More fuel for the VII remake rumor fire!

Screw FF remakes. I want a Megaman Legends remake damn it!

I liked FFVIII. The only problem I had was also the whole GF memory thing. Kind of a stretch, but once past that it was good. And I still stand firmly on the theory that Ultimecia is Rinoa. If you think about it, it all fits. The Griever summon, the whole time compression thing to see Squall again, all that jazz. If you look at it that way, Ultimecia didn't come out of no where, but was actually there the whole time.

I'll be honest, I think I played FF8 the most out of all of them and looking back I am not sure why lol...

I enjoyed the game aside for a few things...

Rinoa - >_> omg she was so annoying lol

Draw system - every fight same thing... draw enemy... oh hey I don't have that spell... spend 5 minutes drawing to 100, rinse and repeat every single battle

Don't cast magic - casting spells makes you gimp don't do it!

GF - there was no reason to really use these guys. The only reasons to get them was to unlock more stats to assign spells to. Not using them also helped increase your SeeD ranking

Keeping Questis (sp?) limit break blue magic - broken lol

Ultima Weapon or Omega, I forget..the extra boss in the final dungeon - has anyone beaten this? After playing through like 3 times I still can't ;(

Storyline - weak sause

There were a few things about the game I give much credit to a few things in the game. I really enjoyed how the change between in game to CG CS. The Cutscenes were also very pretty, and the limit break system was fun to use for most of the characters. Also... the island Heaven, and the island, Hell was fun to lvl off of when you wanted to get 100 fast!

I personally liked 9 most, which is kind of bad in many peoples eyes. But the story was pretty good, and the game had a nice flow to it. idk, ffix was just good for me.

Bold A) Screw you >.>.
Bold B) Yes, basically you have to start summoning when he uses tera break or whatever it is called as it WILL kill everyone. But if you have a GF being summoned they take the brunt of the blow. Other than that it is basically abuse Aura using Zell, Squall and Irvine as they all have multi-hit limit breaks (And lionheart pwns so so much).

Just had to comment on the Omega and Ultima being too hard. Are you complaining about a game being bad because you find it too difficult?

Fight Omega at level 10. His moves dont do enough damage to kill you anymore.

Thanks to the junction system, you can have statistics like that of a level 70 character, without actualy being lvl70, and no bosses have minimum levels, which is retarded in a system where they level up with you.

This is why the system of the game sucked.

Oh and the limit break system was painfully ill-conceived, especially when they threw Aura into the mix and turned the game into "LOL I CAN SPAM TRIANGLE TO KILL ANYTHING, I'M SO COOL".

My only problem with FF8 was how useless summoning was. Second time I played through, I never set GF as a battle ability. The only time I had, was against Red Giant, since only Diabolos hurts him, unless you want to spend forever on that fight. I junctioned them, to learn abilities and stat boosts. But outside of that and using their refinement abilities, nothing.

If you actually needed to cast magic, you weren't good at the game. Offensive magic wasn't even the best stuff to junction with. It was mostly Status and Recovery magic, which items could handle their use in battle very easily.

Fun thing about FFVIII is that it's very difficult to make a sequel... being that the plotline is an infinite loop. But on that exact same line, it's very easy to make a sequel / remake, lol

Xenogears remake would be delicious... but wern't they planning to do that with Xenosaga? (Xenosaga 5 was scheduled to be the Xenogears remake, but they kinda just made Xenosaga 2 parts 1-2-3)

And just a random question... why do people complain about things being easy to abuse? It's not a multiplayer game, they're not being abused against you, so you can... y'know... choose not to abuse them? >_>;;

FF8 is hard not to abuse, that's the problem. You either abuse it and steamroll or you deliberately make your characters underpowered and total suck.

Yeah I abused the level up skill that levels up the mobs. I used to level them up to 100 when I was like 50 or 60 something(I can't remember now) and I'd use diablos for the gravity damage of 9999s since I was to weak to do any other serious damage. After I finished off the mob(was some snow monster) I would get so much experience, that I could gain 2-3 levels per fight. Of course I did this all the way to lv 100. And the fights weren't all that long either. Just watching diablos do his thing was the longest part.

I'm also am not a fan of the whole mobs leveling up with you. Makes it feel like leveling up is pointless. You'd have just as rough of a time killing something at lv 70ish as you would being lv 5ish on the same monster. Its like why bother leveling up. It might as well be the same thing as an adventure game where you don't level up and everything stays even throughout the whole game other than power ups, which in this game's case would be magic and equipment. Just my opinion on it though.

No, cause I don't find that challenging as much as going through a game with trying to stay as low level as you can with enemies that are high themselves :P Lower leveled enemies didn't get some shit they do later levels, and so trying the "stay low level" challenge or "use one character" challenge or other fun challenges wasn't.. really challenging.

THen don't do the challenges? No one told you to stay low level in the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, normally in any video game your objective is to level up/grow stronger...

As for the easiest way to get to 100. Screw the leveling mobs up thing, no need for Diabolos. Get squall into low hp or use Aura and go renzokuken/lionheart 4tw.

Obviously you suck at balancing things out. I found the happy median, I'm sure others can to.

Yeah I agree. The game was made so that first time players who didn't know how to use junction properly would rely solely on GFs. But people who replayed the game would find no use for them whatsoever.

Honestly, I wish more games had a similar mobs level with you system. I can't stand grinding in console games much more than I can stand it in MMOs. The reason I put up with it in MMOs is that I have people to chat with during it... If you can combine the good parts of 8 and 9 you have one amazing game, but sadly, we'll just get more puked out 10's and the occasional 12.

pretty sure we'll never see a Xenogears remake T.T specially from the original creator since ya.. he's with a different company and all. Not sure if Square Enix has COMPLETE rights to it either.. I think each have some rights? like both have to agree? But I could be wrong.. even so, I fear SE would fuck it up horribly :\

And nothing wrong with abusing if you don't want a challenge :P I tend to do that if I feel like screwing around.. but still.. I liked the challenge. I didn't care to level up to 100 to make it a challenge for myself when even at 100 it wasn't that big a challenge. All mobs needed a minimum level set I think. That woulda fixed it a bit better (at least the bosses)

I'd love to see more RPGs like Grandia 2 and FF10, actually... where if you don't stop to level but at least fight out every battle on the way, things will be reasonably challenging but not impossible. Grandia 2 was a huge example of this, since it had fixed encounters that would only reset upon exiting a dungeon area entirely and re-entering, and zero forced backtracking.

FF8's mobs-level-with-you system was flawed for one huge reason.

Bosses have level caps.

Try it some time. I got to 100 before entering Lunatic Pandora (Level Up on tyrannosaurs, and then J-sleep them to death one poke at a time - doomtrain helps), and the bosses at the end were pathetic - the machine thing capped at 42, Seifer at 48, and the sorceress capped at 46 IIRC.

Then again they were probably also pathetic because I was doing like 6-9k with my normal attacks because the ability system was so poor.

I'd rather gain stats by KILLING STUFF rather than standing around fighting the same mob for a half hour Drawing over and over again. So fucking boring. FF8 literally punished you for killing mobs (stronger enemies) rather than just drawing them dry and escaping. The stat gains from Junction were too effective.

i wanna see an VIII remake, VII is old with all this other movie/shooter spin off stuff. tired of fanboy wagon with that game! VIII or VI

why ruin what is already hands down the best FF? As for 8 it was meh I didn't care for it. I liked IX though aside from the graphics not being too great. I thought it was a good game.

I like IX a lot, it was really pretty solid all-around. Nothing incredibly spectacular overall but there wasn't really a lot that could be faulted IMO.

IX was definitely my favorite of the PSX era FF's, followed by VII and lastly VIII(although I still enjoyed this). Not sure if I'd want a remake of IX though, the graphic style accentuated the gameplay for me, old school sprites and whatnot.
