I recently came across a program that allows you to view all the character models from FFXI. You can change the equipment and make them go through pretty much any motion. It's very fun. ^^ Anyway, I thought I'd share this program with everyone. It's a major PITA to get working if you don't know exactly what to do, so I made some instructions on how to do it.
Here's what I did to get it working. (Note: I'm not sure if this program even works on anything but Windows XP).
First, before you even download the program, go to Control Panel->Regional and Language Options. Once that's open, click on the the Languages tab. Check off 'Install Files for East Asian languages as shown below.
Click OK at the bottom, and let the computer install the files needed. If you installed Windows XP on your computer (i.e. it didn't come pre-loaded with the computer), you'll need the Windows XP disc for this, so hopefully you haven't lost it.
Anyway, after that's done installing, go back into Regional and Language Options, and click on the Advanced tab. In the drop down box at the top, select Japanese, as shown in the picture below.
Click Yes on the window that pops up, then yes again when it asks if you want to restart your computer.
After your computer restarts, you can go download the program
here. Once you unzip the files someplace, go find the folder it's in called "FFXImodelviewer" or something close to that. In that folder, select everything and cut (ctrl+x), then go to C:\Program Files\Playonline\Final Fantasy XI and paste them there. With that done, click on FFXImodelviewer.exe and voila! Everything should work. Hopefully this helps some. The program is completely in Japanese, so have fun messing with it.
