Besides Sole, what else can be used in place of it. Just curious of my other (Hopfully) Less expensive options

sis kabobis, sex on a stick

Sure, if you don't care about the -2 VIT affecting your weaponskills and Chakras.

Coeurl Subs are staple Attack Food imo. Yellow Curry is equally as good. 1 less STR, but you don't lose that 2 VIT. The attack cap is also higher, 75@375 compared to 70@350, and you get Resist Stun and Resist Sleep. They're also cheaper. 15-17k/stack compared to the static 24k for Sis. Bison/Marbled Steaks, Hedgehog/Porcupine Pie, Dragon Steak/Red Curry are still better if you want to kick out the extra gil. Not sure about Hellsteak, but Hydra Kofte is kinda nice. Attack+21%(90@425) and Defense+21%(70@280,) but not much in the way of other bonuses, just STR+7 and INT-3.

Sis was only good when the economy was awful, because it's a static price. If anyone uses it now though, they're kinda retarded. It costs more for less effect.

I'm going out on a limb and saying you want something with the same function and less price? the meat foods actually will likely parse out in a similar range with sushi but you will see a great loss in accuracy. to augment this acc loss you will need more acc gear, to get this acc gear you're gonna lose something else(preferably str and att, both of which the meat provides)

oldschool was stack acc and eat meat, now it's stack haste > Att/Str and eat sushi to compensate. It's all dependant on your gear... you could always try the less expensive sushi.

If you're not eating sole, you shouldn't be eating sushi as a monk.

yup, i picked them up the day the expansion dropped and never looked back.

i'll throw some pasta into your mix too. Arrabbiato

aaaaaand bream sushi was always the cheapest uncooked fish if i recall.

lolrepzup for you Skaw, but boooo for bringing into play that +6hp chakra :nono:

Hedgehog Pie. That was my personal favorite back in the day. Not very practical, in that it doesn't stack, is expensive, and if you use it your committed to it for several hours, so if your party craps out before then you've just wasted all that money, but the stats it gives are amazing, especially for monk.
When I used it I had a friend cook it up for me for two reasons, wasn't as expensive and it wasn't on the AH. I don't know if anyone sells it today but if they don't I hope you know a high level cook.
Oh I should mention though that this is str food, Sole is acc, so if you need alot of acc then don't use H.pie, it does give 4 or 5 though. Sole is the best accuracy food out there, that I know of, there's really nothing you can replace it with if your a mnk.

Hedgehog Pie, Red Curry, Sis Kebabi, really any meat that your basic attack won't cap out.

Probably going to cause a derail, but 100% wrong. Meat (Hedgehog / Red Curry / similar strength) is still the king of damage. Haste and such is added on to make the damage output even better, not to be the source of damage. For the most part, haste gear is a bonus on an already good piece, or a bad slot. Haste / sushi is a case of taking what works for three jobs (WAR NIN and THF) and applying it to all. WAR can compensate with bergressor. NIN and THF have a low-damage weapon which is really easy to cap attack for. They're the only two jobs it applies to. MNK doesn't have bergressor, and 2-hands have even higher need for attack than duals.

And for god's sake, you're a monk. You have all the haste you need in 3 peices, what are you putting in the other slots, defense? Chances are you're putting att/acc there, which kinda disproves your own point.

Probably going to jinx it's price but as it stands now, Hedgehog Pie is the best deal money can buy in terms of attack food (especially with it's nice 5acc bonus on the side), standing at only 10-12k.

One big factor though is what you're fighting - with MNK's A+ hand-to-hand skill I'd not be surprised if some things con low evasion WITHOUT acc food, unless you're fighting Mamool Ja or something well above your level (though this is also provided you have some decent acc gear too, i.e. SH, acc necklace and an acc ring or two.) - on my WAR I have 46acc and am able to safely use attack food, so I'd say with your naturally higher H2H skill you should be able to do thesame with about +40acc...though I'm no Monk, so I could be wrong on this. And again, it's relatively dependant on what you're fighting as well.

If the mob's conning low eva before food I'd highly suggest popping att food instead, it'll go much further. If it's neither high nor low eva, I'd leave that up to your own judgment since that tends to hover around 75% acc, which some people may or may not be happy with.

Are you being sarcastic? >_>

With my normal non-mamoolTHF/mamoolNIN haste/acc meatset, I have around 55~60acc. This usually leaves NINs conning neither high nor low eva without madrigal. I know my acc isn't 75% on NINs without madrigal or putting on a life belt over swift / opti hat over turban; it feels a good deal lower than 3/4 hits.

That's for more of the perfectionist. It's only 6 hp and would barely effect a weapon skill, but it's not hard to get. It won't make or break you, but it's still nice to have.

It's Skaw, I'm pretty sure he's serious. ._.;

And from what I've seen on parsers, normal evasion means 65%, significantly less if they have evasion boost moves like Mamools. But also from what I've seen on parsers, my piddly 75% accuracy (though that's thrownaskew from Flashga and whatnot, I'd assume the real number is somewhat higher) with sis kebabi will do just as much damage as somebody else's 95% with sole. Doesn't really change when I eat sole myself.

1 STR isn't going to be more useful than 5 Attack and 2 VIT. Sis is garbage, only good for when prices are completely fucked up.

Who parses 95% with obsfucate? >_>

5 attack isn't going to parse much better, especially when you should be getting around 500 with either food. I've been using Sis kebabi lately only because I wasn't aware the price on subs had gone down as much as it has; I hadn't noticed any difference when I went from subs to sis though.
