I wrote this last night, don't know why, I know it sucks no one has to tell me but please feel free :P . Anyways, was tired sure there are typos, things forgotten and misspelled words. Forgive me. It's a bit rushed and lacks details, I didn't want it to be too long and make people fall asleep.

“What are you doing?” you asked.

“Cooking and thinking.” I replied.

“Thinking?”

“Yes.”

Staring up at the moon in the middle of West Ronfarue, I wondered why I was here. Why had I chosen to study the art of redmage? I couldn’t answer it. Instead I trained, working to learn my new abilities and spells.

I soon grew tired and rest next to a camp fire that the beastmen sometimes wandered over to. Hoping to catch one to kill I waited. Instead of a beastman, and elvaan approached.

“Hello,” he said.

“Hi, How are you?”

“I’m good. May I sit?”

“Sure.”

He sat with me for hours, talking of our adventures soon to come. He was a native of this land, San d’Oria. I was hume and originally from Bastok, though I don’t remember ever being there. The sun rose and the fire went out. We bowed, waved and went our separate ways, not knowing if we’d ever meet again.

For days I continued my training, growing stronger, making money and learning my wonderful spells. Spells that could make a monster weak and defenseless. Spells that could heal people. Soon, a friend who I had not seen in a very long time met up with me. Shinryuken, already trained in so many jobs, mainly monk. He helped me with my training, taking me to a place called the Valkrum Dunes, where we met up with more adventurers just starting out. We killed monsters all around us, sharing the treasure we found on them.

He introduced me to a good friend of his, Runekane, who let me join a guild. I met many friends there, though some are long gone now, will never be forgotten. I continued working hard towards my then goal of holding the power to bring people back to life.

During my time in Valkrum Dunes, I befriended a little tarutaru named Juando. I stayed by his side when he died and no others would. We’ve adventured a lot together since, both growing stronger.

Finally becoming too strong for the Valkrum Dunes, I soon had to make a challenging run to a land called Jeuno.

I had never been there, and knew many obstacles were in my way, so I called upon Runekane. He lead me through La Thiene Plateau, Jugner Forest with it’s tigers that looked like they could kill me in one hit, and finally we reached Batilla Downs. A dusty place full of hills and dead looking trees. Tigers also roamed here, which I soon found out could kill me in one hit. I died half way to the gates of Jeuno. Runekane called upon a Whitemage. A class I envied for their healing powers. They got many spells that could bring adventurers back to life, the stronger the spell, the less sickness you received.

Arezael, who would soon become a good friend, ran out to me. He raised me and ran me safely to Jeuno. I thanked him and Runekane and went on my way to getting a Chocobo License. I had always wanted to ride a chocobo.

Days and nights I spent getting my license, finally I received it. I was able to rent them from all over Vana’diel. I retired to my moghouse after receiving my license to rest. My moogle took care of things while I slept.

I awoke and took on my new adventure, Qufim Island. Ghosts and banshees roamed wild here at night, giants roamed day and night. It was an awful place. I again wondered why I was doing this. Still no answer came to mind and I pushed on. Growing stronger, making new friends learning more spells, going on more missions for my adopted country of San d’Oria.

Arezael helped me with many quests, including getting my Race Specific Armor from a goblin of all things. Why a goblin was allowed to run a store in the heart of Lower Jeuno I didn’t know, and still don’t.
I receive rank 5 from San d’Oria shortly after. Finally getting an airship license. No long restricted to walking or riding chocobos everywhere.

I tried other jobs, Beastmaster, I always loved and will never forget was one of my favorites. I never advanced too far into it but loved the time I spent learning it. Blackmage, a powerful job, I learned a little but never enjoyed it. I didn’t like not being able to really save people. And I wanted that spell still to raise people.

I continued on with redmage, passing many friends in the process, learning so fast. I adventured with many different people. Some experienced, others not so.

Arezael left during this time, why I still do not know or how. He said his goodbyes and never returned to this day.

Finally one day, after so much work behind me, I learned to raise. It was one of the best days of my life. I ran around helping newer adventurers, still learning the basics of their jobs.

I realized soon after learning this wonderful spell I wanted to know more. I wanted to keep training.

Runekane, still my guild leader and annoying little tarutaru asked me to join him and some friends to go train together. I agreed. Runekane, Harmoney, Halas, Anglis, Jobe and I started training together soon after.
We had many good times together, others not so good. We started our Artifact Armor quests together. I believe I was the only to finish my quest though. I don’t remember now.

Our last night training together we ran into a rather large problem. Guivre, hated by many, killed almost all of us, myself included. I got lost, and the others came back for me, I’ve always blamed myself. Soon after we all parted ways, I stayed in Jeuno, in the guild. The others left even though many asked them not to. I knew one day I’d see them again.

I quit training for a long time. Made money, fished, learned to cook. Anything I could do to keep myself occupied. I joined more guilds, left my old one, made new friends, lost old ones. The cycle repeated for a long time.

I met a friendly adventurer named Fleur. A mithra. She was training as redmage also. What I didn’t know at the time was she would pass me up like I did with so many others. She became a wonderful friend and still is.

By now Shinryuken, my friend who I had passed so long ago was complete with his training of monk. He could now fight Gods. Powerful beings I knew I’d never lay eyes on.

I met an adventurer named Fyrus somewhere along the way. We became close, and were engaged to marry soon after meeting. We went and killed strong monsters together, earning money and just running into dangerous places knowing we could die. Had fun, something I hadn’t experienced in a long time.

I soon took up my training again. Becoming stronger. I finally was able to wear my complete Artifact Armor I had obtained long ago. It was one of my happiest times. Walking around in my full red outfit, to me it meant I had accomplished something, to others it meant nothing.

I soon met up with another group of adventurers that wanted to train together. I again agreed. We had good times, and bad. I soon left them from lack of enjoyment in the job once again.

During my time with them, old friends came back into the light. Anglis, Jobe, Runekane, and Harmoney came back from where they had gone. Runekane and Harmoney left again quickly, why I don’t know. I shared stories with them about what I had done since they left. Rejoined old guilds I thought I wouldn’t be welcomed in and soon learned I was wrong.

Fyrus left then, to where I don’t know. And I stopped my training once again. For the last time.

“What are you doing?” Fleur asked.

“Cooking and thinking.” I replied.

“Thinking?”

“Yes.”

I left Windurst, a country that I called home for a long time and returned to Jeuno. I took a look around, at the shops, the people I had never gotten a chance to meet. I ran to my moghouse and changed into my beloved Artifact Armor, knowing it would be the last time I would wear it. On my way out, there sat Fleur. My best friend, I waved goodbye and used a ring that harnessed a whitemage spell within it to teleport myself to the Mea crag, outside of Windurst.

I rented my last chocobo and rode through Meriphatuad Mountains, then into The Sanctuary of Zi’Tah. A beautiful place I had always loved visiting. I rode through the deepest parts of it, towards Ro’Maeve. A place I was always afraid of being in. Dangerous monsters dwelled within, but today I was fearless.

I ran through the weapons, sneaking past them. And made it to the place I was always the happiest and able to think clearest at. The Hall of the Gods.

I ran in and took it all in. The statues, the light pouring in through the ceiling, everything. Knowing at the other end through a gate was where the Gods lived. A place I will never visit.

I sat in the middle of the walkway, adventurers passing me without a glance.

Why have I done all this? Why had I studied redmage for so long? I asked myself again. This time the answer was clear. I loved the power, the ability to help others, the friends I had made along the way, everything about it was why.

I closed my eyes, finally at peace knowing the answer and drifted into the darkness so many before me had gone into...
