Wii Monster Hunter Tri

i just beat the offline game, now looking for buddy's for fun >:D

So can anyone give me pointers on capturing monsters? It seems like no matter how well I try to do roughly the same process every time, successfully capturing is incredibly inconsistent.

Most monsters will start limping once they're weak enough to be captured. It's more difficult to see underwater, but if you watch how they shift their weight when they swim away then it should be easier to spot. Flying creatures will usually limp to a specific place in the area before flying off to their rest spot.
A much easier way to see it is to have the Capture Guru armor skill (Perception +10). When the monster is painted, their symbol on the map will begin flashing white once they're weak enough for capture.
The only difficult thing about that is you have to zoom the map in if you're playing with three other people, and it becomes difficult to see the painted symbol at all when all four of you are right on the monster.

in case of Diablos it well enter rage mode as soon as you hit it

It'd be nice if there was a better tell than just limping, since that only really occurs when they transition areas. "Exhaustion" seems linked to it, but just because they're exhausted doesn't mean they're capturable. I've wasted tons of traps and tranq bombs thinking I've worn a monster down enough, and waiting for it to become exhausted, just for it to not be ready.

Trapping is something that takes a while to fully learn. After enough use of each weapon you can pretty much tell when something is weak enough regardless of limp or not.

Exhaustion as a whole is a new mechanic to Monster Hunter, but it would be cool if in future titles they linked it in some way to capturing.

this look like a fun event ....

Spoiler:
Holy crap that one big lizard !

Starting today, two new events are up.
One is the event "Blood Sport", which was up a few weeks ago. It entails fighting a weakened Diablos and Uragaan in the Arena. Really not as bad as it sounds, and the weapon (ML001: Baltzinger and it's upgrade Banderlance: Byakko) is an extremely useful fire weapon, and much easier to make than the Agnaktor lance.
The second event is "Cold Call", which is brand new as far as the US server is concerned. You fight a Great Baggi, Gigginox, and Barioth one after another. The reward is used to make the Tenebra and Tenebra D, an ice weapon which has no right being a Long Sword.
I posted this here mainly to see if anyone wanted to grind Cold Call sometime. I'm lacking in Ice weapons as it is, so Tenebra might be nice.

If anyone wants to play Monster Hunter with me, my character's name is Sketch, and his ID is HEJKA9.

If you still need the "Dark Metal" (I think it was..?) from Cold Call Xali, I'm deffinately up for farming that. Would also like to make a Tenebra D.

*Edit*

Never mind, just looked at the event quest list today, and it's no longer there.

Can anyone tell me if the offline co-op is any good for this? I am looking for somthing like this for the wife and I. I swear I read that there was also co-op offline, but I always have my reservations.

The offline Co-op, in my eyes, is not worth the purchase alone. It's restricted to being Arena only.

If you've never played Monster Hunter, then that basically means that your offline co-op takes place within a single tiny area (known as the Arena). The difference between the normal game and Arena play is that you're only fighting within one small room, instead of open environment from the regular game, and that you must use whatever weapon/armor set is available before going on the hunt, instead of being able to use your own Armor/Weapons.

It's a good way to practice the different weapons, but I don't feel it's as enjoyable as actually going
out on a hunt in one of the regular environments.

Thanks for the info Skechzter. I am always weary. Offline co-op has taken a back seat to online it seems. I am disappointed that no experiences like this are really available to play with my wife while we sit in the same room with one system.

Bump, because i started getting in to this game again. Does anyone else still play it / wanna play it with a cool dude like me? I have WiiSpeak and a keyboard so i have all methods of communication covered.

I have long since accepted i'm never actually going to get the urgent 5* Altraeon quest done.

I'm HR50 as well. I think I need a few quest cleared before I unlock Alatreon.
When are you on? I'm sure I could pop in.

I'm on an awful lot. Especially Mon/Wed/Thurs. Those are my glorious days off work. You should send me a friend request. If you still play.

I was thinking of playing more often as it is.
I'm good for most afternoons except Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I'd totally be down to play on Mondays. I usually work from 10am - 8pm CST when i do have work though.

I haven't played in a couple of months, but I'm on the same urgent quest. If I get back into it, I'll try to find you.
