So, with only 2 weeks until Metallicas new album is released, what is everyones opinion/ideas on how it might turn up?

Previously, I was skeptical, but after hearing the first two singles I could not be more exstatic!

Theyve finally returned their style to the roots we used to know in the "...And Justice for all" and "Master of Puppets" etc, and I believe that this will be an amzaing album.

So far there will be 4 versions of the album to be release;

Wikipedia says... said:
  • Experience 2
Digital download of Death Magnetic at 320 kbit/s, ringtones, two live shows, additional two hours of exclusive "making of" footage, 250 photos. Also includes exclusive Mission: Metallica footage of the writing and recording of Death Magnetic, as well as riffs and excerpts from it, exclusive photos and live tracks.
  • Experience 3
A physical copy of Death Magnetic CD. Also includes the same extras as Experience 2.
  • Experience 4
A set of Death Magnetic on five vinyl LP albums, in a 180-gram box, with five individual sleeves and a Mission: Metallica lithograph. Also includes the same extras as Experience 2 and 3.
  • The Box Magnetic
A collector's edition white coffin-shaped box, available in three different sizes (M, L, or XL), which includes a Death Magnetic CD in a special carton box, an additional CD with 10 demos of the songs from the album,[28] a DVD of additional "making of" footage not seen on Mission: Metallica, an exclusive t-shirt with the Death Magnetic logo, a flag, guitar picks, a fold out coffin-shaped poster with the members of Metallica,[28] and a collector's credit card with a code for a free download of a performance in Europe in September

They have gone back to the origional style of song writing, and in 4 years of producing they have finally reached the end. August 10th, 2008 Death Magnetic was finished. Now, September 12 is the D-Day of 'ALL THAT IS METAL!'

So, my excitement meter is at an 8 out of 10. How does everyone else feel?

Imma download the entire album.

I'm excited. I seem to be the only one who liked St. Anger (that I know) because it was back to the original Metallica. I havent heard any of the new stuff, Imma go look for it now.

I personally feel St. Anger should be stricken from the history of all that is Metallica. St. Anger was honestly one of their worst albums in my opinion.

I enjoyed St Anger too, dont rate me down because of it. It had some heavy features, but it was "Metallica" style. This one DEFINATELY is

I can't stand anything after Black album. Nothing will beat Ride the Lightning album. I can't believe they are still going at it. The real Metallica died in the early 90s.

Spoilers: The album leaked a few days ago. And it's fucking FANTASTIC.

This is, without a doubt, the best album they've put out since ...And Justice For All, imo. Other than Hetfield's voice, a lot of these songs sound like they could have come off the old albums. I was skeptical after hearing My Apocalypse; it was metal but it didn't hold much of a candle to the old stuff. However, the rest of the album completely surprised me with sheer awesomeness.

Got it the hour it was released. Lucky search one night bored... and i completely agree.

I just listened to Unforgiven 3, thats the song I cared about most because I loved the first unforgiven.

And holy shit its actually good :O GOnna have to see what the rest of the album is like soon

I still have too much St. Anger flavor in my mouth to buy the album, but I'll probably pirate it

I am impressed... This is a very good album..

Likewise.

St Anger felt like Metallica had tried to mimic various aspects of Alice in Chains whilst attempting to maintain that Metallica feeling, and it just didn't feel right.
