Alright you three, put the controller down and mouth up.

That face-palming moment when someone says, "Diablos is a dick" (sic: because they think it's a character name) and you realize you need to break out the Sonic and Flash bombs to show them how to utilize hunting tools they've been ignoring all this time.

Good stuff.

So, anything cool going on with you guys in the game? I rushed to HR2 and the end of 5 Star Village but I've gotten into a farming mood so I've stopped "progressing" (in that sense) and started making every weapon down every path of things I use. Managed to also get myself into charm table 10 on the first go (I was sure a sneeze had be missing the clock by a second). That said, it's not doing me any good thus far as the best charm I've gotten has been +1 something useless. Spider webs being rare now sucks, and how about those Majestic Horns... you'd think by now Capcom would even be tired of making us farm these ridiculously rare horns, but nooooo.

One more thing, for those of you with no MHp3rd experience, how about that HP pool on your first Duramboros? Eh? Eh? I about busted out laughing the first time I fought that thing, it reminded me so much of the fails of a beginner hammer user (I'm sure we can all relate to that in some manner).

If I had a Wii U I'd have picked this game up :O I never did get Tri for the Wii yet either.

That's OK, there is no reason to even consider Tri to have ever existed. It was terrible (on a real MH scale) then (though still the best game on the Wii) and now it's irrelevant. It's also on the 3DS and if you have that you can get a good jump on the curve and, say, if you ever get a Wii U, you can transfer your save over.

This is definitely, definitely a good one to begin with if you've never played before or if you just have neglected the series for a very long time. They've made what I thought to at first be questionable decisions to go soft in the early game (it's still not retard level easy, but even a casual MH fan should find it fairly easy) but more than make up for it later on. Playing online is a bit frustrating right now, since so many people try to simply brute force things instead of using tools and other hunting resources, but eh, all in good time; it has been fun helping people learn tricks.

The only one I ever played fully was the one on the PSP which I have :P I enjoyed it even without the second analog stick. But I imagine even better controls make it way better.

I've already put in about 45 hours. My friend and I have been working on progressing to HR3, but also farming up as we went. I'm having a blast though, I finally got some fire dual blades last night, so I'm going to spend more time farming up monsters that are weak to fire. I've put off farming up a bunch of stuff because I didn't have a decent weapon to speed up the killing process, but now I can go back for my ludroth, Barioth, Urcusis, Giginox and Great Baggi Pieces. I have no idea what charm table I'm in, since the fishing applet was down every time I tried to use it. I downloaded the charm app, and at least I'm not in one of the cursed tables, which was all that I cared about. I'll have to check the fishing applet again later to see if it's working so I can check which one I'm in.

You're right about the HP, I haven't fought a Duramboros yet, but when I fought the Barroth for the first time and killed the thing within 8 minutes, I was shocked. Apparently they lowered the HP for normal rank monsters to make room for the new G rank that they never had before.

I'm actually really looking forward to the patch that will enable off-screen play, so I can play without having to turn my TV on. I'll be able to get in a quick kill or a few farming sessions before work then, without having to turn on my whole setup.

Fuck Carpenter bugs with a gunlance, that's all I'm going to say.

Strid, what's your hunter's name? I'm playing Bajaratt, as I always do.

I'm really looking forward to off-screen play too, if only to stop this urge I have to buy the 3DS version as well. Gathering and farming things like Pale and Dash Extract put me to sleep, so having the ability to watch T.V. will be amazing. As for the fishing app on that one page, don't worry about it anymore, check this out instead: http://forums.minegarde.com/topic/6821-athenas-fish-finder/. Using a Fish Finder, as suggested has been problematic for some people, so you're better off just not doing it and hope you get a chart exclusive haul sooner rather than later.

What a coincidence on the fire weapon, I finally got off my tail and farmed Agnaktors last night for my first fire weapon (wasn't digging the Rathalos DB near as much as Ags). I haven't progressed one bit though since my last post (rank wise). I still lack Rathalos, Uragaan, and whatever the Ugrent will be finishing HR2. I've been busy farming resources for the farm and building weapons (not so much armor as I don't care to have all of the sets, but I do care about the weapons). I've also spent a grip of time gathering Spider Webs, Screamers, and Dash Extract. Basically, right now I'm focused more on stocking up than moving up because when I run out of traps, juices, and all of that, I just don't feel right going on hunts with people.

A beginner's guide :O

And the next step after getting your feet wet, how to use those stats and items you're seeing against which monsters: Monster Cheat Sheet

If that's not sharing right let me know. I've had some trouble with my Google Docs/Drive lately.

Yeah, I've been doing the same thing all along. I always come prepped into hunts with some traps and whatever bombs will work on the monster. My friend's and I have the agnaktor fight available in HR2, but we haven't moved to it yet,

Apparently the same person made that fish finder as the charm app that I found, I'll check to see what table I'm just to find out, but I'm not in a cursed table so I'm not going to bother restarting at this point when I'm already 50 hours in.

Nice, I have the "official" strategy guide, which I'm supplementing from the wiki, since the strategy guide is useless as far as organization for weapon trees; but it gives all of the carves.

Yeah, that guide... is pretty awful past that so be careful with it.

On the charm table thing, yeah, I can dig that. I was able to confirm T10 on the website before it tanked, but after it came to light that maybe using Fish Finders corrupted the results, I was thinking to myself, "meh, at this point, there is no going back, ever." Anyway, it appears that playing with people on your friends list isn't as intuitive as it should be at this point in time, but if we can figure something out and you ever need a spare, let me know (I'll add you after I eat in a bit).

Made my way to HR4 a few days ago, and have pretty much spent all my time since then mining in the Volcano or farming up materials so I can push forward to higher ranks.

Slime weapons are OP, plain and simple. Especially when you're using something fast like the dual blades or the sword and board and can stack it up quickly.

I'm about half way through HR3 when I started playing more offline than online to the point of wanting to just get it out of the way, so I haven't been online in a while. It's hard to motivate myself since the only friends I have playing haven't played past the beginning. It's time to make new ones, for sure, and I will, but right now I figure since the village gives so many options I'll grind it out and then just get online and blow through the ranks; maybe then people will have figured out how to play a little better and I can stop eating super pound and focus combos. Decided last week to farm up a Bura set so getting that gem has set me back as well. While I'll agree that Slime is OP, that's only at first because the weapons are far more powerful than the next closest alternative when they pop up, and they are easy to upgrade. In the end though, the other elements edge Slime out. That said, it's still nice to have a DS or SnS person with Slime and Partbreaker and 4x Kelbi Bow users is /afk mode.

Just hit HR5, Ivory Lagiacrus hits like a freaking truck when you're rocking negative thunder resistance.

I'm starting to farm up the HR monsters I need, and I'm starting to go for armor sets, as my Plesioth set is great for farming with, but it's not the best for when I'm trying to advance.

I just saw that yesterday, I would absolutely get that MMO, even if it was pay to play.

Just hit HR 6, so I'm officially G rank. Managed to get 2 dark dragon gems and a deep dragon gem off the gold beard caedeus.

Fuck all Lagiacrus, for all time. That is all.

I'm trying to get Horn+ to make the Ivory Lagiacrus set for destroyer, and the regular HR lagiacrus will not give up his damn horn+'s. I've seriously killed 5 in a row(that's tonight, I'm 3/13 so far total) and only gotten 1 horn+, the last one just gave me a regular horn as a big "screw you." I'm just glad my Entomotheos frickin' shred through him with, but I am seriously sick of fighting this guy. I've gotten 2 Lagia Sapphires, which are only a 4% drop rate in the time it's taken me to get 3 Horn+, which is a 42% when you break the horns. I hate this game, but I'm so addicted to it.

Meh, I'm lagging and have been for quite some time. Haven't even finished off HR yet and won't even be able to play for a week at this point. On a more positive note, I'm in the same pickle for other items so hopefully the break will clear my "desire sensor" and I'll have a run of luck when I get back to it. If I had to find one upside to Ilagi though, it's that at least you don't have to fight them underwater. I'd rather fight the things in a one bedroom apartment than in the largest body of water in the world.

I know, although being underwater helps a ton with my dual blades going for the head. I finally got that damn last horn. I had 2 more kills after that post last night, and 3 more when I got home from work before I got it. Got another Sapphire too.
