Microphone Question

I bought a microphone from best buy to use for my movie. But I plugged it into the red hole with a little microphone next to it. It does not work. I tried using it in Windows Media player but nothiing. I recorded some stuff but I cant hear my voice. I was wondering if anyone knew of a program or something to make it work.

First Open up the Windows Mixer (Speaker in the Task Bar)
Select Options from the pull down menu
Select Properties
Select Recording
Make sure everything in the list below has a check
Press OK
(You will notice the screen changed)
On the new volume Controls find Microphone
Make sure at the bottom of it, on select that it has a Check

oki, did all that and I opened up movie maker. I tried the Narratiaon thing and it works!

This should already be set, but just in case, Open up the Mixer and make sure Microphone is Muted.

This will prevent your Speakers from playing what your recording, which causing an echo. It will still record, you just want hear it while you are recording it, only during playback.

Sounds like you are in Computer Application II or III.
