anyone encountered a monitor thats in the process of going bad?
im pretty sure mine is. at least i hope its the monitor. ill be sitting here doing whatever, next thing you know the screen goes black. i have to shut the monitor off then turn it back on for it to come back on. it does this every so often. started last night and has been more frequent lately. vid card is only a month or so old, so i dont think its that. plus turning the monitor on and off shouldnt be a fix for a card thats overheating

if it just goes into standby it could be the connection to the video card, if the light is still green your monitor may infact be buggered . . . test your PC on a known good monitor.

it's the only way to be sure.

Make sure moniter is firmly pluged into video card.

Then goto Start > Settings > Control panel > power options . Under power schemes check and see that moniter is set to "Never" turn off under plugged in side.

If those are ok check for latest video card driver, possable you have a currupt driver or even a bad video card itself. wouldn't hurt to email there tech support for help.

Check it with a known working moniter.

From my experance with CRTs signs of it crapping out on you are Discoloration, distortion, shrinking / changing screen size, extreamly loud humming noise comming from it. (although some minor humming is normal on TV sets as they require large amounts of current which cause the capasiters to viberate)
