I am getting sick of SEs layness's when it's comeing to providing the services we paying for. I thinking their attitude is we serving them, but we paying them for the pleasure of it. Well. . . I not likeing that! I thinking we needing to takeing some control, and let them knowing we mad. I have friends at local news station here in San Diego, can maybe get story in news paper or something. But my Ideas for protest and where I needing everyones helping, is calling customer support 1 (858) 790-7529 and sayings your angry! Also my other ideas, was haveing everyone stopping payment on their accounts, all togethers on one day. If we can getting maybe 700 people to stoping payment for 1 week, then maybe we can getting their attention.
I needing your help on this, I know we all mad at SE for somethings, lets working together to makeing it better.
Also if you haveing any ideas I wanting to hearing them.

Not sure how you would stop payment as it is automatically billed to you. As for being angry, I am more upset by my router that occasionally kicks me off. Please elaborate on how we are serving SE as you say.

I feel that it is my duty to end Square Enix's control over the minds and souls of countless people. The rest of this letter is focused exclusively on Square Enix, not because I harbor any ill-will towards it, but because it just reported that its positions prevent smallpox. Do you think that that's merely sloppy reporting on Square Enix's part? I don't. I, for one, think that it's a deliberate attempt to form the association in the public's mind between any scribblings it disagrees with and the ideas of hate and violence and illegality. Should we blindly trust such pigheaded clods? Put simply, Square Enix should think about how its reinterpretations of historic events lead contentious, pudibund exhibitionists to thrust all of us into scenarios rife with personal animosities and petty resentments. If Square Enix doesn't want to think that hard, perhaps it should just keep quiet. For the nonce, Square Enix is content to hand over the country to cruel profiteers. But in the coming days, it will demand that Earth submit to the dominion of fickle, untrustworthy braggarts.

We must prevent the production of a new crop of morally questionable, grotesque hoodlums. If we fail in this, we are not failing someone else; we are not disrupting some interest separate from ourselves. Rather, it is we who suffer when we neglect to observe that if vandalism were an Olympic sport, Square Enix would clinch the gold medal. Square Enix says that it is a martyr for freedom and a victim of elitism. I've seen more plausible things scrawled on the bathroom walls in elementary schools.

Even Square Enix's spokesmen don't care much for its political objectives; they simply wish to associate with other mawkish stool pigeons and humiliate, subjugate, and eventually, eliminate everyone who wants to detail the specific steps and objectives needed to thwart its annoying schemes. Square Enix is the hidden hand behind all modern cataclysms. Let me recap that for you, because it really is extraordinarily important: One of Square Enix's backers once said, "The most valuable skill one can have is to be able to lie convincingly." Now that's pretty funny, of course, but I didn't include that quote just to make you laugh. I included it to convince you that I am reminded of the quote, "Its pals are stampeding happily and mindlessly toward the precipice of ill-bred neocolonialism." This comment is not as closed-minded as it seems, because this is a fundamental and obvious truth that Square Enix totally ignores. That conclusion is not based on some sort of ruthless, malignant philosophy or on Square Enix-style mental masturbation, but on widely known and proven principles of science. These principles explain that the gloss that Square Enix's foot soldiers put on Square Enix's hastily mounted campaigns unfortunately does little to reveal the truth about its whinges. Square Enix is the type of organization that turns up its nose at people like you and me. I guess that's because we haven't the faintest notion about the things that really matter, such as why it would be good for it to take away our sense of community and leave us morally adrift.

By the end of the decade, Square Enix might be diagnosed with a special type of mental illness that is not yet recognized. But for now, be aware that if I were to compile a list of its forays into espionage, sabotage, and subversion, it would fill an entire page and perhaps even run over onto the following one. Such a list would surely make every sane person who has passed the age of six realize that there are two related questions in this matter. The first is to what extent Square Enix has tried to inject even more fear and divisiveness into political campaigns. The other is whether or not Square Enix extricates itself from difficulty by intrigue, by chicanery, by dissimulation, by trimming, by an untruth, by an injustice. Any rational argument must acknowledge this. Square Enix's stupid, eccentric screeds, naturally, do not. It would be more productive for Square Enix to take a more diplomatic and conciliatory approach. No joke.

This may sound like caricature, but mankind needs to do more to name and shame Square Enix's followers for their ophidian acts of neopaganism. Understand, I am not condemning mankind for not doing enough; I am merely stating that if Square Enix thinks that all major world powers are controlled by a covert group of "insiders", then it's sadly mistaken. Is there anyone else out there who's noticed that impudent, vengeful pseudo-intellectuals are deeply impressed by Square Enix's guff? I ask because you shouldn't let it intimidate you. You shouldn't let it push you around. We're the ones who are right, not Square Enix. Common sense and scientific evidence agree: It is not news that the success of Square Enix's personal attacks relies upon the average voter not knowing whether our nation has gone communist, socialist, fascist, or merely insane. What speaks volumes, though, is that its arguments are based on a denial of reality, on the substitution of a deliberately falsified picture of the world in place of reality. And this dishonesty, this refusal to admit the truth, will have some very serious consequences for all of us one day.

I have a message for Square Enix. My message is that, for the good of us all, it should never supplant one form of injustice with another. It should never even try to do such a churlish thing. To make myself perfectly clear, by "never", I don't mean "maybe", "sometimes", or "it depends". I mean only that Square Enix's bromides are like an enormous philistinism-spewing machine. We must begin dismantling that structure. We must put a monkey wrench in its gears. And we must think outside the box, because Square Enix is firmly convinced that the average working-class person can't see through its chicanery. Its belief is controverted, however, by the weight of the evidence indicating that if a cogent, logical argument entered Square Enix's brain, no doubt a concussion would result. Would Square Enix like it if I were destructive and untoward, too? I don't think so.

To oppose quislingism, we must oppose terrorism. To oppose jujuism, we must oppose obstructionism. And to oppose Square Enix, we must oppose slaphappy storytellers. We must provide people the wherewithal to help others to see through the empty and meaningless statements uttered by Square Enix and its assistants. As mentioned above, however, that is not enough. It is necessary to do more. It is necessary to stop defending the clueless status quo and, instead, implement a bold, new agenda for change.

Listen up: The public is like a giant that Square Enix has blindfolded, drugged, and gagged. This giant has plugs in his ears and Square Enix leads him around by the nose. Clearly, such a giant needs to lay out some ideas and interpretations that hold the potential for insight. That's why I feel obligated to notify the giant (i.e., the public) that Square Enix says it's going to use every conceivable form of diplomacy, deception, pressure, coercion, bribery, treason, and terror to make a mockery of the term "scientificogeographical" as soon as our backs are turned. Is it out of its mind? The answer is fairly obvious when you consider that commercialism has served as the justification for the butchering, torture, and enslavement of more people than any other "ism". That's why it's Square Enix's favorite; it makes it easy for it to shout obscenities at passers-by. Although insensitive slumlords are relatively small in number compared to the general population, they are increasing in size and fervor. Square Enix may have the right to malign and traduce me. It may have the right to increase people's stress and aggression. But Square Enix crosses the line when it uses its bully pulpit to demonize my family and friends. Square Enix's intent is to prevent us from asking questions. It doesn't want the details checked. It doesn't want anyone looking for any facts other than the official facts it presents to us. I wonder if this is because most of its "facts" are false.

There are two reasons which induce me to submit Square Enix's nostrums to a special examination: 1) An increasing number of people abhor Square Enix's detestable sophistries and are looking for alternatives, like the truth, and 2) Square Enix's plans for the future constitute one of the many conduits of boosterism in our culture. I must admit that the second point, in particular, sometimes fills me with anxious concern. Square Enix's modes of thought have paid off: already, Square Enix has had some success in its efforts to create a climate in which it will be assumed that our achievements reflect not individual worth, talent, or skill, but special consideration.

Square Enix says it's not blathering, but it's unequivocally obtuse, and that's essentially the same thing. Ever since Square Enix decided to remake the world to suit its own self-deceiving needs, its consistent, unvarying line has been that the best way to reduce cognitive dissonance and restore homeostasis to one's psyche is to gum up what were once great ideas. Given Square Enix's record of shady dealings, we can say that the cardinal rule of its words is that bloodthirsty conformism is the only thing that matters. In fact, I have said that to Square Enix on many occasions, and I will keep on saying it until it stops trying to force me to undergo "treatment" to cure my "problem". And now, to end with a clever bit of doggerel: United we stand. Divided we fall. Square Enix's whiney insults will destroy us all.

Honestly though. Do you really think 700 people will make SE improve their services? Out of the 500k+ players playing?

And how will you make 700 people quit paying?

On another note, it's not SE's fault their servers have been kind of icky lately. It's because of the DoS attacks. I'm sure your computer can't handle 2k people connecting to it, and then have another 500 or so spamming information to it, causing it to "Deny the service" of the "legal" computers.

And I don't know in what form the DoS attacks come. But I don't think it's through the CMD "ping", since that's one of the easiest to protect oneself from O.o.

What specifically are you refering to? Some people might not be mad about the same things you're mad about. If everyone called the customer service line, and just said they were angry, nothing would get done. You need to establish a clear objective, not just "don't do stuff we don't like anymore."

Considering that we pay by the month, we can't stop paying for 1 week. Plus, 700 people will be nothing given the number of players they have.

That's some lovely rhetoric Uzor, too bad it doesn't mean anything ;P

yeah what good will it do. nothing will happen. i wrote to SE telling them there is an easier way to remove gilsellers from game easily. make emperor hairpin, o.kote, leaping boots, serket ring to rare/ex or just ex. that way less ppl will camp them over and over again for gil and more ppl will be able to get them. i know alot of ppl don't have like 1M to spend on o.kote nor 850k on ve pin. those prices are just plain ridiculous. alot of bastards in ffxi nowadays. ffxi doesn't have fun factor anymore unlike 1yr ago when i joined ; ;

I have long thought making items like Hairpin and leaping rare/ex a good thing. Let's face it, they're not needed by a TON of jobs. I know a good few that would want them, and maybe two that need them for a large portion of the game.

Then there are the Mnk/Sam/Nin items that everyone camps. Only three jobs can wear the damn thing! C'mon!

Yeah, make them Rare/Ex so they're just like the Moldavite Earring - incredibly annoying to get, still highly camped, you can't sell it to someone else when you're done with it, and the only way to get it is camp it yourself or hire someone else to camp it while you're sitting there. Plus there's the whole trust issue - you can't trust if the person will actually give you the item once you give them the money, and even if you know you can trust the person, you have to sit in the same zone for hours while they camp the NM, instead of doing something more constructive with your time.

Making them Rare/Ex won't make them any easier to get. People camp the NMs because the drop is worth money. And the drop is worth money because people want the item. There's not enough to go around and give one to everyone - if there was, they wouldn't be worth anything. And it still won't get rid of all the gilsellers - not all of them make money off camping NMs.

Edit: Forgot to mention something else - people will still camp Leaping Lizzy for profit if you make the boots Rare/Ex - they can synth them into Winged Boots still. And if you make those Rare/Ex, you just made a highly coveted crafted item into something that can only be used by very high-level leathercrafters.

You would have to accompany the mass exodus with 700 letters explaining the sudden stop in play. What would happen if you continously called every day complaining to them? I wonder if that would change anything too...

most of the gil sellers farm their ass off for common items, the ones everyone bitches about are the ones that camp, but any competent nm camper can out pull the gil sellers that camp.

i mean how motivated do you think gil sellers are stuck in some hut in where ever they are playing some dumb ass game they dont care about for 1 dollar a day, or whatever their shitty wage is.

the problem is the massive gil farming they do, not getting drops, cause lets face it, they aren't really that good at getting claims.

some of them arent that good at claiming, but its hard to be bad when you just run at it, and voke. (cursed huangsai) while i'm stuck either runing at it and useing steal(5 min recast) or stoping to get off a ranged attack. Even stun is annoying. and they dont even care about subbing THF or whatever, since they're there 24/7 anyways.

I don't normally go after such things as the gilsellers do. I generally dislike hunting NM because of pop times and all the money-camping whores.

I did camp in ordelles once though just for shits and giggles. Beating the gilsellers not only wasn't hard, but with three people we dominated four of the spawns and claimed six in a row.

I agree partly Yoshi.

But to SE's credit, it's might not entirely be thier fault. That is if the people responsible for the attacks are the ones SE banned. Then this situation is party because SE tried to give us better service in the first place.

That is the only reason I could think of that someone would try to shut down a service.

I think I understand what Yoshindor is getting at it, and it's primarily the issue with the update system. And when he said that SE looks at it as "we are serving them," I think meant that SE views us the players as serving SE. I think we can all agree that as a whole, SE doesn't give great customer service. Yes they do a REASONABLE job, but not that great and this is coming from someone who has worked in retail for 10 years and is a retail manager. I get paid to kiss people's ass basically so that we don't lose business (although my favorite pasttime is sending customers to Best Buy for things since they are cheaper than us).

Now I will give SE a little bit of credit on the last update, especially since people seem to STILL be having problems downloading, that at least some of it is due to DDoS attacks. BUT we all know that SE's system of implementing the updates only exacerbates the problem. They could at least TRY to do a better job up implementing the updates. Even if it's something as simple as breaking the updates up into smaller, weekly updates that don't take 30 minutes + with a high speed connection to download. I understand that the gilseller problem is always going to be an issue just from a logistical standpoint. As soon as they shut an account or even an entire operation down, another one will spring up in it's place. They're just like drug dealers. They only way to effectively combat that problem is to change some of the in-game dynamics.

But I do agree with everyone else that has said that 700 people is not going to be enough to even make SE bat an eye. Hell our entire server population would not even do the job. It would take a pretty united effort across a lot of different servers and we would need at least SOME support from English-speaking Japanese players as well. I do like the idea of calling customer support though. If enough people called often enough it would at the very least do a few things. Namely:

Keep the customer service staff very busy, even if they are just spewing SoP lines

I have worked in an in-bound customer service call center and by law all conversations were recorded into a central databased that was reviewed by independent auditors at least twice a year AND every call was required to have employee comments left on a customer's computer account. These are known and LogComs and at the very least they have to include time/date/and reason of call.

If enough comments were left by enough people, when SE reviews their customer service dept. SOMEONE SOMEWHERE is going to wonder why the same complaints keep coming up over and over again.

Phone calls also carry more weight than e-mails in the customer service business because the customer had to make more of an effort, and in some cases make a toll-call, just to make a comment. Hand written letters are even more highly regarded since they take even more effort.

All in all, I don't think a large enough concerted effort could be mounted, but I am still in favor of the attempt. And honestly, SE may not even care but you never know it could be worth a shot. Maybe we could play the loyalty card on them, seeing as how loyalty and honor are important aspects of Japanese culture (even in regards to business operations). You have to think that SE knows that the people who primarily play FFXI are not just MMORPG fans, but avid Final Fantasy/Squaresoft fans. With two new FF games due to hit North America in the next 1-2 years perhaps we could make them think about how they serve their FFXI customers if we threaten to boycott buying any of their future products. Even if you were desperate to play the new FFs, you could just rent them a lot and keep your game saves on your memory cards and SE's market-share would plummet. Anywho, super long post but I hope it was at least a little bit informative.
