Here's a quote from Foxsports. Gotta love it...

"He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits."

:shok:

Not from Fox News but here is an article about it.

It's not the worse thing that he could do although I could understand some parents being upset because he's supposed to be a role model. Just have to teach their kids that no one is perfect. I just hope that people aren't going to start allegations that could make him lose his medals.

Baaaw someone famous got caught getting high. I don't get why he apologized, and he shouldn't even need to. The only people who truly care are those with tight-knit "morals" and their spawn. All I saw was a human being human.

That'd be the shittiest thing in the world. Because doing pot clearly gives you an edge in sports.

Hell, if you go by the commercials,

If he was smoking pot, he should have been too lazy to compete!

If anything, he obviously would have died from lung cancer long before he even hit the water.

I think this is the pic that started it.

Pot is not a performance enhancing drug.

Unless there's a BIG hershey bar at the end... then... YOU WILL BE THERE!

Of course I'm serious. Cancer aside, he'll be lucky not to have emphysema by next week let alone remember his name or the fact that he won any gold medals. Shit he'll be lucky not to cause several accidents and kill 100s of people by next year just from the after effects of that one bong hit alone...

LMAO! Okay gotcha

This has been the problem with the term "role model" for a very long time now. NO ONE is perfect. What I do with my daughter, and what I think most parents should do with their kids, is point out specific qualities about a person.

In Phelps case, I would point out his extreme hard work and dedication. This can be used in all fields, not just swimming. Want to be a doctor? Be dedicated, study and work hard like Phelps did when he was training! Trying to idolize and emulate the entire makeup of a singular person is futile and (in this society where we like to tear down people) counter productive.

If parents have to rely on other adults as role models for their children, then they have already failed as parents.
