What is Moblin Maze Mongers?Moblin Maze Mongers (hereafter "MMM") is a new system that allows players to create built-to-order dungeons ("mazes") with custom settings and rules, that can be enjoyed alone or together with friends.

* Users must have installed and completed registration for the Wings of the Goddess expansion in order to access the Moblin Maze Mongers system.

Overview of MMMTo enjoy MMM, please follow the steps below.

[1] First, talk to the NPC Goldagrik located in Muckvix's Junkshop in Lower Jeuno (H-9). After doing so, you will receive the three items (Maze Tabula, Maze Voucher, and Maze Rune) necessary to order a maze, as well as the "tattered Maze Monger pouch" key item.

Maze Tabula
Maze Tabulae are used to record the fundamental data for your maze.
By using Maze Vouchers and Maze Runes in conjunction with a Maze Tabula, various settings of the maze may be configured.

Maze Voucher
The Maze Voucher dictates the objective for completing a given maze.
In a process similar to learning new magic from a scroll, Maze Vouchers must be selected and used from the item list. This will store the vouchers in your MMM pouch, allowing them to be used in maze creation.

Maze Vouchers that have been stored in your MMM pouch can then be accessed from your Maze Tabula interface.
Selecting a Maze Voucher to use with your tabula is the bare minimum requirement for ordering a maze.

Maze Rune
Maze Runes are optional components that allow for control over more detailed settings. They also come in various shapes and elements, and can have a wide range of effects on the content of your maze.
Like Maze Vouchers, Maze Runes must be used and stored in your pouch before they can be accessed.

* The specific effects of a particular Maze Rune may change, or the rune may become unusable, depending on the type of Maze Voucher with which it is used.

[2] Use the Maze Vouchers and Maze Runes you have obtained.
Using these items will cause them to disappear from your item list, but they can be accessed at any point thereafter through your Maze Tabula.

[3] Use your Maze Tabula to create an order form for your maze. (For further details, refer to "Ordering a Maze" below.)

[4] Take your completed Maze Tabula to the Chocobo Stables in Lower Jeuno (G-11) and trade it to the "Maze Mongers Shopfront" located there. After confirming the maze settings and paying the construction fee, you and any party members with you will be transported to the maze entrance lobby.

[5] Conduct any pre-entry preparations you see fit before entering your maze. Talking to the NPC Packapic will allow you to confirm your maze settings and even customize the music. When you are ready to enter the maze, you may do so by speaking to the NPC Rediroq.

Ordering a Maze[1] Select and use the Maze Vouchers and Maze Runes in your inventory to place them in your MMM pouch.
[2] Use your Maze Tabula.
[3] Choose your desired maze completion objective by selecting the corresponding Maze Voucher.

Some examples of the available objectives are as follows:

Maze Voucher 01: Clear the maze of all monsters.
Maze Voucher 04: Synthesize the assigned items.
Maze Voucher 07: Slay a single formidable foe.

[4] Use Maze Runes to configure more detailed settings, if you so desire.

Maze Tabulae may contain black squares and/or elemental squares.

Black squares cannot hold Maze Runes. Please rotate your desired Maze Runes as necessary so that they do not overlap with these squares.
If you place a Maze Rune in an elemental square of the same element, the effect of that Maze Rune will be enhanced. Please note that the concepts of elemental ascendancy and opposition do not apply in maze construction.

* There are also neutral Maze Runes that are not aligned with any particular element. Such runes will never have their effects enhanced, regardless of the squares on which they are placed.

The following are some examples of the special conditions that can be enacted through the use of Maze Runes:

Maze Rune 100: The quicker you complete the maze, the more Moblin Marbles you will receive.
Maze Rune 101: Your time limit is shortened, but you will receive a greater quantity of Moblin Marbles (see "Rewards" below) upon successful completion of the maze.
Maze Rune 106: You will be outfitted with a "Maze Pearl" that can be used to obtain various helpful hints.
Maze Rune 109: The NPC "Packapic" in the entrance lobby will sell you temporary items.

RewardsAfter successfully completing the objectives for a given maze, you will be rewarded with the appearance of a treasure chest. Opening the chest will grant you items, experience points, and "Moblin Marbles." Moblin Marbles are points obtained exclusively through MMM that can be exchanged for equipment, new Maze Runes and so forth. For details, speak with the NPC Chatnachoq in Muckvix's Junkshop in Lower Jeuno (H-9).

Miscellaneous NotesThere are no level restrictions placed upon the act of ordering a maze or adventuring in a completed maze.
You may enter mazes alone, or in parties of up to six characters.
A player may only order one maze per day (Earth time). There are, however, no such restrictions placed on the number of times a player may enter mazes as a member of a party whose leader has made the order.
If you wish to leave a maze before completing its objectives, you may do so by using the "Maze Compass," an item that is automatically placed in your inventory upon entering a maze.

So it looks similiar to gearing an automaton, cept instead of trading piece of gear to NPC to add it to the automatons equip, you just use the rune as item to add it to the bag...

Then use bag somehow to access menu same way you access automaton's equipment and gear it to your level?

Do you lose a rune when you put it in a level the do the level? Or do you get your rune back?

SE just removed the event 10 minutes ago, guess they didn't think it'd be spammed to hell and back on it's first day.

Don't think so. From the looks of it, and the 2 tries I got to do before they removed the npc, once you use a rune, it goes into your key items. (Think using an automaton attachment)

I did't even get to try D:

Looks like their was a game breaking glitch for it to be such a sudden suspension

Or you know, most people just couldn't get into it cuz of congestion so they need to improve their damn servers (or just use instances)

Just a little tip for people. I don't know if it was glitched at the time and they'll fix it but if you're not looking for exp have someone of lower lvl join you.

My group had a 56 Pld(or something) and all the mobs got gimped to his lvl so we were able to clear it in no time. Marble rewards were still the same but we didn't get exp at end.

Woot did 3 runs and then we broke the new toy! now its back to the same old stuff ^^

I was drooling all day at work to try this since I am a heavy user of FFXI's uniquenesses (Such as puppet master and panketrion or however it's spelled) so I was looking forward to losing myself in this over the next few weeks and becoming a maze master.

And now I can't.../sigh

Well, at the very least how is the xp when done with an equal level party? Viable for a slower xp alternative? And on the xp note, the party part was a bit unclear. If a party leader creates it you can enter that same maze as many times as you want (and continue to reap at least xp) but you simply can't order a new maze until a new day?

I wonder if this will start MMM statics? 6 man static that runs 1, 2, or 3 times a week. (or more) with 6 runs a day for runes and marbles.

The reason they brought it down was because of Money Gobbling Moblins (As states on BG). Apparently there was a glitch where the Moblins stole your gil. One guy lost 600k when he entered.

There were many other glitches, Uzor. No /tells or /ls chat got out when inside.

I was talking to someone inside >.> mustve not happened to everyone

Ouch, thats why all my gil is on a crafting mule.

did SE even fix the problem they statement on last update? i think they didnt fix yet, but just put it on anyway, and then took away just to make players ride on roller coaster, happy, then pissed

Just to back up what Myrrh originally posted (I was in his group);

With the 56 pld making the maze (before the suspension) all the mobs were around his level. Next, someone else entered their maze, and again, the mobs were incredibly weak, but that may have been because he earned a rune from our first attempt that said weaker mobs would show up than normal;

After this, we did one more run w/ all 75s where the mobs seemed normal, then SE turned off MMM.

Just went back to do some more tests, it seems that mob levels are normal; as a group of 3 75s, everything was ep-dc; Then I switched to 64 and the mobs stayed the same, both when someone else made a maze and when I entered my own. 15 Marbles were the reward each time, and new runes appeared twice out of 5 runs (one run we ran out of time because it's hard for 3 melee to take down a room full of elementals quickly).

From what it looks like, to get more marbles/better items you need to spam the initial Tabula/Voucher until you get your first 100 marbles. When you get there I'm not sure whether to go with a different tabula or a different voucher; But I'd imagine some combination of new tabula/voucher/runes bought with marbles will lead to increased marble and item drop, as well as an increased challenge in the maze itself.

All that is speculation of course, but having to prospectively run the same dungeon 20 times to test that theory is something I'll leave to the people who are really enjoying this.

It wasn't just him, same thing happened to me. Had 150k this morning, got 350k out of DB when i logged on, did MMM, some nyzul, and sea, did NOT buy anything from AH or NPC and logged off right after sea. Log back on a few hours later and check my gil, down to 350k... Currently calling a GM, 27 calls ahead of me >.<
