More fuel for the VII remake rumor fire!

FFVIII battle system is fine the way it was >.>

Lol what never cast any magic ever? It also sucked how to get max stats you had to use the 3 characters you didn't like until jumbo cactar then level them individually with him because of his stat-ups when level.

But yeah it sucked how every time you used magic you lost stats.

Love the game my favorite FF by far, but the battle system could have been more thought out.

Battle system was fine, but they could alter the draw system at least...

I don't mind the draw system...I don't know why people think its so hard. Its so easy to abuse it ;x

What I wouldn't mind is being able to draw things for everyone on the map regardless of whether or not they had draw equipped. Also extra menu spot for abilities wouldn't hurt so that i might actually use stuff like Darkside and what not. 3 things was very limited as there were already 4 very good options for it(Gf, Magic, Draw, Item)

To Rinoah:

Yeah i guess more of a balance between magic and GFs might be nice.

I'd not mind an VIII remake if they actually remake the whole game's plot XD god that was so.. bah.. and actually make leveling WORTH it...

FFVI remake would be cool :P be nice if they fix some of the pacing of the game, some parts felt incredibly rushed to me.

FFVII remake would be fine but not necessary either, I think.

FFIX remake would be interesting but same thing with VII.

Ah well.. maybe they'll remake all the KH games D:

I loved FF8 except for two things.

1: the story, it's cool n all, but everything goes fuckin insane and changes at the end of disk three, yeah, it had been building up to it in the rare laguna flashback, then it was all WAUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHH SORCORESS! (Sp?)

2: The origin of monsters. FF7, they are mutated by Mako n stuff, 9, the mist causes them, 10, the pyreflies, so on, soforth.

eight.

THEY COME FROM THE MOON!

What the utter fuck!?

I've always sorta just looked the other way at the sorcerer storyline for FFVIII and just thought of it as a love story >_> Sorta works for me lol

VIII's plot owned in my opinion. Fav story out of the FF's I've played (although i never played much of VI).

lol yeah from the Moon was a little odd >.>.

I'm not suggesting a complete remake of the battle system just some tweaking, Like you mentioned 3 choices just wasn't enough, and the using up magic sucked a little. Although they had some really cool options like Card and Devour.

So yeah FFVIII remake ftw!!!

They could make battling actually worth it.. that had to be my biggest peeve :| it was better NOT to level.. that's just.. anti-RPG >.>

As Moriki said, the story was fine until the whole Ultemcia shit outta nowhere. If they had to do it, there could've been more connections to that really...

Better not to level? Why, because enemies get harder if you do? WTF is wrong with a game getting harder if you progress? I loved the level up thing enemies had.

it was like someone went "you have quarter of the disk to get to this point. fill in the story line, GO!"

I loved it too, wish most/all FF's had enemies leveling up with you.

No, cause I don't find that challenging as much as going through a game with trying to stay as low level as you can with enemies that are high themselves :P Lower leveled enemies didn't get some shit they do later levels, and so trying the "stay low level" challenge or "use one character" challenge or other fun challenges wasn't.. really challenging.

we sound like we would be much alike as i love VIII and have played it more than any other FF title, I would reccomend you play VI as that is my favorite one and i didnt play that one until after i had played 8.

i loved the subtle secrets of VIII too, Like the never spoken fact that laguna is squalls father. Eyes on me was written about laguna by his love whom married someone else and birthed rinoa, so their kids meet and fall in love in the end. Teh Awesome. xD
btw, i just got a full sized gunblade recently since my little bro didnt want it when he got it XD

Who's Squall's mother if Laguna is the father XD (I don't really remember that.. but I haven't played FF8 since like.. 2000.. damn disc :\)

Whoever needed to actually cast magic in FF8 sucked. Items could carry you the whole game.

Raine, duh.

Raine? damn I need to really play FFVIII again XD curse you FF8 disc T.T skipping on FMVs... bah. I hope it comes out for Playstation Store for the PSP.. I'd love to play it on my PSP as well as the other FF on PS1 (AND XENOGEARS FOR FAWKS SAKE!)

FF8 was awesome, but my major issue wasn't with the Sorceress storyline, because it's there all along, it starts with Edea and grows into Ultimecia(sp). What I did have a problem with was the memory loss due to GF's cop out. It's a pretty dumb plot device, but needed to hold the story together. The best part of 8 is that it was very well thought out in connections, everyone has some sort of connection. It's one of the reasons I love the show Heroes, all the characters have a connection to eachother somehow.

That being said, I refuse to believe that they'll remake any game after 7 until all the money is milked from the better of the first 7, most directly 4 5 and 6. I'd love to see a full remake of 4 personally as that was my first FF. All games after 7 (maybe even inclusive) are too graphically and technologically developed for them to remake outright, but I wouldn't count out prequel/sequels.

A bunch of remakes? Smells like a lack of creative direction. {Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass.}

lol guys, remember that one time we all grew up together? I almost totally forgot. Sorry, Final Fantasy VIII's story sucked more than my mother does on a Saturday night.

I fucking hated the hell out of FF8. Everything about it reeked total badness. The storyline was horrendous start to finish. The CG abuse was beyond absurd. The characters were all completely terrible and cliché without seeming intentionally so like most of the other FFs (one of the things that made 7's characters so endearing). The game takes itself way too seriously for that.

The battle system wasn't terrible but the ability system was. Draw/Junction is one of the most massively poorly implemented but clever ideas ever to grace a video game.

Yes. The first time I went through that scene, I shut the game off right at that "revelation" and didn't play it for a week. That was quite possibly the worst scene in any story ever conceived by a human outside of a porno.

And no, it wasn't well thought out in the connections, because the aforementioned scene was far from 'well thought out'. Thus the connection between... the game's entire cast... was a total cop out bullshit sequence.

Uh, as much as I would love to see some of the FF's remade a second and third and forth and fifth time, and released on yet another console platform, or another Crono Trigger rerelease with programming untouched so the console would have trouble reading it again and make the game laggy as hell, yet with a good amount of time dedicated to unneeded cut scenes that really detracted from the over all game, am I the only one who like to see Xenogears, ya know, finished? I dunno, but a disc 2 you could actually play would be nice. That's just me though.
