Marvel vs Capcom 2

Materia system is one of my favorite setups. One of the big reasons why I like that game so much. You could pretty much customize your characters anyway you like. The story had a "dark" setting too. Sephiroth is a dark villian. I'm a fan of "dark" stories, characters, villians ect. Now I don't doubt a bit FFVI is good. Its got a dark plot too, its just I never got around to finishing the game. The game is fun, from what I've seen of the story, it was pretty good. I just like FFVII better personally.

Materia is just a rehash of previous games magic systems, closer tied to the Esper/Magicite. Espers granted level-up bonuses, allowing customization as well. I really wouldn't consider FF7 "dark." The only "dark" setting of the game is Midgar. No other area is like that.

And yeah Kefka succeeded, sephiroth didn't but we still have no true way of knowing who was stronger. The heroes they dealth with could be on different levels of skill. We have no way of knowng if the heroes in VI are stronger than VII or vice versa. This can affect the success of a villian. Would Sephiroth still fail if he was in VI? Would Kefka still destroy the world if he was in VII? We'll never know the outcome therefore we'll never know who the stronger villian is unless they face off one on one which will never happen. If it did, the creators of SE would favor sephiroth due to the popularity of his character which wouldn't be a true test of skill. It would be winning a popularity contest. I just personally think a man in black trench with a 20' sword is cooler than some clown regardless of who really was more successful.

The 6 team had basically a demigod on their team, and Kefkha was still a thorn in their side for so long. The 7 team had a military drop out. You can easily see which villian was stronger.

FF6's bad timing was what gave FF7 all the glory. If SE waited just a year and made FF6 the 3 CD-polygon-animation extravaganza that FF7 was, the story would have been different. SE was already pushing Nintendo for bigger memory cartridges but they weren't interested because they were no.1 at the time. But then, Sony came along with their black CD...

12 people couldn't stop Kefka.

8 people stopped Sephiroth.

12 is if you're not including Leo, Banon, and Mog - If you get him pre-World of Ruin.

No, 12 includes Mog. There are 16 total playable characters in FFVI, two of which (Leo and Banon) are only temporary and the other two are only accessible in the World of Ruin.

Ah, I miscounted. Been so long since I played, I thought there were only 14 playables. In my head I saw the party building menu, and came up with 7 in each row. Or something. I don't remember now.

It's 8 in each row =) With two open spaces left at the end if you got Shadow, Mog, Umaro, and Gogo.

WTH.. you read the thread stating 'Marvel vs. Capcom 2' You look inside at the last page and see.. 'Final Fantasy.' Did i miss something?

FF7 was also international. FF6 was pretty much Japan and then USA as FF3 only. =(

Read the first few pages. That's about where it is.

Well, maybe it is too much. It's still on the shelf, and it's still $69.99.

That game is fun as hell.
