Feedback Meeze

Honestly, for entertainment purposes, Meeze is one of my all time favorites on the flameboard. Would love to see meeze back in action.

Mods, you guys are in charge of this site. You decide if people can be unbanned, not the rest of the community. If you want to unban Meeze, there is nothing that says you have to be fair on an internet forum. Would it be nice to be fair? Probably. Will the site lose enough members to shut down if you aren't? Probably not.

Citing previous examples should not be reason enough to unban someone. There's nothing that says you can't take unbanning on a case-by-case basis. You have a good portion of the community supporting the return of Meeze, with most of these supporters giving valid (debatable) reasons. If a post were to be made to unban any of the other banned names you mention, and the supporters of the banned give valid reasons to bring them back (i.e. "not you did it for Meeze why not this person?"), then you should take it into consideration.

I'm not going to comment how I feel about whether or not any of these people should be unbanned since their posting activities were before I became more active with the site. The only conclusions I can draw about these people are by the posts made, so any feelings I have about them would only be a rehash of other's opinions.

Hopefully this should clear up part of the debate when you, mods, are making your decision so you won't have to sit for awhile discussing what to do when people start defending only using previous examples. This is not a court of law; you can make your decisions however you want.

To counter the "Whats the point?" argument and to those who said he'll just fuck up again and get banned.

If you guys are so sure about this, then what do you have to lose by letting him back in? If he fucks up (according to you guys) then hes gone, and its win for you. If he comes back and he doesnt fuck up, then isnt that also a win?

No, because then they could be proven wrong, and on QCDN, that can not be allowed.

I think the staff does have to be fair, and I don't think Meeze only is the right way to do this. I do think Meeze should be allowed back. I also think Kinkkerbelle, Blazn and Windaria aught be allowed back. Peregrine too. Kink and Windaria got provoked to the breaking point. They were in the same boat as Hellstorm was, but the difference was back then the staff didn't stand up for the underdogs like they do now. Heck, as far as I'm concerned, Blazn didn't deserve any punishment till he threatened with hacks or something, and at that point he was already banned. Being dumb isn't a bannable offense now, and it shouldn't have been then. Peregrine got banned in a straw that broke the camel's back sort of deal. I'm not sure any of them would be banned if the progressive system we use today were in place. Unlike the justice system, the staff does have the power to retroactively give past offenders the benefit of new justice. Think of it like attempting to exhonerate a 15 year convict with new DNA testing. That's what this is like to me. Some might fail, but some might win too, and there's nothing wrong with a little mercy and a second chance.

Meeze is like Batman. He isn't the hero QCDN wants, he is the hero QCDN needs - even if he must be a villain.

Who's going to let the clown off the leash?

Just another way to look at your analogy.....

This coming from someone who Meeze never particularly cared for, and that being reciprocated; I don't see much harm in letting him come back, or anyone else, for that matter. If you're insistant on keeping the rules that we have now in place, then just make it clear that he, or anyone else, must act within the guidelines set forth. If he does not do so, then he will recieve the full extent of punishment, as a previous offender.

All that being said, I see this as a moot point for two very obvious reasons.

1. He just said he'll be out of the country for... 10 months, I think it was?

and 2. He's like a much more volatile version of Jamal with a much more flippant personality, thus, I find it likely he'd quickly find his way into threads like the "Bored at Work" thread that Jamal(and since he is quite similar to Jamal, Meeze probably would as well) hate so much, and start popping off, I would find it safe to assume he wouldn't last long under the current administration.

Just be very clear up front that he will not be given any extra slack just because he is an entertaining personality, and I see no harm in giving him a second chance. It's just likely that with his very blunt way of conveying things, the current ruleset would be quite constricting.

That point there is also moot because of the fact if anything did happen, odds are there would still be restrictions put in place as far as areas he could post in. Either that or non-FB posts would have to be approved I'd imagine.

This would be the smart thing to do, I agree; I was assuming a full reinstatement, but I never specified that, lol.

Edit: Two "but"s in one sentence... ouch.

As its been said before, everything is still up for discussion so this is just me speaking for myself right now. My personal opinion is that if any previously banned member was to be allowed back, specific steps should be taken towards making sure that member does not become a "repeat offender." Example: if you were banned for flamebaiting, actions would be taken to be sure that you weren't able to do that.

In closing before bed:

Meeze will NOT lick your nutsack like other 'popular' members. In fact, if you make a decision he disagrees with, he will let you know. In a way, he's a hairier version of me.

But that being said, this is exactly what I've been asking you for. A way to add content and draw popularity back to the final fantasy part of the forum.

Help me Help you.

Sweet dreams

Maybe if FFXI wasn't dying there'd be more popularity.

It died for me a long time ago. I realized I was spending more time combating RMT than enjoying the game. I stopped enjoying the game long before ToAU was released. It's a great game but it's entirely ruined by the player base being a bunch of hooting dick holes.

Oh yeah. Unban Meeze. Anyone that gets upset over words is taking this way too seriously.
