Merit Point Addition

With the upcoming merit point additions, you will be able to improve your character even further with all-new abilities and spells in the existing 15 job categories.
Merit point job categories will also become available for blue mages, corsairs, and puppetmasters.

Merit Point Categories

The existing 15 job categories will be improved to allow players the opportunity to further customize their level 75 characters with unique abilities.
These improved categories will include 4 to 8 abilities for each job. Depending on the distribution of merit points, it will be possible for players to access multiple new abilities.
Check out the upcoming version update news for what's in store.

- Subcategories
The 15 existing job categories will be divided into subcategories. Group 1 will include conventional abilities, while Group 2 will include the new job abilities, job traits, and spells.

- Accessing New Abilities
You can access Group 2 abilities by spending 1 point on the ability you wish to learn. Additional points spent on the same ability will shorten the recast time or enhance the effect (refer to the help text for each ability to learn the specific bonus).
Lowering the number of merit points in an ability to zero will cause it to disappear from your ability list.

- Ability Point Maximums
The Group 1 and Group 2 subcategories have separate totals for the maximum number of possible ability increases. Spending merit points to improve conventional abilities will not affect the acquisition of the new abilities.

Merit Points for Blue Mages, Corsairs, and Puppetmasters

In the upcoming version update, merit point job categories will be added for the three new jobs introduced in the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion disc.
These categories will initially contain only the Group 1 subcategory, allowing players to improve the basic abilities for these jobs.

I wonder which abilities/spells whm will get Oo

They better not make treasure hunter meritable. While its a nice idea in theory it would make it impossible for thf to get into hnm ls even more.
Thf barely get merit parties and attaining the merits would be a bitch to get.
I can see any thf not in a HNMls already being required to have that merit TH to cap if that would happen similar to how many only accept TH3+ on several servers.
Meritable options for thf should be interesting. We dont have alot of ja and JT worth meriting that isnt merited already.
I hope thf gets a either a haste trait or an acc+ trait. an atk+ trait makes no sense on thf.
Crit+ trait might seem nice too although not as good as the others.
an additional effect eva down or def down trait might make sense for thf.
even a trait that adds in "bleeding" dot which doesnt affect sleep would be good.

New thought. Maybe a random TA or SA proc trait could be there so that thf could keep the hate control concept while doing more dd damage in a merit party..

Merits tend to be job specific and I see no reason why this new set wouldnt be a bunch of job specific traits.
Yeah hastega would be nice.
I think with this blm nerf against nm coming up these merits are designed to make the gods and other hnm just as easily killed/more killable and encourage variety.
another trait thf might like is a randomly ignore defense trait on thier hits?

BRD should get "Shriek" a 30 second recast on a skill that deafens a target that aggro's by sound for 20 seconds. Maybe make it so things that track by sound drop aggro if used while running away from them.

Something as stupid and useless as that would be right up SE's alley.

Hell yeah, make TH meritable. Assuming TH1 is 1%, TH2, 2% etc just make it so each merit is like 4 or 5 points (a ton) and have it only do .005%. Five of those and with no TH3 or TH4 you could have 2.25%.

Maybe smaller increase or more merits to increase it but only bump it up a tiny, tiny bit.

Lol, something along the lines of Brd Af, which is only as useless as it is fugly.

I wonder what Bst will get....

As far as new spells go just check the .dats check topic that was made when toa came out.
They were probably intended to be put in since back when toa came out. Everyone remember breakga and silencega spells that were found?

This looks to be the best update I've ever seen outside of adding TOA in.
If they had kept the chocoupdate in this would have been an orgasmic update.

Meh the hands and legs are alright. Infact no the hands are pretty damn good :)

Edit - Does this mean BRD will get that "low level Mazurka" SE were talking about?

Hands are really the only worthwile part honestly. It was more of a joke, but yeah, i do believe there's better equip for brd other than AF, excluding hands.

Cheers

Maybe introduce some of the BLM spells that are in the .dats but not implemented or are beastmen only spells?

For example - Aspir 2, Bio 3, Tier 2 Ancient Magic (Flare II etc).

And even for NIN's the Utsusemi: San spell could be introduced? :o

Many people say it'd break the game. That nin is overpowered the way it is.

I kinda agree honestly... With a third Utsu, we'd literally never run outta shadows...

But yeah, adding new spells for everyone is the way to go...
I, for one, would love to see Jubaku: Ni. But that's just me!

Cheers

Jubaku NI yes please,

The Brady Games Guide says I was supposed to have it at level 54 maybe they were right all along?
