Just curious if Job Specific Merits are active if they are Sub job-ed?

i.e. You lvl you 75 Red Mage and Merits in + in wind accuracy.

When you play your 75 Blm/Rdm, are those RDM merits active?

I recall reading somewhere that they arn't, anyone offer some insight?
 
No, job specfic merits are for that job, at 75, only. As in, you don't get incrimental benefits either.

I saw a Lv75's exp once. I can't remember what the exp was like, but you could get like 75000 exp or something, can't you? Why don't people just get more exp so they don't delevel? Of course, my eyes could have just been decieving me when I saw that.

What if your job lvl is cap'd? You still cant get any benefits from it?

That's what merits are for. You have to talk to the Moogle floating beside Maat, and he'll switch you from "Experience Points" to "Merit Points", or so I've read.
 
so if i put merits in and increase my STR by 4.. it will go for every job that i play.. such as me startin a level 1 PLD.. i will have the 4 extra STR right?

if i level warrior to 75 and merit double attack 5 times.. and then i use nin/war in an exp PT at 50.. my double attack bonus isn't carried over?

not sure on all the merit rules and the posts before didn't really clear it up for me hehe

You won't have 4 STR at level 1. You get your bonus from merits in increments if you're under, I think, 70. You start recieving bonuses at 10, and get more every 10 levels.

But yes. If you increase the Double Attack Trait in the Warrior Category 5 times, you will only have that bonus on Warrior. And ONLY while it is level 75.

Since you put it that way, I believe you... But I could have sworn someone said something about the moogle right beside Maat.
 
The moogle right beside maat is who you talk to to get the limit breaker key item. It's what lets you change between exp and limit points when your buffer isn't capped. If you don't talk to the moogle, then you have to wait until your buffer is capped before you can earn merits.
 
I'm pretty sure you need to talk to the moogle regardless, Bajaratt. But yeah, the key item enables the Meirt Point submenu under the Status menu.
 
Might be, I just talked to him as soon as I hit 75, so I dont know if it's required or not.
