Mac vs. PC

Kelyon = the pinnacle of the Mac "pretentious cock" fanboy.

You're contradicting/changing your point of view.

Anyways, it doesn't run better, iMovie is made for the simplistic amateur editor, like you said you were, not for a professional.

Not really, if i did i apolgize. I would kill for something that would give a more professional look that iMovie. It was a brand spanken new machine fresh from the box. First time using it and it ran like that. I don't know why it did that, but it did.

Also, what is Ubuntu?

Sarcasm. One is not better than the other. Question, do PCs run Final Cut Pro?

Why would you want to run FCP when the industry standard is Premiere? This is like the old Corel Draw vs Illustrator debate. There was a point where Corel Draw was better than Illustrator, but still no point in really using it since trading files and work with your peers was difficult when using Draw, espeically when you consider DRaw was for PC only and illustrator was cross platform. Draw was better in some aspects but still not good enough since not as many people used it, and Illustrator could do everything you needed it to do anyway.

If I see an FCP on PC one day, maybe that argument will hold more ground.

And Widgets are cool as shit.

QFT!

(yes... that is a Nuck Chorris widget :spiteful:)

i use both PC and Mac at my job (at home i have a PC laptop and a Mac laptop), and they both have their uses... personally im a PC person, just for the reason that theres more software/games for PC then Mac... if that ever changes, then i might migrate officially to Mac, but until then im a PC fan

theres also Virtual PC available for free from Microsoft for those who are a fan of both

I tried Virtual PC on my mac at home. That shit couldn't even run "The Sims".

This is extremely far from the truth. Avid is and still is the industry standard, and FCP is a close second. As nice as what Premiere can accomplish, it's definitely not industry standard. Completely far from it.

Do some research on what you see and watch on television and movies. Anything edited on digital media will be mostly done by Avid and FCP. Even go way back in the day to Home Improvement, which was edited on Avid.

Premiere has a name only because of Adobe, but when it comes to an editing system, it's a mediocre system at best. Don't get me wrong, it's one of the few good editing systems out there, but it's way far away from being industry standard.

I can't be the only one who sees the irony in this post.
Irony was the point :p

Also, what is Ubuntu?

It's a very easy to run/install Linux distribution. Currently on v7.10, I've been running it in some form since v5.04, and it just keeps getting better and better. I don't even have to use ndiswrapper for wireless anymore, and that gives me a woody every time I get to say it.

So, everyone uses it so its the best? Shit load of people drive Fords but i am sure a Mozerati will kick its ass.

OpenSuSe onry.
I wanted to call it "Eurotrash", but I can't knock SuSE much.

I got my start in Linux on SuSE version 9, when it wasn't owned by Novell yet. KDE was a nice GDE to get used to, and while I miss a lot of the bells and whistles associated with it, I've found that GNOME does everything I need it to do, and I can make it shinier than KDE would ever hope to be.

Also, I couldn't get around the term "YaST". It drove me up the wall then, and it does now :)

My college's curriculum was partially Novell-centric (part of a deal they got suckered into 15 years ago), and after I found SuSE was being bought by Novell, I cut ties and began anew with Ubuntu, and couldn't be happier :)

Ubuntu/Kubuntu (same kernel) are probably the best user distributions -- only followed remotely closely by Fedora.
