Out of the blue, the Regional Manager of Gamestop in Puerto Rico calls me to my cell-phone (my friend Guiller gave her my new cell number)
and asks me if I'm interested in a PS3.

I say: "Of Course"

Then she tells me that they are receiving only 16 PS3s!!!!! and the pre-orders are starting the next day with a $100 deposit. I prepare myself for the fateful day (sending my wife to make the line of course).

Later my wife calls me to the office to tell me the deed was done and that I made lucky #7 (out of 16 remember). She adds that my friend made a preliminary list of people and thats why I, along with the other 15 people made the cut.

I narrate this because I'm hearing/reading things are crazy like that in the US with the PS3 Pre-Orders. People are claiming some stores will receive up to 8 units. If they cut my store's supply to 8, thank God I'm still in.

Please, share a story. I want to know if things are like this where you live too.

Wii 4tw! But, I was interested in PS3 till I saw $600, and in the past Playstation has failed at delivering any good games besides being able to play FFXI. Gonna try Wii this time since i know their gonna have some sweet games. And its gonna be extremely cheap !

A friend of mine waited in line for a few hours at his GameStop and got in pretty good on the list. Fourth or fifth I think. I heard most stores would get around 8-10 consoles, which totally blows.

The reason you can get a Wii pre-order whenever you want is because there are soo many more Wii's than ps3's at launch. Nintendo is launching with over a million Wii's and Sony is only going to have 300-400k ps3's.

Originaly I was all woo-hoo about the ps3, but I can't afford one right now. After Christmas perhaps, assuming I get lucky in Vegas.

And did you guys see that shit on eBay? People were trying to sell their ps3 pre-orders for around $2500, until eBay shut them all down. That's just crazy.

It's an expensive system. But I'm looking at it as a Blu-Ray Player also (those players are at $900-$1,000 and play no games). I'll buy the Wii too, for sure and I already have the 360(I secured my FFXI future since my PS2 is old).

I'm counting on booting my FFXI PS2 discs on the PS3 to see if they work (even thou they have no enhancements/HD like PC or 360).

Pasquale's friend is in lucky too because stores have reservations up to the hundreds! D=

I may get a PS3 in the late future but as it is, I'm sticking with my Wii. I got the pre order on that, so I'm good to go.

PS: Neg, are you still getting PSU? If so, I got it pre ordered on the PC so you would have to get it on either that or ps2 if you're still gonna do that.

Since there's also such an extremely limited quantity of PS3's being released, stores are only getting a few each, and because of the huge demand, they've been holding preorders off until just a couple days ago. When the 360 was released, most stores oversold their preorders and so people had already paid for their 360 but didn't get one until a month or two after it was launched, which made people pretty mad. So they basically didn't do preorders this time until they found out exactly how many Sony was going to send them.

Tymon I'm playing PSU right now on the 360 and It is a very fun and entertaining game. The interface was completely changed but you will get used to it fast. I'll get it for the PS2 when it comes out on the 24th.

Well it looks like everyone (including me) is getting the Wii. =D

Up till now the only friend I know who's getting a PS3 is Guiller. Since there are so very few units that's what is making Pre-Orders so hard to get...

Well, I'm not looking forward to PS3. Way too expensive system, with way too few good initial release games. That and the fact that most consoles have defects at the initial release.

I'm gonna hold off buying it untill I hear more about it, and untill I see a game for it that I just can't live without (read; Final Fantasy XIII)

There should be some kinda filter on PS3 threads that prevent poor people from posting. Well, poor people who hate on the system because they/parents can't afford to waste money on it, anyway .

I pre-ordered mine Tuesday at Ebgames (that's was the US reserve day). I work night shift, so I get home at about 4:00 A.M and I browse the internet like usual. On one of the forums I visit it says EBgames/Gamestop is taking pre-orders that day at opening. After veryfiying, I get kinda pissed cuz' I figure there were probably people lineing up at like 12 a.m for the thing but I can resist the urge and there was always the chance that not too many people knew about it since it was quitely announced, so I make the 30 minute drive to Gamestop (sucks living in a small town). I get there at like 5:30 and nobody is waiting. I was gonna sit by the door but it was a little cold so I parked my car right infront of the store and played Final Fantasy IV for like 4 hours, lol. Second dude didn't show up until 9:30 A.M. ><. Anywho, I ended up being the second person to preorder (minus the 2 store employees) because the next guy stood by the door while I was still in my car. There were only about 6 people in line when the store opened though, so I could have just showed up at 10. /sigh

I was gonna pre-order the Wii on Thursday, planned on playing FFXI when I got off work for a few hours then heading up there a couple of hours before opening but I made the mistake of trying to get a party as 37 MNK, so I gave up, set my alarm, and went to sleep. Alarm went off but I just couldn't get myself out of bed and said "F it".

Uzor, PS3 doesn't come out in Europe until the spring. There are places in the US the have been taking pre-orders for months, but they aren't as reliable as EBgames/Gamestop are since they are only taking pre-orders for the amount of systems they know they will have.

I liked PS2, but the only games i play religously on consolse is Halo (already have 360 so im good to go) and Socom (newest one is coming out in nov. for PS2 so good for awhile there), other then that its all PC, so im just gonna spend my money on a new PC this christmas and see where the PS3 goes, along the lines of games.

Edit: I was gonna pre order one and then sell it for kicks but i kind of forgot about it and missed the preorder day.

Kind of incorrect usage there. They don't know they're getting 4-12 systems. They expect to be getting 4-12 systems. Things can happen that result in less, and considering Sony's actions thus far, a shortage in the initial shipment wouldn't suprise me in the least.
