Skaw said:I really want to know what your definition of "VERY long" is, considering the summer before Promathia was released, Black Mage cannons started picking up pace. I can guarantee you Black Mage was pretty top tier choice because of the plague of Big Numbers Syndrome a few years back. I'm thinking you're forgetting exactly how old the 75 cap actually is.
If you want more skillchains, demand Square-Enix make TP numbers that don't end X00% add to the equation, because saving TP for chains is extremely worthless when the only time the equation is modified is every 100%. Thats whats causing skillchains to simply be skipped in 75 PTs, it's just a downgrade in damage to save, quite possibly less damage than the actual chain and burst depending on circumstances.
I guess very long is subjective, but I hit 75 in March following the PS2 release. Even then it was a very tough thing to find a pickup as a 73+ Blm. I was very lucky that I had a static with a simply awesome group of peeps as am sure that given my lack of interest in xp and my penchant for adventuring and crafting, that I never would have made 75. Sure manaburns picked up, but it was out of necessity. Very few wanted a blm as it was seen as an anchor job and somewhat rightfully so at those levels. However, to compare manaburns then to what TPburns are now is like saying Plds were just as popular as Nins are now.
As for your second para, I don't know what the answer is, I just miss bursting. now it seems limited to HNMs and gods only.
