Easily the best RPG on any current console (if you don't consider Valkyria Chronicles a standard RPG). I think its exactly what FFXII wanted to be, but failed miserably at.

Anyone else get this?

I didn't know they released a second. I have Magna Carta and I've enjoyed it. Never finished it because my console is a POS.

i think ima go get this tonight.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If not for anything else, it doesn't have stupid achievements like most RPGs do (i.e. collect all chest, play 100 hours, craft all 6000 items). They are all very practical (story progression, skill trees, weapons, combat related). Scamco added some pretty shady DLC though that is required for the full 1250.

of course a good rpg comes out and it's 360 exclusive

I'm sure it'll end up on the PS3 after a year or so. Quite frankly, I'm lookin' forward to this despite completing the game 100%.

Yep, came out Friday two weeks ago. However, it's not a sequel.

I'm going to look for a trailer or something now, happy that it's coming out for 360. My ps2 although still trudging along has seen better days.

I'll warn you, the story isn't all that great, it's no FF or Lost Odyssey in that department, but the gmeplay is just amazing. I found myself comparing it with how much I enjoyed the gameplay of .Hack G.U., though they are nothing alike. The battle system screams, "make a console MMO out of me!" However, it takes some time to work it effectively -and- get use to it.

The only department of fail it visits is in the voice acting department. They hired about every big wig English VA out there and they all, even Liam O'brien, fail it up, which is unusual of me to say about him, the only decent English VA imo. The dialog is very corny too but if you look past all of that there is a good little story goin' on, despite the cliches and simplicity of it all.

I am trying to find it cheap. Too many games out to buy them all and RPGs are not great rentals.

Opinions opinions.
Anyways, I'd say it's more comparable to Rogue Galaxy than FFXII.

Combo system, full real time combat, more action oriented, combat focused around special character skills.

Never heard of the Magna Carta 2 series though I'll have to put in on my radar. RPGs, unless they have some online thing that might be popular, can wait at the moment since I have so many games to play already and they take a solid week or two usually(of playing more than I want to be playing videogames), but it feels like something I could buy in January for cheap to fill in the void.

So you actually think this is better then ToV or LO? I'm not knocking it or anything, but that is a big task, and I haven't heard squat on this game lol.

I think it's leaps and bounds better than both of them. The only disappointing thing is that it doesn't last much over 40 hours (I got 100% in 43 hours). I just flat out don't like ToV, probably because I'm not big on the Tales of series. Those games just don't feel right to me no matter how many times I try them. As for LO I found it rather boring. I mean, yeah, the story is great, but in terms of gameplay, well, I think I've grown past standard turned based. I use to love it but now it's really, really old and really, really boring. Not to mention I think the character designs in that game are fuckin' atrocious.

I'm really just talking about gameplay here. If I cared much about stories this game would definitely be trash. I enjoyed it, but it was weak.

Better then Enchanted Arms story? If you say worse, then I'll skip it lol.

Enchanted Arms looks so awful I haven't even bothered to touch it. It's not that the story is bad it's just not good in English, over simplified being the main problem. The dialog is just very monotonous (not in terms of voice but words) and corny.

started playing this today, its okay so far, and im not that far in, but its no ToV or LO

It takes a while to pick up steam. Which would be another gripe. The wooden sword era is definitely tryin' to the patience...

yeah im past the wooden sword BS, i had to grit my teeth at the cornyness of "why cant i pick up a real sword!?" yet he can sit there and carve a wooden sword with a real knife...hmm. He doesnt wanna hurt things, but hes fine bludgeoning them to death with a wooden stick lmao.

and why the fuck does the main character look EXACTLY like Rion from Galerions with black and white hair?! even the necklace...wtf!?

well i will admit that the game play is fun. Im at that place of people that hate humans now and once you get the battle stuff down it is a bit fun and interactive. It feels like being in an MMO party and running from mob to mob.
But the voice acting is annoying, im tired of hearing the same lines over and over when i overheat.
I tend to like Crocell far more than Juto.
The story as of yet is pretty bland and i really dont feel like i give a shit what happens or is happening.
I am finding it a little on the easy side so far as well, while the battles are fun, it doesnt present much of a challenge. Maybe i havent hit a difficult battle yet, but in my RPG play im used to having some challenging battle of some sort by this far in the game.

I mean they bring out the sentinel and make him look all bad ass, they talk about sentinels as if they are this impossible thing to destroy and that it has a weakness you need to hit.
But during that battle i didnt find that i needed to focus on any weakness at all, i just fought like normal, and he went down quick! Then its all "OMGZ WE TOOK DOWN A SENTINEL I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!". yeah right.
Oh and here, wear this dead guys armor "okay no problem!". haha.
this is gonna take a backseat to Borderlands starting tonight, but i will finish it after that.

Yeah, like I said, a lot of the story is lost in translation. So much so it's really not even anything more than an outline in our version. Fuckin' silly this day and age if you ask me.

As for the difficulty I agree. I really wished there was some sort of hellishly hard mode. However, the game was a decent challenge until I found the battle system fun then I tended to go overboard and over level to the point of screwing myself out of challenges. The bosses get a little tougher toward the end, seein' as most of them have one shot abilities or deal tons of damage normally, but it's not strategic it's all about healing and that's it.

I've had to stop my second playthrough for Borderlands as well. Borderlands is gonna be on the docket for a long, long time.
