Everyone hates CNN, but here is an interview with Fox after the matter.

Limbaugh makes an ass out of himself. Everyone seems to realize that but him. Is there anyone left that can't see the benefits of Stem Cell research?

It's 100% pros. But it goes agenst "Gods Ways" supposably because that's not how God intended it.

Yeah, because god wouldn't want us to find new ways to cure disease and help each other out amirite? Fuck that.

It's actually because they consider it to be Murder in Gods eyes.

Because they know exactly how god thinks. They are up on that level where they could completely understand every divine decision he has ever and will ever make.

It also has to do with the propaganda and misinformation spread by the people who are against it. Like pharmaceutical companies for instance. There is no money in the cure, only in the treatment.

It sucks having a disease for which there is no cure. People unfortunate enough to go through that don't really care what invisible man you pray to, or what he has to say about it. We want a cure. Stem cell research isn't hurting anyone, and there is no reason for Rush Limbaugh to take pot shots at someone diagnosed with one of these diseases because Rush has decided to align his self with a party that has decided it's bad.

Lol Hippy...Why is it now that MJF starts airing those commercials? Why not say last year or 6 months ago? Research for it is coo, but right before an election? Hmmmm....think about that one.

Stem cell research = good
Killing inocent little babys = bad

As long as they aren't encouraging abortion, I don't see the problem with using stem cells.
The issue at hand is using embryos from fertilization clinics that are otherwise "discarded"

It's not a commercial that he just decided to air. It is a political add showing that he supports a candidate for the specific reason of stem cell research.

Comes right before the election because politics is baring the research the he believes gives him the best chance of survival. If it wasn't a political matter, he wouldn't do the commercials at all.

It comes right before the election so he can help his candidate get elected. What would be the point of showing it after his candidate won or lost?

My friend had a discussion with a girl in class one day about this. He said, " According to the christian belief, aborted babies go directly to heaven, now assuming this belief is true, and the ultimate goal is to help people go to heaven, where is this wrong?

Note: after he said that the girl just dropped her jaw and couldn't believe it, so he proceeded to explain more.

"Isn't this the purpose of christianity? To help people achieve a better afterlife?"

Then he realized she was wearing a t-shirt of the local missionary baptist student union and figured he better walk off.

Although these are extreme viewpoints, they are quite interesting.

On a side note, Russia last year had 100,000 more abortions than births. Russia should revive it's economy through selling the aborted fetuses. If you believe they are alive when they are embryos, or not, they are still going to be thrown away. Rush Limbaugh just says things that are controversial, not because he believes it, but because thats how he makes his money. Would we even know who Howard Stern is if he just didn't say and do outrageous shit on his show? He would have never made the airwaves.

As far as why he is doing these commercials now? Well now's his best shot to make a difference. You think people can do anything about it mid-term? No. Do you think people will remember by election time? No. He sees his opportunity to actually get the government to pass stem cell research, but it can't be the one's who are in charge now, there has to be a change and he's doing everything he can to make it happen.

Not going to diclose my views on abortion here but I think it was an insensitive comment and it's good that he was man enough to apologize for being wrong. Unfortunately, M. J. Fox who I'm sure is a perfectly decent guy has put himself into the position that he's going to get criticizism by deciding to be vocal and active in politics. Diseased or not, that means he's going to be insulted just like figures on both side of the issue get criticized. Rush made an incorrect statement, he apologized, as far as I'm concerned it's done with.

You missed the point.
I think you missed my point, is it wrong for med students to use cadavers? Is it wrong to harvest organs from dead organ donors?

Did he do a formal apology? I just saw him saying something like "if I'm wrong I'm sorry" which is about as much of an apology as saying "sucks to be you"

Being criticized for speaking on the issue in a political campaign is one thing, but for someone who doesn't have the disease and obviously knows nothing about to come out and say someone who does have it is faking was just ridiculous. He had no business making that statement.

As far as the research goes, of the they're going to discard them anyway, I see no problem with it. The good outweighs the bad in this situation by a lot.

After his apology, Limbaugh shifted his ground and renewed his attack on Fox.

"Now people are telling me they have seen Michael J. Fox in interviews and he does appear the same way in the interviews as he does in this commercial," Limbaugh said, according to a transcript on his Web site. "All right then, I stand corrected. . . . So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act."

Then Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: "Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician."

Excellent apology.

If they kill the child for that purpose I'm against it but if the child is already dead, I don't see anything wrong. It's like organ donation.

I really don't know how it works, but I would assume there's no way in hell they're killing live babies and/or embryo/fetuses.

Idk about other people, but I'd kind of like to one day be cured of my Diabetes. I can deal with it, but seriously, I take 4-6 shots a day and if its NOT in control I've got the energy of a 95 year old man. Going against this is just fucking insane. It blows my mind somthing with such potential to save lives is being pretty much ignored.

Well this topic isn't really about stem cell research or abortion, rather Rush's comment about Fox, which I think to be honest is being blown out of proportion simply because the subject matter is so sensitive - if he was being criticized as exaggerating on anything except Parkinson's disease it wouldn't be a very big deal, but this country is so politically correct the concept of treating a sick person the same way he would treat any other lobbyist for an opposing side is outrageous to most.

Not that he's right to say something that he was obviously ignorant of and probably wrong about, but Fox is a grown man, he knew what he was doing getting into politics and the outcry resulted is almost demeaning by assuming that by having Parkinson disease he's less able to take an insult than any other guy.
