Mages, most abused job in the game

spam curing because they can't do their jobs? I've had white mages who wouldn't heal me because they're too worried about hate. Even after watching me hold hate through Ancient Magic Bursts.. so that goes both ways kinda.

As a further note of that thought.. it is your job to spam cure a tank if you're a white mage, Rinoah :)

As a paladin your cures are for holding hate moreso than trying to heal yourself. As is provoke, shield bash, and flash.

Really? in my experience tanks and melees have breezed through by me spam curing my ass off to keep them alive, because they cannot do their jobs...

Really? cos a whm who "Spam-cures your ass off" as you so eloquently put it around a bunch of melees or tanks who can't do their jobs doesn't do much but die.

Practice makes perfect. besides...with Cure V i can heal alot of HP and get little hate. and as long as the tank has even half a clue what he is doing i find that should i collect a little to much hate then he can get hate back pretty quickly. besides...i always have stoneskin, blink and reraise II on. (and prot and shell obviously).

I admit i phrased it badly...my point was i have seen plenty of shitty tanks and meleers (more tanks than meleers to be fair) that have only survived (barely) because i was working my ass off at keeping them alive. i am aware that it is my job to keep them alive and that it is the reason that they brought me into party, but when i am using up 800 MP for a fight against a VT enemy then someone is doing something wrong.

Ok, i can dig that. But my point is ask a DD that's not a rng (specificly wars, mnks, drks, and drgs) how long they took to lvl a job or get the uber gear or whatever, then compare with a mage, i'm willing to bet 9/10 melees busted ass not only for their own gear but for a mage a bunch too. Bottom line is that the entire game comes down to ball-polishing for all of us, you help a mage inturn you get to not be eaten alive while huntin up that coffer key and vice versa. The premise of the OP was mages are abused moreso than any other generalized class in the game, that statement is outright bullshit of the highest grade.

Serket ring

Ok any mage who thinks that the Serket ring should be passed to mages are still greedy, lol. I would love to have a Serket Ring as a brd, but I don't expect it to be passed to me or any mage. As I feel the the Stryder Boots drop shouldn't be passed to a melee class. Those paticular Iitems are high cost items that can be sold to benefit everyone. So again its all about greed. Ask yourself would you as a mage, give up your share of a stryder boot drop just so a Rng can have them? I think not, There are certain items that need to be sold to help everyone, plain and simple.

It was an example. there are many more. high level BLM scrolls drop and since they are worth like 200k+ everyone ignores the BLM in the pt asking if he could get them and they all lot anyway. i have been in LoO and killed a gob and had WHM spells drop then had a pt member take it because it is worth 4k.

Also if i was getting a serket ring then i would be more than happy to pass on striders...but thats never going to happen...so y'know...i like to believe in what goes around comes around. aka if your an asshole to me then ask for AF help or something i will very much enjoy laughing in your face. likewise if i give help i expect it in return. not "drop everything that you are doing and come help me on a whim" help but when i ask them when they are sitting in jeuno saying how bored they are agreeing to kill some time help. you may call me greedy of whatever you like but when i help someone i dont expect them to ignore me should i ever need help i expect them to say "hey...didn't she help me with "X"... i think i will help her out since i am not busy".

This can all be tied back to why the economy is so screwy .. but i will only go so far to that point .. after that i lack the brainpower for posting and need to go do something else for a minute...

<.< >.>

If more people were willing to do crap for each other instead of selling the inflated and over-priced loot more people would have stuff, less people would bitch about not having stuff, and prices for stuff would prolly go down .. just a little line of logic i followed through my yr+ on this game ... which is prolly why my main is only 63 in that time and alot of my friends have better stuff or more stuff than me .. but hey .. nice guys may finish last but they get the biggest crowd reaction when they do

i have a year on this game and my main is 36.. thats right .. 36... you can blame my mom mostly for that but also I take a LOT of time to help other people.. and i always enjoy it.. i love helping people because im in this game to have fun.. and having fun for me is being with people and doing things.. not being the best nor having the most.

unfortunately people like you and i are oddities in the MMO world for the most part

There's a big difference between helping people and getting stepped on, and the three posters above me don't seem to know the difference.

lol, do some homework about me before generating an opinion, there Cubs ;)

I've been stepped all over more times than could be counted, however i'm not going to change my play style to being greedy and ignorantly hurting the game be it in the economy or community. I do what i can, and wish i had the superiority complex to turn my nose up at those who don't, which is basicly what the OP was.

I wasn't referring to the OP, I was referring to the 'poor persecuted little me who can't level but helps everyone so I'm so much better than everyone else' attitude that I see a lot in people just before they go cry in their LiveJournals about how all their friends are level 75 and they're level 50 and they want to sell their account but they're just SO HARDCORE about Final Fantasy XI Online the video game.

Oh give me a break, that's not what i was saying at all i made a broad-stroke idealistic statement about how things would be if people thought like i did about it, but people don't ... so wah for me i spose it makes sense that it translates to a poor me cry and how i'm so much better than other people b/c i made a logical statement that ties in with most of the problems in the game

It's the community that's broke, not the game or the classes.

huh

ack i lost you there im sorry i kept reading it but i didnt make any sense out of it.. to my best knowledge this is what i would say to your previous comment.

Im in no way sad about what level i am.. i like to help people and i dont feel victimized what-so-ever... im not dure if that pertains to what you were saying but its my best shot.

The community isn't broken, and you saying that proves that you'd rather be persecuted than succeed.

In regards to the OP, this is the give and take of the game. If you level a melee job, you sit on your ass for hours in Jeuno either waiting for that one invite a day (maybe) or you start a party and camp the /sea all mages like they're fucking King Behemoth. Let me put in in perspective.

My girlfriend plays a RDM. There would be times where she'd be seeking on the PS2 and I'd be on the PC. There would be days where she'd get invites within 30 seconds of logging on. The average extra wait time I had as a MNK would be 2-3 hours.

If you pick a melee job, you spend a lot of extra time seeking, but you make it back endgame with all the rare/ex and powerful goodies you can get from just about everywhere.

If you're a mage, you don't have as much to look forward to gear-wise, but your trip to 75 is, in general, quicker and easier.

Metalryu, I didn't know you had no ability to comprehend to whom a post is directed.
