MGS4 Disc Two....

That's ironic, because with the 5 separate installs throughout the game, you might as well have had 5 discs.

For the amount of load times it diminishes, I am going to go with no.

Especially when you think back to old MGS's where the rooms were really fairly small, and thus had load times between each of them. As compared to now where you'll find maybe 4-5 of them per act.

And besides, the install screen for act 5 reminded me that it was after 5AM and that I should get to sleep. I ignored it of course, but it was there! (And I really didn't know it was after 5, stupid act 4 being so awesome)

Its funny you should post this... I have kinda been waiting lol.
Now with all this talk of blueray...

This game still has blackout load screens between areas.

This game has the same audio quality as every other game...
They claim the uncompressed audio will be worth it yet i dont hear anything more impressive. And yes i have a great surround sound system.

Installing after every chapter was very annoying.

The game is very very short and linear. Sure you can take your time and slowly stealth, but how does that make the game take up more disk space? lol... I beat it in 4Hrs 13Minutes.

The cut scenes were completely over done... I found myself falling asleep at times, i swear i am telling the truth there lol. Tho they were kinda needed, i guess Hideo just needs a better editor to get out some of the crap.

Now i realy enjoyed the game. I think it was great. I am just saying this Blueray is needed argument and the joke inside the game was completely stupid... Its obvious that without 6 hours of cutscenesand uncompressed audio this game wouldnt take up anything on a DVD9.

I believe that a lot of it was because there were SO, SO, SO many different textures as a result of there being a lot of different environments and within the environments, a lot of variety, and all the textures are in really stunning detail. When you look at a lot of other games that look top notch, you might notice that they reuse a lot of the same artwork about 100 times.

As for discs, hard drives installs, load times, ext, from a design perspective... you can't know what decisions were really going on. Another thing, splitting things up to discs isn't that simple. A lot of information would have to be repeated. Also, you're talking about chucking out the hard drive when you complain about install time, and you don't know how much that helped.

I totally dissagree with you on the textures. The pics you posted in the other MGS thread are on par with Haze textures. They look really terrible. The character detail is great but in no way can i agree with you on the actual in game textures. The view from a distance is pretty decent but once you get up close, which you would be the whole time hiding on a wall, the details are not great my friend. Sorry. The game does not look bad at all, Kojima just did a really good job making bad textures look fine, i guess almost like CoD4 did.

I dont really agree with your idea about "Different" textures taking up the space, but its not a bad idea. In defense of other games that do use similar art work through out the game, maybe the game takes place in the same area of their in game world?

Im sorry fire i just dont buy this whole bluray thing for this gen. MGS4 was all the evidence i needed to make the grounds i stand on solid. Compress the audio and this is on DVD9? lol...

EDIT: I will not complain about the install times, they were just a little annoying is all... Not half as annoying as the load screens midway through a chase scene, or the "Please Press Start" midway through a cut scene.

People forget that the cutscenes were kinda needed to explain everything that happened in the first 3 games. Of course they're going to be long but if you want to find out what happened/whats going on story wise, it should not be that big of a bother to you.

Also the install times between the acts are what, 2-3 minutes tops? Thats like a built in bathroom/snack break.

And osi, 4h13m? Thats believeable on a lower difficulty but do that shit on the boss extreme man lol.

It was on norm difficulty. There would not be much difference in time on big boss dificulty, which i am on atm. Just more frustration and time that doesnt add up in your score.

Osy, do you constantly have to tell us how much you dislike the game? We get it, already.

Ass hat i make sure every time i say something on the negative side, that i feel is true about this game... I make sure to also adress the fact i think the game is great and enjoyed it alot. The negatives are usually small things i feel personally anyways.

I do this so that people like you, dont do what you just did. I get it... You only want honest opinions of a MGS fanboy in a MGS thread. For sure the voiced opinion of someone who does not enjoy this series, yet, enjoyed this game very much is not wanted here.

What negative remarks i post here are what i experienced. I just get a little annoyed with every new game being the best game ever! Best looking game ever! Best story ever!

Grow up and maybe next time counter someones opinion like say, Firestreak would do. Voice your opinion and not your childish attitude. I just can not leave something i do not agree with here left alone, if ya dont like it, sorry.

I don't need to counter anything. Your mind has been made up about the game. I personally enjoyed the game and will continue to enjoy it with each play through. I never asked for your honest opinions because no one else's opinion but mine matters.(To me atleast)

I mean really, you say you keep getting annoyed with every new game. That's like saying, "Well, I keep smashing my hand in the door and it only gets more annoying with every smashing."

Really don't know what you're talking about with the textures. I think you have to take the standards you're scrutinizing MSG4's graphics with and pop in your old favorites and look at them at the same closeness. I mean damn... look at Ninja Gaiden 2. They don't even have textures most of the time, just freaking solid color walls.

Not saying MSG4 is perfect, just pointing out that when you look at the game as a whole... the way the textures are, the characters, the engine, the cutscenes, the transition between cutscenes and gameplay, the pacing... when you look at it as a whole, it's really unrivaled.

Yes the story has some stupid parts. The monkey is stupid. A few parts toward the ending is stupid. Yes there are 3 second or so breaks between zones to load up the new level off the harddrive. Yes there are 3 minute installs between each act.

If you're trying to plow through the game full speed, you'll notice these as a slight annoyance. If you are playing the game the first time through, trying to take in the story, you won't mind in the slightest.

I also wish there was another act, or some V.R. missions. Not because I don't feel like the content I got was worth $60. It was worth it and then plenty more. But because I just didn't want it to end because I was having so much fun.

So please Konami... VR missions on PSN would be great.

And by the way, I think if they tried to port MGS1 onto this engine, cut out the Octocamo cause Snake didn't have it then... cut out Metal Gear Online... sold it for $40 bucks... it could be PS3/360, sell a million easily on each platform, and not take all that much effort for Konami. Also it would be something fans would love to have happen.

yea, thats all well and good but you've been "voicing your opinion" about the small flaws since the beginning of the official mgs4 thread and it's seriously getting tired

if you claim to enjoyed the game then why do you feel it's necessary to nit pick all of its tiny flaws? wouldn't the flaws not matter to you if you liked the game?

i mean seriously why does every little thing need to be top notch elite to be awesome?

It alright for someone to pick on a game a bit as long as they aren't making ridiculous claims. If everyone had the exact same opinion it would be boring. When I feel a game is over-hyped I like to point out it's not perfect too, just important to take the same standards of judging a game back and look at my old favorites and what I looked past.

Difference of opinion is fine but when all your doing is bashing it then adding the rare "I did like the game" it gets annoying.

Well Osy hated the first 3, you gotta take that into account that it's the opinion of someone who doesn't like the core gameplay mechanics. Actually my first time through MGS2(the first one I played, I didn't have a PS1) I didn't like it enough to finish it. I didn't quite get it. Then like a year or two later I came back and suddenly it just clicked and I loved every second of it. I showed my friends me running around in a box and laughing at how hilarious I found every little thing. It's weird... it's not just the sneaking..

It's something about MGS that's indescribable... it's like a certain spark that pulls you into the game and makes you feel that this universe is whole and complete, and everything that happens really just might be, and then screws with you by reminding you that you're a player playing a game... it's just, hard to put my finger on it. You either get it or you don't. If you're just playing the game for instant gratification, you probably won't get much. MGS4 adds a lot into the gameplay department, while keeping that spark... so for those with it, this is the best game we ever played. For those without, still a great game.
