Macro Spam!

Death to most if not all SMN macros ...

gonna have to agree here and I am a smn. I am so tired of seeing so many other smn who think thier annoying macros are so clever when they are not. And after seeing them 48365783657 in a party I am about ready to snap. Also the freaking BLM macros everyone has seen them you know the people who think they have to think of some clever line before every nuke.

A drk can't do their job properly with emo macros. I mean, what good is Last Resort to your pt if you don't have "Cut my life into pieces, this is my (Last Resort)!" in there too?

This actually helps TONS. Being in a static that had dual WAR/NIN tanks it was imperative that I kept stun ready for when they needed to recast. I dont see why that would frustrate you, it leads to better exp/hr.

The reason this frustrates me with nin tanks is this: I can see if their HP is getting low, and usually when it is i do stun. Also, with every nin tank I have partied with, I can cast maybe 2 nukes in the beginning+middle of the fight. If i stun I can only cast maybe 1 nuke aside from stun- since it pulls way too much hate than its worth. The end of the fight is usually just me nuking the crap out of it and hoping my stoneskin, phalanx and blink stand. I think it might be a little different between blm stunning and drk stunning though.

I have stun in /p so people know I'm stunning so I don't get "omgz y rnt u stunnining?!" and so my fellow BLMs know I've nuked and at what times (for sky).

I don't think any of my BLM macros have /p in apart from Stun. All /echo and /recast :D

I dont really bother with this, since it'll usually be the melees telling you to stun. I hope to god that the melees can at least see the gigantic flashy stun animation right in front of their face- just my opinion.

lol, the only thing I do now is say {Light}, {Dark}, {Water}, {Fire} etc.

This is just to let the party know which element im summoning and it gives them time to say "OMFGNOOZBDONTCAZTTHAT".

Just watch for the Utsusemi Ichi line of text coming up, as it's being cast and fire off your macro. I never have a problem with drawing hate via Stun (even with NIN with no THF in the party)... and to be fair, I can argue that by stunning during the Ichi casts, the NIN's health wouldn't be dropping in the first place. :)

The reason why DRK are generally concieved as better stunners than BLM (aside from the higher Dark Magic skill, I believe?) is they can immidately react in the middle of their auto-attack, whereas something bad can happen in the middle of a BLM casting another spell, so sometimes us BLM can't react right away.

I think i just haven't partied with a ninja that is actually good. I have been spoiled by teh 1337 plds.

I know this one person who has the most annoying macros... in /say no less. And this is from someone who's 70+.

Also, I have to agree that such macros should be used sparingly, when possibly needed to communicate. (i.e. pulling, having a RDM & BRD in a party and having a /p dispeling/finale macro in order to communicate, etc)

I also agree about those really long SMN macros that gets annoying after the first round. But it's always a good laugh...

By The Hammer Of Thor, I Am Casting Teh Stonega Iii On Teh Land Worm Look At Me <call12535325323>

I've been thinking of creating a separate set of macros for certain spells to add little "flavor quotes" to them, kinda like the spells in Final Fantasy Tactics. Would only use them occasionally in "for-fun" parties or in situations that aren't dangerous ("omg, {Easy Prey} aggro").

But I'd never use them in situations where the extra line of text would cause problems (real exp parties), since I know I hate unneccessary /p messages that people tend to use. I really -don't- need to know each time a mage casts Cure, along with their MP each time. Nor do I need to hear "ur mom smells" on each provoke (and with those, and really anyone that adds these messages to macros, you could at least -attempt- to spell things completely and correctly if you -must- use them.) So outside of soloing or more relaxed parties (farming and such, in groups.) I wouldn't use any /p macros that weren't neccessary (TP report or pulling).

I have a gather together macro for Earthern Ward, Ecl. Howl and protectra/shellra - was getting tired of people being spread out all over the place when resting between battles and missing it. This way it's their own fault when the don't get it >D

I have to say that I've seen a lot of these types of major-league annoying macros. My two favorite (read: most hated) ones were a fellow dragoon who felt the need to have a party macro for jump & high jump (one line for the way up and one for the landing...don't get me started) and a taru mage whom, everytime he rested, had a say macro: "(Jackass) rests his wittle bitty feets." :rtfm: Ever wanted to slap someone... HARD... Just on the odd chance that you might see the lights go on in there?

hate the unistmi (sp) what has (^(^.^)^) in it

I only have /p in my Provoke and WS macros. Anything else is un-needed to me.

I mean for me as a PLD. I don't mind people having a /p line in a Macro if they are going to do a large amount of dmg as I will then usually voke/flash just before they do it to make sure I don't lose hate.

Made me chuckle :) NIN = PLD not > or <. It's all situational and i'm getting tired of hearing NIN > PLD and PLD > NIN. Sure I call NIN's dirty evil things. It's all in jest (and the fact they take potential pt invites away from me).

I always laugh when I go level one of my jobs and run across a new blm that feels the need to announce every.... single.... one of his/her nukes. Stun I can understand when there's a stun order, but even stun /p messages are hardly a requirement. Escape /p macros aren't a bad idea, but I use escape so little that I just manually type that in. :P

Anyway, hats off to you for this thread. Hard to believe nobody else has complained about this. It's always driven me nuts.

The emo drk stuff just cracks me up. I'd get annoyed with it if it weren't so pathetically funny.

For some reason, someone in my ls has a raise macro that announces it to the whole LS. I'm guessing it's from dynamis events and whatnot and she just forgot to turn it off, but it always cracks me up cuz I get to hear about my friends and others dying all the time without them telling me.

I think ppl get crazy on the macroage, jeiger in my ls has something in just about all his macros not to bad though. On the other hand meall I have /p chats in is my WSs tp warnings and my pull macros I have a "(Found it) (party) (ready)?" and a incoming macro all my other skills nothing because all the my other skill doesnt require me having to tell my pt. even my pld I only have /p chats in provoke so ppl know when ive used provoke and when I can recast it. What really urke me is the noobs high lvl and low lvl that still have /p chats in ranged attack ie some rngs, thfs, sam, cor, nin

I CAN SEE WITH MY THIRD EYE!

(inside joke w/ swish. lol.)

HAY SWISH! IF YOU FLEE THE MOBS WILL RESPAWN, YOU NOOB PULLER
