Mining: These harvesters of nature's bounty utilize an array of tools in their work with all forms of plants and minerals. Their trade encompasses knowledge of all of Hydaelyn's natural resources, be it in a cultivated garden or the great outdoors. As a cornerstone of Eorzea's economy, their impact on her inhabitants can hardly be overstated.

The Miner best suits Blacksmiths, Armorers, and Goldsmiths.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are some observations about the miner class that I have made while playing it. I hope that it will serve everyone well, and I will continue to update it it as I have time. Everytime I receive a material from mining, I note which type of grade it is, and how rare the item seems to be.

Mining types: Excavation (main hand) and Quarrying (off hand)

**Main-hand tool Mining**
Areas Mined (for accuracy): Lo Noscea and Thanalan
Spoiler:

Grade 1: Around Bentbranch, Bearded Rock, and Blackbrush Camps
Common: Limonite, Pyrite, Yellow Copper Ore, Sea Sand, Lugworm, Alumen, Scallops Shell, River Sand
Not as Common: Copper Ore, Iron Ore, Salt Peter, Scallop Shell, Bone Chip
Rare: Soiled Femur, Wind Rock, Earth Rock, Fire Rock, Lightning Rock, Tin Ore, Earth Rock (Gridania)

Grade 2: Around Emerald Moss, Skull Valley, and Drybone Camps
Common: Iron Sand, Limonite, Copper Ore, Silex, Scallop Shells
Not as Common: Iron Ore, Potter's Clay, Silver Ore, Saltpeter, Silver Sand, Tin Ore
Rare: Raw Lapis Lazuli, Raw Sphene, Zinc Ore (Ul'Dah areas - confirmed)

Grade 3: Around Tranquil, Bloodshore, and Horizon Camps
Common: Limonite, Iron ore (Limsa), Iron Sand (Limsa)
Not as Common: Obsidian (Limsa), Blacklip Oyster (Limsa)
Rare: Wyvern Obsidian (Limsa),

**Quarrying Findings**
Quarrying areas are a lot more difficult to find. The only good spot I've found is just due east of Camp Bearded Rock. In the cave there, where you can fight fireflies. Quarrying seems to only be in small caves.

Spoiler:

Grade 1 (Limsa Lominsa Areas. Known Locations: East of Camp Bearded Rock, in cave.):
Common: Flintstone, Yellow O'Ghomoro Slag, Red O'Ghomoro Slag
Not as Common: Blue Quartz, Scale Grey Bugs

Grade 1 (Ul'Dah Areas. Known Locations: Postions (25-29), (22/23-29), (22-30)):
Common: Yellow Quartz, Yellow O'Ghomoro Slag, Red O'Ghomoro Slag
Not as Common: Slate Grey Scale Bugs, Taupe Scale Bugs

Grade 2 (Ul'Dah Areas. Known Locations: Positions: (22-41 -> Access from cave of lower 20-41)):
Common: Yellow Slagolii Slag, Midnight Black-Scale Bugs
Not as Common:

Feedback/other findings appreciated! Will update whenever I can.

I just started mining grade 2, but I got one or two silver ore tonight, so add that to Thanalan G2 spots.

Good finds so far Oran. I'll add mine. I think I'm addicted to mining. :(

Limsa Lominsa

Quarry Grade 1
-Blue Quartz
-Blue Quartz +1
-Slag-Grey Scale Bug

Excavation Grade 1
-Pyriate
-Pinches of Alumen
-Scallops shell (Alchemy and Culinarian related)
-Sea Sand
-River Sand
-Bone Chip
-Limonite
-Wind rock
-Yellow Copper Ore
-Copper ore

Excavation Grade 2
Same as above except:
-Potter's Clay
-Saltpeter
-Iron Sand
-Silver Sand

I'll add Ul'dah and Gridania tomorrow, but I prefer Limsa Lominsa to mine for some reason.

Note: Anything I can't use for Armorer, Blacksmith or Goldsmith I just NPC.

Thanks for the additional info! Added to my list Cua :)

interesting to point out about quarry spots... the monsters inside respawn immediately when all of them are killed, so aside from mining its a decent place to grind.

Quarry for Uldah
- yellow quartz
- slag of many colours
- taupe scale bugs
- slate gray scale bugs

there are generally 3 quarry areas close to each other that you can keep going to in a circle. these cave entrances are located:
(25-29)
(22/23-29)
(22-30)
