Finally a trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JboQmDIdKWs

I dunno.. hmm not sure if I like that Mark Wahlberg is Max Payne cause well.. I don't think he's a great actor but maybe he'll be good. Anyone have any expectation for this movie?

I didn't realize they were actually making this movie, I heard rumours about it quite awhile ago but nothing substantial. Time to get out from my rock.

I'm actually quite impressed as the idea of Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne. I was blow away with his portrayal of Dignam in The Departed, if he uses the same edge, he'll be a great Max Payne. Anyways, I'm looking forward to this.

Idk, I feel like Mark Walhburg fits perfectly as Max payne. Might not be so bad :p

Looks great, can't wait for it to come out.

I remember when I was playing the first max payne, I thought he looked a lot like Peter Krause. Although looking now they're not as similar, but it's also been about 7 years, so the actor looks different than he use to.

This may be a stupid question but... what was with all the demons and crap in the trailer? ppl with wings etc. i don't remember anything demonic in the Max Payne games (admittedly i've not played them threw in years) but i remember it being about drugs and whatnot.

Drug trip maybe?

Similarly in my post about the MGS movie, I really want it to do well but I don't hold high expectations. I can see Wahlberg doing well playing Max Payne. Definately was impressed with him in The Departed and Shooter.

Well I would expect it be something near quality of the punisher. Which the movie was not that bad as long as you don't try to hold on to much of the comic I'd. Like most movie you go in expecting the game you will be disappointed, but the action scene looked intense. As for Mark Walhburg I don't know always been kind of hit and miss on his roles though his best roles are when he playing a action film.

that's cause the action usually doesn't require for an actor with good acting skills :D Max Payne seems like it could need good acting, then again.. who knows... Personally I found Walhburg to not be terribly good in like.. The Happening (though the movie was kinda meh anyways.. interesting death scenes but the concept was just "lol"). And, though it was a cool movie, The Italian Job.. his acting.. I dunno... *shrugs*. We'll just have to see.

there are no fucking actual demons in max payne.. thats why this movie kinda pisses me off... yeah there are fucking drug cults and shit that think there like gods and crap but i dont remember seeing a single flying demon in this ENTIRE game..

I want the movie to do good but if they dont follow the story line ill be sad :( either way i will SEE IT!!!!

I was talking to friend about this and he reminded me of the 'dream' sequences, i think they happened between levels or something, at least one of them where you'd been given an overdose of the drug the game was about, so i assume the supernatural things in the trailer could be from something like that.

The more I hear and see about this movie the more excited I am for it to be released. The casting seems to be well done, and they seem to keep quite true to the game, like how it takes place in 'the seemingly endless snowstorm'.

Many references to Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world, during which the world is swallowed by snow and darkness.

Max himself wears a Sun cross pendant, the symbol of the chief Norse god Odin, known for his prowess in battle.

The drug that forms the basis of the plot is called Valkyr, after the goddesses who brings slain heroes to Valhalla.

In Norse mythology the valkyries (Old Norse Valkyrja "Choosers of the Slain") are dísir, minor female deities, who served Odin. The valkyries' purpose was to choose the most heroic of those who had died in battle and to carry them off to Valhalla where they became einherjar

Needless to say, they're actually making a movie that resembles and stays true to the games, unlike most video game adaptations.

I dont recall seeing a SINGLE demon in the entire game, it looks like the trailer is trying to make this another demon fighting movie..

"The drug that forms the basis of the plot is called Valkyr, after the goddesses who brings slain heroes to Valhalla."

You're not seein' a demon or an angel, for that matter, in the entire trailer. I don't really see how you could feel so strongly about the story and not know what is goin' on.

I'm excited for this because I love Max Payne and Marky Mark owns face, The Happening aside, but you can't blame him for that, it's just a horribly put together piece of shit called a movie.

This thread reminded me of an awesome summary of Max Payne 2 I was recently turned on to:
