After three months of playing FFXI, I finally got to level 30 and unlocked Summoner (I tend to solo because most of the groups I've been in have been worthless.). I was up on Vomp Hill, working on reaching my goal of hitting level 10 (Currently at level 8). When I saw someone pulling a long train of Ornary Sheep. My brain goes "Great, a AoE Farmer." I continue on, and eventually, the person pulls the mob train of 10 mobs to where I'm hunting.

I looked at each mob and saw that all but two of them were at full health, and YELLOW (Unclaimed mobs). So, I sent my Carby to grab one of them and take it out. The two people then decided to complain to me because I was stealing their mobs. The first one, whose name was Ellessandra, had to be at least level 40 (She was anon with level 40+ equipment), she was telling me that she was trying to train.

I pretty much told her that the mobs I fought were unclaimed, and therefore open prey to anyone. The comment was "So it gives you the right to steal mobs?" ..... Hello? How can you steal an UNCLAIMED mob? (And I know there will probably be some people who will defend the people I'm talking about, but this is my rant.)

Later on, I came across the OTHER of the two people level 5 person(don't remember the job), whose name was Kougaijia. This gave me the distinct impression that the other person was POWER LEVELING the level 5 person. At this point, I really get annoyed. Just like his friend, he asked me to not attack their train. I was polite, explaining to him that if a mob is yellow, which means unclaimed, and open prey to anyone. The conversation didn't really get anywhere, because these people were under the impression that if you have 5-10 mobs following you, trying to hit you, that they're claimed by you.

Now, at this point, I must mention my opinion about Power Leveling. I think that Power Leveling is a chicken way to play a game. If someone asked me to power level them, I'd give them a nice, and polite, lecture about why power leveling is wrong. I would never power level anyone, nor would I help anyone to power level someone.

Since it looked like the level 40+ person was helping the level 5 person power level, I made a decision and told them that if I saw them training mobs, and any one of those mobs were yellow, I would (without a doubt) attack one of the unclaimed mobs.

Well, I've gotten that rant off my chest. I'm ending this post now.

When you make a train by linking mobs it doesn't claim it for you. People do this to me sometimes in Palborough Mines when I'm farming Quadav and it is an extremely rude thing to do.

I agree if you train around me i will kill as many of the mobs as possible. On the Pl thing i think its ok when you need a sub lvled real fast. :D

lets look at this from another angle.

i often times will be doing something in wich i have made a creature attack me and i focus on a different creature so the first on turns yellow. i will admit that this creature is "technically" fare game. but i think it is in very poor taste to grab a creature that someone else has put effort into getting the attention of. i dont aply this towards pulling for a party. if you and i are both going for the same mob then its a race to see who gets it. but if you have a creature beating on your back while you fight something else, i'm going to leave it there unless a: it looks like you'll die or b: you ask for help.

think about it this way. lest say you are the person with the train(not neccesarily for a PL). how would you like it if someone came and kept stealing the creatures you had been gathering. you'd be right back here in the flame thread yelling that he was impolite by stealing mobs. the only time i've taken mobs from a train was when the person was bringing them to an area that made it very unsafe for lower level chars and he was getting other people killed.

your stance on power leveling is yours to take and i'm not going to try and change your mind. but i want to make a statement for anyone else that isn't quite decided yet. they have made it very hard in this game for higher lvl players to powerlevel in this game. the only real way to do anything of the sort is to stand by and watch as the lower level char does ALL the work and then when he needs a heal you send him a Cure. granted it does make things go a lot faster with the help of a high lvl healer at your side. but i do not think that it detracts from the game or hurts another persons experience in any way. in fact i think it helps. the fastest way to level is still in a party. so if a certain person is getting a power level it will also help the other 5 people in that party.

i dont mean to start anything with you personally. these are just my opinions on the topics you wanted to share with us. and we all know the phrase about opinions...

sorry if my post was long
