Well I've put it off long enough and now i must send in my computer to get reformated. I'd do it myself but as you all have read from my old computer threads i break computers not fix them. Well back to the topic at hand i was wondering if there was some way to save my macros? I can save my other stuff on my brothers computer (he's an idiot so he won't know). any help would be nice.

Edit: I'm not sending it in till monday so i can do CoP 2-5.

I don't know where they're kept, but what you can do to save all your settings and what not is to do the following:

1) Backup the entire playonline folder.
2) Assuming you're running XP, go start menu-> Run and type regedit.
3) Expand HKEY_Local_machine
4) Expand Software
5) Right mouse click on the PlayOnline folder and select export. The name you export it to doesn't matter.
6) Right mosue click on the PlayOnlineIS folder and do the same; just don't use the same save name as the PlayOnline export :-)
7) Then, when you get your machine back, install the basic 3 CDs for FFXI. This sets up some machine environment variables.
8) Replace the installed playonline folder with your backuped folder.
9) Double click each of the exported registery files you did earlier and say yes to what they ask.

Voila!

Doesn't control + m do the same thing, on the character select screen? I remember someone posting something like this a while ago, where it saves the macros online... Just a thought.

Assuming you installed to the default location, back up this folder and all the contents in it.

c\program files > playonline > >SquareEnix > Final Fantasy XI > USER

Inside the USER folder there should be one Sub folder for each char you have. those are your macro's. I just back it up onto a CD then copy back in there once I reinstall.
