More fuel for the VII remake rumor fire!

I want a new Final Fantasy Tactics. Not a sequel. Not even in Ivalice. Just a new Final Fantasy with the same tactical battle system but with a much longer story and a much larger world to explore, maybe even something similar to Warcraft III but with a little more RPG and a little less RTS.

Try Tactics Ogre. It's made by Atlus, the guys that SE bought and forced to make FFT, so it plays virtually the same and looks virtually the same.

Hehe, the only thing I've never liked from a tactics game (or Suikoden) was the linear movement (didn't like that about FFX either or lots of stuff with that). I wonder if there's a tactics game with free roaming to explore stuff but encounters had tactics kinda battles :P ah well *shrugs* wasn't ever a huge killer of fun for me.

Already played it several times through as well as Ogre Battle 64.

Arc the lad wasn't too bad but from what little I've played of it. I didn't get to far into it to give a personal opinion about story and whatnot. There are several sequals too that tell the story from different character's viewpoints which sounds pretty interesting.

Remakes you say?

As it was said, bring Chrono Trigger. With Dragon Quest VIII-like graphics (or better). ^^

Four words: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

Three words, Secret of Mana. Or, Seiken Densetsu 2. Take your pick, they're both the same game.

DS Secret of Mana with Menus on the touch screen to streamline battles + NWC Co-op would be AWESOME.

Hell yeah, I would so buy that in a heartbeat.

And while they're at it localize Seiken Densetsu 3 finally and package it together with 2 >>

ya prz

Nintendo Power accidentally had screenshots of SD3 in an article of the upcoming SD game for DS. I was like... OMG PLEASE DEAR GOD LET THAT NOT BE A MISTAKE, but they pointed out the error in the next issue and said it was purely a mistake.

Just had to comment on the Omega and Ultima being too hard. Are you complaining about a game being bad because you find it too difficult?

lol no... as I posted before I've beaten it about 3 times through >_>; 1 on PC and 2 on PS lol. I'm not complaining it was hard, just saying some factors in the game was not to my personal liking ;(

well, hopping on the remake bandwagon, i'd kinda like to see a parasite eve remake... >.>

This maybe BS, recheck the link.

I couldn't follow FF8, there were too many minor characters and sub-plots

comments on the thread...

VII remake would instantly sell whatever console it was released on. no questions asked. game made of win.

VIII remake... would give them a good chance to re-think some of the draw/JUNCTION/gf/magic/CARD REFINE/limit break systems. basically, a large portion of the game could be fixed by
A) Removing powerful draw points from the WORLD MAP
B) Rethinking junctioning of magic. this made for a powerful stat increase and was a uniquely thought out system... but some points of it were very overpowered and it made Magic a non-viable resource.
C) Re-thinking of the card refine. or at least limiting the availability of certain cards to certain points in the game. W/ Ifrit's ammo refine and some card skillz and a bit of luck you could be lionhearting things very early in the game.... ya...
D) Removing character's cards from the game... did these ever make sense to anyone? bunch of nobodies who could be level 10 at the end of the game.... have the most powerful cards out there attributed to themselves before they ever DO anything... replace them with... i don't care, important "historical" warriors... w/e.
E) Making the Pocket Pack content available somehow. likely via the PSP.
F) actually rewrite the story a little bit so one might actually care about/want to kill the end boss and making the deaths of certain important villianous characters *coughseifercough* a turning point in the story. Also, they could kill selphie off. please?
G) they made the limits in this game so overpowered that they were the only worthwhile strategy in the game for hard bosses... the cheap ability to spam them... well, it was so bad they made the limits in the next game ALL suck. Re-vamp is in order...

The most fun I ever had with VIII was when I realized you could beat Diabolos with Laguna and company. The draw system didn't really appeal to me as I like to use magic and summons, I dig the Materia System pretty well as magic stayed useful until you got a few double cuts mastered.

I liked the battle system of IV real well because the characters were unique in thier abilities. You couldn't make everyone learn everything, rendering many characters useless. The drawback was that the story was very linear and didn't allow you to pick your characters.

The best story line and battle system goes to VI. I mean, who doesn't like star wars? All the Characters had their own unique abilities, and unless you used a guide on the first time through, that shit was hard. The few things that would make it incredibly easy weren't apparent unless you just played the hell out of it. Going through the game the very first time, most people wouldn't find out about things like economizers, vanish/doom, offering/genji glove/atma weapon/valient knife/locke, the importance of stat increases over learning spells, the best rewards from the colloseum, and all that other jazz. Unless you used a guide, but then that's your own fault if you did. And in comparison to what I played before, I really thought it was over after i found the espers in the cave and took them back to Thamasa, but then... Enter Kefka <boom> Part II.

VII was great, but mainly because I stared at the pretty graphics in awe of how far FF had come. VIII got played through once. I couldn't stand IX and didn't even finish it. X was a very nice game and I played through it a few times, and even killed all the monsters on the arena list (Th'uban was beastly)

X-2 Who wants to play dress up!!!

Not me.

Materia system is probably one of my favorite magic setups in any FF. Plus the limit breaks kind of helped seperate the characters apart considering that once the materia was mastered, everyone could do everything. Worst setup was IX in my opinion. I don't like relying on equipment to learn my stuff. When upgrades are avialable, you couldn't use them right away until you finished learning the spell that it had to offer. Least thats how I played it anyway. I wanted to learn everything.

The sphere system was fun in X. I still prefer levels rather than just stats but it was still a neat and a different idea to build the stats and spells of a character. XI is basic learning stuff which I like. More like old school stuff. Reach a certain level, learn a spell or skill. Just need a lot of money for some of it lol. Takes a lot of work to build and use that class as well. Love job systems :). Why I loved FFT so much. I liked it in X-2 as well its just hard to play a game that so...I guess girlie. Plus I didn't care much for the story line. It also got to repetative for me, revisiting the same places and just going back and forth over and over. I did beat it though suprisingly :).

XII isn't bad. Just a different version of the sphere grid. Gambit system was pretty cool in my opinion. Love how it was so in depth. You could have your characters doing all kinds of things. Loved the battle system. I know it got mixed reactions but I personally liked it. Its like a somewhat more realistic version of an RPG. Plus I like MMOs which kind of reminds me of one. I still love the traditional turn based style as well. I hope XIII will be something pretty good.

I liked IX, X, and X-2 (to an extent). The characters became annoying as hell in FFX-2 and majority of the music blew. The story (what it had) wasn't too bad.. just wasn't much of it. The dress sphere was a good addition I think. Not cause of the dressing part but the fact it brought back jobs essentially and being able to switch them, tons of fun imo.

X was pure win. The ONLY downside was the linear movement which really hardly hindered it, I think. Sphere grid was a nice change and, really, once you get Don Tonberry, is easy as hell to max out (99 spheres a minute essentially <3).

IX was fun :D good ol' fashion FF style with solid story line, good music, fun characters.. nothing bad about it, I think. Just wasn't also very memorable compared to others.

I liked that about IX :P it wasn't hard to grind up those abilities quickly. Not long at all and fun, I think. But that's my opinion :P

And XII wasn't really a different version of the sphere grid.. the license board was rather.. poorly implemented I think. Everyone started out around the same stuff pretty much and it was easy to get to more. They could've improved it given the INCREDIBLE time they had from so many delays. The story was lacking too, I think it was too short. Characters.. like Panelo and Vaan were pretty much unnecessary to the story. Some say "well FFXII for DS will go more into their story" and I say "I don't care to have to play another game to learn holes from the first.. I'd rather play an expansion that built more on it and the first to have no holes." I did like the gameplay though, that was tons of fun.

I fear for XIII and such.. it seems to be spread too much. 2 PS3 titles, at least, an MMO for, I'm assuming, 360, PS3, and PC, as well as a cell phone version of the game and finally two other titles we don't know much about (though probably going right to Nintendo). I suspect a bad game coming :| I'm REALLY hoping I'm wrong.
