Hi,

I don't usually complaint about things, but lately, since I have been leveling in the beautiful Y & Y jungles outside of Kazham, I have developed a serious pet-peeve about some meleers:

Warning: Flame On

For all you regular meleers (WAR / MNK / THF / PLD / DRK / DRG / NIN etc. and Yes, even RDM) that depends on mages to figure out Skill chains and how to do macros for skill chains in Y & Y jungles. How you ever managed to level in Qufim is beyond me. For goodness sake, get a Renkei chart. There are plenty of good ones off the internet for free!

Flame Off

Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I feel better now. I have to say, usually I don't see this issue with people leveling advanced jobs such as NIN / PLD / DRG / DRK, but you would be surprised how often SC gets completely ignored by the advanced job players. It's frustration to see people wasting perfectly good TP and chaining / Magic burst opportunities, and just spinning their wheels whacking away blindly without any coordination.

What's up Onidori? Yeah i know what you are talking about. I don't know a whole lot, but I do know a few. And if I see an opportunity to do a SC i'll do it.

i hate it when the melees say, "there's no blm, we don't need to SC".

The real kicker is when 33+ THFs tell their SAM (me), who offers to do Distortion chains with them both, that it's not worth it.
I don't care if there's a MB or not. That 200+ damage Distortion effect is well worth the tiny effort.

You left SAM off your list of Melee who should be working out Skillchains. A SAM who isnt governing the group's skillchains is a pretty worthless SAM imho.

Damn skippy keits....fyi...im currently making my own Renkei chart including how to get the confusing transfixion-even tho its called penetration on charts-chain  ...all it is is dark to light WS. But im reorganizing the charts and including the missing links, such as reverb to impact. etc etc, i think theres only 2 missing links actually, and adding in the missing ninja WSs and the horrible translation (or lack of)...Kummeiken=Howling Fists. Mob elemental weaknesses (adding the missing ones, skelly and slimes). Honestly, its not a whole lot of work, but us NA players need a better chart...the only good ones are a select few....very few JP ones. Anyways, ill post it once im done.

i resent the rdm comment :P i am the one that forms the Scs in my partys in the crawlers nest ^^ ill admit i didnt learn how 2 sc till i was 37 >< lol but i also did my 1st mb not to long ago pld used shining blade and i mbed it with paralyze that was interesting ^^

as a SAM, i know a decent amount of chains to do, however i usually give in to the flow of the pt to see what everyone wants to do.
sometimes no-one wants to SC at all. while other times mages and melees argue which ones to do.
being in the 40's makes it a little easier, usually there is a thf in the pt
and i just start the SC and let the thf finish it with SAnTA and his WS.
and almost everytime, there are 2 more melees in the group who cant seem
to co-operate enough to pull of a 2nd SC. /sigh

it also doesnt help that the widely available renkei charts are too damn confusing, it took me a while to figure them out.
if a real easy to understand renkei chart is out there, someone please post the link. this may help some of the SC "issues" that seem to plague most pt's

KEITS!!! OMG!! WHY DIDNT YOU POST THIS EARLIER!! omg...wow. ive learned so damn much just from reading the chart. it was a little confusing at first because the placement was very odd to me, but i understand it now completely. forget the chart i was making, this truly is a flawless chart. just wow, if u dont have this chart, get it, its perfect. and i also got that SC possibility calculator from the same site....damn. Ima be a renkei fiend!!....=p

I looked at that chart and was thoroughly confused, im tryin to learn about SC since i have a melee character now, and could probably use some help.

dont look at it and think of the old chart. To more easily identify the elements, just look at the pictures. Bottom left light blue is ice, above that blue is water, the har right is dark, above that is earth, between those is light, above light is fire, and so on and so forth. You kinda just need to figure out what element the weapon skills ppl are using is and you can find it on the chart and go from there.
On the top right, the four dbl-elmts are for lvl3 chains. The only elements that can produce a lvl three chain is either light or dark. Both elements consist of four other elements. Light consists of light, fire, thunder, and wind. Dark consists of dark, earth, ice and water. You have to produce all four elements for either element to do the lvl 3 chain. So you have two options in going about doing this. You can produce a lvl2 chain and follow it with a combinationed ws. For example, we launch Shining Blade to Tachi: Kagerou, that would give us our lvl2 fusion chain....fusion contains light/fire. Thats two elements down for light. Now you just need a duo ws that contains both wind and thunder...hmm....could use Dragon kick and thatd produce our lvl3 chain. Back on track, the top right four elements is used to show how to get a lvl3 chain with only two weapon skills. Since each ws has two elements, you only need 2 to get 4. So, Full Break to Swift Blade would make a lvl3 dark chain. The diagonal arrows dont show what kind of chain it would be, but it wont be a lvl 3, only a lvl 2. Just look at what the arrow is pointing to. Mistral Axe to Swift Blade would only produce a lvl2 Gravitation chain. Same goes for the other side, youd produce a distortion chain.
If you go up an arrow, look at the top bow on it, if u go down, look at the bottom box, simple as that. Its just confusing because of the placement. This is a much more efficient chart once u get used to it.

Not to sound like a dink...but i generally dont include PLD in the skillchain. I play a PLD but even when im leveling something else...its hard for a PLD to build TP as frequently as the actual melee jobs. I usually use all of my MP every battle and have to heal in-between...which makes TP accumulation pretty tough. Also since im Galkan, my gear is mainly focused towards my VIT and MP+ items...so my DEX isnt top-notch like some melees with Balance Rings, etc. So im not hitting as often as they are. Just a thought for the next time you try to throw PLD into the SC

Thanks alot Pseulen, i cant say that i get it entirely now...cuz id be lying but im startin to get it, thank ya very much.

You dont throw the PLD into the skillchain.... you throw him into a skillchain.

If you group has a Quick TP job, such as Samurai, Ranger, or sometimes Monk, you should usually build a few two-part skillchains, rather than one long one.

Do it for your mages.

Thats why I love War\Nins or Nin\Wars, They can always be there to put in for a SC. (Three part Light chains KICK ASS)
