Things are changing.

For repeated flamebaiting in various domains, forums, threads, but most often of all, directly against mods and admins. Meeze has received warnings in the past for his posts against other users to precede this.

I still disagree though. And I will continue to disagree. Meeze should never be allowed back. Nobody who has been banned should be allowed back, or did policies change while I wasn't looking?

People have been allowed back. Which is why I have ground to stand on.

The idiocy has been allowed to run unchecked for too long.
 
Sorry to break it to you, Gerry. Meeze isn't pink anymore. He's able to post in LS areas and there's also been another person who was banned in the past that has recently been allowed to come back to the boards. Policies didn't change when you weren't looking, you just weren't really aware of the policies. I can understand how you might not get along with someone like Meeze.

Also BBT requested to be banned, vs. someone who was actually banned for flamebaiting continuously. I disagree, that Meeze should be allowed to come back to the public boards, just because someone who requested a ban was allowed back.

BBT barely ever used the boards, and hasn't been on since the permaban. Meeze uses them. Meeze creates excitement. Meeze actually posts in the FFXI forums as well. Meeze also knows more about melee equipment than 99% of the userbase.

We need Meeze. I need Meeze.

Thats not what I was saying. Just showing examples that when you're pink, it is possible to lose the color.

So basically the boards term for "Permanent Ban" is exactly like the UK's term of "Life Sentence" in Jail. Just PERFECT! :nono:

Think "life sentence" everywhere is like that.

Meeze is better than half the crap we want banned here anyways, wouldn't bug me to see him back.

So life sentence in the US is around 15 years or 1 year if you are a good boy for not murdering anyone in jail like in the UK?

Granted there are worse people than Meeze that's for sure, but I did check the guidelines for bans as written by Cmdrfly and approved by the mod staff and it doesn't say anywhere about flamebaiting bans being lifted.
 
BBT's situation was basically him asking us to permaban him so he didn't have to deal with this site anymore. We obliged, and now he came back and asked that we unban him. We had a discussion on it and really, it's sort of experimental. I don't even think I've seen him post since we unbanned him but I could be wrong.

meeze's ban was a little bit different. It got to the point where we had to take a step back and try to weigh which what action would better the board. Sadly, it was decided that banning him would be the best thing for the boards. Now I have worked with meeze a little bit regarding the status that he's on now. And I think we have a decent understanding. He can still browse the forums but is really only allowed to post in his own private linkshell areas.

While I want to be able to say we are willing to work with people who have been banned and get them straightened out and back on the boards, I will be honest and say there are a few people I just plain don't want to have to deal with. I'm sure people who have been on this board for a significant time would understand I don't need the windy results that are linked to certain neo type events with S.Troys everywhere.

Meeze also flamed/baited in all of those areas and more. I thought he was as hilarious as anyone else, and a voice that held a lot of power in the boards. If BBT had been previously banned for doing something wrong, you would have the level of precedence you are looking for. However, Aud is correct though, in that you can lose the pink name.

Now that you have explained it, I seem less mad about it, but still mad nonetheless.

What I got from the opening was that Meeze was being brought back fully to the board, hell I wasn't even aware that he was unbanned and allowed to keep to his own private linkshell area.

That being said, until I see hard proof that Meeze is TRULY SORRY, I'm still gonna be extremely annoyed on the matter.
