Although SE hasn't exactly hit the mark lately, they should be applauded for at least trying to tap into the western market more, especially as they are buying out Eidos and looking into more western games, which is a very good business move.
Plus, Square made the FF series, Enix made Dragon Quest, and I love both.

There is no reason what so ever to applaud SE. Only if you are a die hard fan of them... Which you are, to anything you like.
They have taken the same RPG system for 20 years and simply changed the name of characters. Only slight changes were made as time went on and the games have not been getting better at all. Most of there success comes from legends which have since left their company.
From there recent RPGs you can just smell the lack of talent in SE. They all have flashes but they just point out SE cant make a game unless its a rehash.
