Pimps 4 life!
I recently bought a new mobo and it's looking like i'm having power issues.

When I try to put my hard drive in it wont power up, yet when I take out the IDE ribbon, BAM! it powers up. Also, the Bio's dont show up and I'm not getting a signal from the video card even though it is powering up.

I assume its a powersupply issue because the Mobo specs are higher then my power supply's output.

Requirements:
+3.3v Must be "28A" or more
+5v Must be "28A" or more
+12v Must be "18A" or more

and my power supply specs:

+3v: 24A
+5v: 38A
+12v1: 15A
+12v2: 15A

Would this be causing these problems or would it be a defective Mobo?

Is that what would cause all these problems at once though?

What confuses me is the fact that the HDD wont go on when the IDE ribbon is in, and when I pull it out it starts up. Or the fact that it wont even pull up the bios.

Well when you dont have the IDE cable in, its only giving power to the HD, which makes sense.

When you plug said IDE cable in, not only does the power supply have to power the HD, but also supply more power to the mobo.

go get a 500W + power supply and you should have NO problems

Yeah but price might be an issue for some, all i know is in most instances (read: NO SLI/Crossfire) it should be fine.

Hell even im running a 400w and have no issues as of yet.

without SLI/Crossfire ya <450w is a lot already

but if SLI/Crossfire, you need 600W+ at minmium

Stick a big metal stick out side on your roof have some cables from it into your PC, then just wait for some thunder..... or listen to people above.

Make sure, if you have a graphics card that needs it's own dedicated source of power (any nVidia card above 6600) that it's not running, preferably unplugged and you're using the graphics from your mobo. You'll more than likely fry your GPU. I've had a few close calls doing that, after having to unplug the power in my card to get into my hard drive bay.

Well my Mobo is an AMD Athlon 64 / X2 3800+ (Dual Core). VideoCard is a Sapphire Raedeon x1600 xt. Anything I might be missing power wise?

What kind (brand) of power supply did you order? Got a direct link?

the 7600 GT runs entirely off of PCI x16... needs no 4 pin power connecter.

Meh, even the cheap brands will still last you for quite some time so no big deal there. Far as I know the only thing you might encounter is deterioration in the caps, but I'm no electrical engineer so I can't confirm nor deny that with facts. But your draw should be considerably less than your capacity now, so without a heavy stress on the PSU you should still expect a couple years at minimum from it.

Sweets^^ As long as I can play Oblivion at a nice high res. with this setup i'll be happy.
