It was in May 2004 that I loaned Mithy 75k.

But for the time being.... Can i get a loan about 200k-ish for phalanx?

As seen in Cursed Mask >^^<

It was not much after that Mithy/java "discovered" my little gil making "secret" (crafting at L65), and from there on he seemingly decided that if I am making all that gil through crafting there is no need for him to pay me back.

Those who have been with QCDN long enough will remember the occasional friendly reminders in threads java posted to.

I have since quit the game, and that was yet more reason for Mithy to break his word and not pay his debt, even though the provision was that he still owed the gil and ought to contribute it to the Lottery fund so that all QCDN users may have a fair shot to benefit from this gil.

Sure, 75k is no big deal, but this post is not about 75k, it's about illustrating Mithy's character, or at least one side of it. There was an agreement made, and a word given. If one can't trust someone's word, then one has nothing in an MMO.

Over the past months I had send constant friendly reminders that payment is still due, and obviously no payment has ever been made.

Why not make it a sticky until something gets done? Unless this is another one of those sarcastic flames.

If I start to sticky one thread, I would ultimately have to sticky a whole lot of them for similar reasons, and I would rather not get into that. It's really more about showing that QCDN missed out on a nice lottery jackpot.

um, no need to flame on my character sculli, i know full well i still owe you, but how do i pay you, ive got nothing, if i sold all my equipment right now, i might be lucky to come out with 50k.... i am hunting NM's right now and i fully intended to pay off all my loans and some (depending on the size, and 75k is the biggest) i don't see the need about attacking me when i had full intentions of returning the money. Thank you for that unecessary piece of insult to my character.

That is why you simply never give out loans unless you really know the person. I think I have only been loaned one thing and that was when I pted with Runekane and they really wanted me to be Rng so I borrowed him Emperor's hairpin and his +1 bow. Then after we were done I sold them and kept all the money mwhahahahah! No joke, Runekane is one of the few people I would trust, but less asked, less given.

Honestly 75k could be gotten in 4 hours of farming. Less if you got lucky. If I had an outstanding debt (never would cause i hate having debts) I would place all leveling, questing, purchasing of gear, until said debt was paid off. Guess that is just me though!

Well, if we're gonna nit-pick about this.

I know I have a few debts here and there that I need to pay back, but that's beside the point...

Mithy, you still owe me 1,000 Gil.

I know it's only 1k, but it's the principle of the matter.

It was when we were doing Genkai 2... And I was at the Lower Jeuno AH, and you said could you "borrow 1k real fast"... Remember?

I remember another player like this, who used to be the LS leader of the precursor to ShadesOfTheLost. He constantly "borrowed" gil, was always talking of his great plans to make a bunch of gil and pay everyone back, and then when he got his hands on some gil would think of something else that he "desperately" needed to spend it on.

Take care of your debts before you go making more debts. Otherwise you're just a scam artist, and can count yourself among the likes of Batcheporu and Ethar.

true, but with my new schedule post-hurricanes i get maybe.. 2 hours a day on FFXI.. (and most days none at all)and ive never really been good at farming...

and while on the subject of post-hurricane, i'm sorry devi i was gone for 2 1/2 months and forgot the 1k, will send as soon as i get to another city.

Like what was written above, NEVER give/loan gil unless you absolutely sure of the person, hell someone i know as me to loan him 200k to get a monk equip, yes i have the gil, i farmed my butt off it as well but why should i? Unless you're married to another character then you may share your gil evenly, if not please go farm. If you can't get that nice shiny piece of equip, DON'T, if you see a scroll you want and cannot buy DON'T. It's that simple, now am i right on this. Alot of ppl want to loan gil to get something them level up their character. Like someone said in some thread in Flameboard, logon farm for 2hrs then logout, then have time logon in and farm again then logout. Don't even think of xp party till you get what you want.

On the subject of loaning money...it's never a good idea, unless you really know the person. I don't think I'd ever be in the position to feel justified in asking "Hey, could you lend me 75k?" Morari borrowed 19k from me for Stona, and I hounded him until I got it back >_>

Anesly lent me some gil way back when, which I promptly paid back in moat carp ><> <-- FISH X3
