Merit Party Discrimination

I'll merit/xp with you guys anytime. Doesn't have to be on my PLD either, I'll bring war out if you'd rather have it. I'm not a burn-onry type, I level every job so I have sympathy for all of them too, lol.

I should have time this weekend. :)

do i smell some merits? if im available and ya need a mnk ill go too.

i had many pt at pudding camps with 6 blm and 5 blm+1 brd, just same experience. the bard is useless, its not a tP burn, we are limitted by our mp and by the sspawn time of the mobs ( we kill them very fast), there is only like 11-12 mobs to kill. Chain 11 is the max i got, and thats w/o a brd.

now if you have good BLms ( which i am not), dont even need 6. The last manaburn i had we were 4 BLM only, we did 19 k in 2 hours. then we invited 2 blm that passed here, same exp/h.

well the problem aginst t- vt mobs blm are kinda dead weight by the time you get a spell off mob is dead. Now there the tree camp in mire and the troll camp in mount Z, both have IT mobs, also The U range. Your best beat whould be to pick up a pld a thf, rdm, whm and a dd that can chain light with the thf. Im sure the plds will <3 you.

i liked those pt either as thf or blm. actually, to tell the truth, i had no idea what a "cannon" was until i start meriting, a few month after reaching 75. Before that i ALWAYS invited a BLM, because i didnt know you can exp without them. I was finding strange being the only thf in my ls loving Shark Bite, and never used DE in xp pt after 66. I still met thf saying "SB is the shit", which is false if you fight IT mobs. My best ws dmg on thf came from a MB pt in lufaise, did 2400 or so with SB or Evi, ligh or dark SC ( with a sam), including SC bonus.

Resson do not need blm in TP burn parties:
They bitch if you ask for a cure,
Can not MB on time
Shit at stunning when you need it
Rest at the wrong time
Gimp them self in gear when you see all the WARs etc go out and farm and save for a huberk what is 2mill (idk not been on game for a week now) but a BLM will not buy HQ staff for there main spell.

Resson you need them in a TP burn:
...
.....
........

I don't bitch if someone needs a cure, and neither do most BLMs who aren't noob idiots. We sub WHM for a reason, and it's not just simply for Stoneskin and Blink. Sounds like you've pted with some noob idiots who have colored your perspective.

Most BLM who have come up in normal, competent parties know how to MB, can do it properly, and live for the damage they dish out during MBs. Again you're basing your opinion on the job upon the actions of idiots, which there are plenty of on ANY job. I can't tell you the number of times coming up where melees didn't know how to properly do a SC. You'd get people randomly flinging their own WS into the middle of a SC, or doing the wrong WS, or not even bothering with a SC stating "Let's just solo WS it's easier that way". Does that make me state all melees are idiots and can't properly SC so I can MB? No. Why? Because I base my opinions on the actions of individual players and the potential the job has when played properly, not on the actions of people who don't know what they are doing regardless of what job they are playing. Lastly as to why some BLMs don't always hit tier IV single target or tier III -ga MBs is because their timing is a bit off since they haven't gotten a chance to get their timing down because most 70+ parties don't bother to do a SC so they can practice. Like all skills you have to do it to learn to do it properly.

Stunning things with short cast/use times can be difficult at times due to ping time issues, lag issues, already casting a spell when the ability is started, and even simple human reflex times. Generally if we know something detremental is coming we can hit the mark, but hitting every single thing you seem to think should be stunned and when it doesn't calling the BLM shit for not doing what you feel is their duty is showing your complete ignorance at the realities of playing as a BLM and what our job truly is.

Rest at the wrong time? When exactly is the wrong time to rest? When the mob is almost dead an another nuke would just be overkill? Go ahead and rest. Out of MP during the fight? Sure, rest to get a few ticks of MP so if the WHM runs low, or an extra nuke is needed to kill off a stubborn mob, or any other use you might need in the battle before it's over, sure rest so that you can continue to do your job and not just stand there with your thumb up your arse getting 3 mp a tick from your refresh hoping you might get enough mp to do something should you need to. Or how about when a mob is pulled and you're still low on mp? Sure rest an extra tick or two while the tank builds hate so you can unleash something nice when you stand up and have more mp when you do so to boot. I'm thinking perhaps you don't truly know when a BLM should be resting and so this complant perhaps also stems from your own ignorance of the realities and responsibilities of the job.

Lastly dealign with gear, most BLMs who enjoy their job strive to get the gear that enhances their profession. I have 3 HQ staves, and have worked my arse off to get them, as well as the other potent gear I have that makes me a better spell DD. I've spent countless hours farming and working for these things. I know many other BLMs who have done the same thing. I don't know these BLMs you are speaking of, obviously they are of a low caliber in our profession, but making a blanket statement like this that is so obviously false to those of us who travel in circles with many BLms in addition to being BLMs ourselves shows you to be someone who bases your opinions on little empircal data and jumps to conclusions rooted in ignorance and insanity.

In 2 1/2 years, I've been in probably 7 manaburns. How many tp burns have most melle been in since the expansion came out?

If justice is owed, I'm pretty sure it's been served by now.

Amen! I was in 1 Manaburn party in the time I played before the expansion came out. I've been in about 7 or 8 manaburn parties total in my entire career as a BLM. BLM Manaburns are not overly common pre 70 because of having to find so many of a single job seeking at the same time in a certain range. It's much easier to assemble standard parties than a manburn party pre-70, and those are the types of parties MOST BLMs experienced in during that time, and even now getting together a manaburn party isn't nearly as easy as getting together a melee cannon party, and when we do most of the time it's an all BLM pt because the bloody cannon parties soak up all the refresh jobs.

Archmage, congrats on not being a shitty blm, but please stop acting like they don't exist. At least half of the blm's out there suck(barely have the brain cells to MB), and a good amount are just gimping their way to 75 and practically nuke bot for all the effort they put into a party.

BLM's aren't effective for the vast majority of camps, and few people are going to want to risk having an incompetent blm on top of that. This is where friends come into play, party with them, stop threatening strangers.

i am gimp, i dont have hq staffs, boo fucking whoo, HQ staffs dont make a blm :D

that and im to poor to afford anything now a days

does that make me shitty?

I never said they don't exist. My point is that there are people who suck and are completely incompetent who play ALL jobs. If you invite someone who doesn't know what they are doing and is unwilling to learn kick them, replace them with someone worthwhile, then write down their name and don't party with them again.

A party of strangers isn't just a place of risk of finding an incompetent player, it is always an opportunity to make friends outside of your linkshell community within the game and expand your horizons. You can't make new friends if you don't meet and interact with new people.

Nope, it doesn't make you shitty, just as you said means you are poor. I'd be happy to share some gil making tips with you if you need them. I understand that equipment is expensive. ^^

Ok, and I can interact with new people without partying with people who aren't useful in the vast majority of exp parties. I'm also very rarely the one building these parties, so I usually don't have much say in who gets invited; still managed to meet new people though.

In fact, I'd say that it should be the other way around, if you're so hellbent on being in a traditional party as your only way to gain exp. Your LS is why you're losing exp, your LS is the ones who want you to have the merits and stay 75, so they should be the ones helping you out with standard parties. Hell, manaburn with the other blm's in your LS, so you'll actually get good exp. Once blm actually brings something to normal exp parties in most of the exp camps, then they'll be desired again; but until now they're not useful for most camps. Maybe you guys need to bother listening to that point rather than just blame people for "hating your job."

Did I miss any jobs? Anyhow, there's noone left to party with. That's why everyone cannons. Every job but one's own job is comprised 50% of idiots.

No, every job has a bunch of idiots in it, I notice them in my jobs more than any other because I'm well versed in how to play them well. I fail to see where you're going with this, other than point out the obvious that there are a lot of idiots out there playing every job. That doesn't show why people cannon, people cannon because they want the most exp/hour they can get, and melee cannons get that. The maximum exp/hour for blm is through a manaburn, so go do that or get your friends to exp with you and the other "non-cannonable" jobs to form a exp party.

Yeah, I guess I wasn't all that clear. I forgot to write the point. I was just trying to say that the risk of inviting a bad player shouldn't be a reason that a job isn't invited, and that because it is, people do nothing but cannon because even a handful of idiots can get good exp in either of the two burn parties. I meant to say that in my big post of quotes and got distracted.
