I have been wondering this for some time...

Is it better to switch to a 1h weapon and shield from a 2handed then 2hr

for more crits and less delay

i understand if there is a lot of tp in the 2h weapon then it would be best trigger 2hr and get to 100%

this is from reading about wars(not much)

but what is best when you 2hr for best effectiveness, if i didn't explain it well enough let me know

Mighty Strikes + Rampage = ownage

Also works wonders if you do SA/TA Raging Rush combined with Mighty Strikes.

Single handed and Dual Weilding yield same DoT... Disregarding misses and damage variations.

So, load up on Acc, pop mighty strikes, and pray double attack kicks in alot... then you can rampage all your little heart desires.

Just this last weekend i did 2k damage on Robber Crabs in tree with my mighty strikes... Twas sweet. Double attack on 8/12 swings rocked that crab.

Yeah. I'd say go 1h axes. Lower delay, and more hits per weapon skill. Just make sure you have good accuracy, especially if you're going to use a GAxe. If not you're going to miss half of your swings, and with a two handed weapon you're going to pay for missing with the high delay.

The most effective use of Mighty Strikes is more based around your TP than your weapon. Firing Mighty Strikes with TP already in hand is best because you can immediately follow up with an intense damage WS, with a chance to get 100 TP for a second before it wears off.

And like mentioned by a few of us, accuracy means everything with it. That Rampage could have only hit maybe two or three times, where the regular one could have hit all times, with a couple of the hits being critical as well. Could have also had some double attacks in there. Since weapon skills don't give you the complete details of how many hits landed, you don't really know for sure.

had ohat huberk life belt and 1 snip with acc food :3

That's all weak. If you really want to do DMG with axes play DRK/NIN 56+. The only thing you lose out on is Double Attack, but if you have a BRD that plays double minuet then it doesn't even matter.

Anyone ever see a Rampage for 1200+ DMG at level 57??? I have and you know what, if PLDs would learn to cover thier damn DRKs then it would be a more common thing. OK let me lay this down here... Cover 5 min recast....last resort 5 min recast.. Souleater...6 min recast...So that means that every time that a DRK uses Souleater/Last Resort, if you have a PLD in your party they should use cover just after the DRK goes balls to the walls damage. Right????? Sure you say yes.....but why has it been like no PLDs leveling through the late 50s into the 60s have no idea about what cover is ment for? It's a level 35 ability for christs sake. As myself and my buddy have leveled from 55-59 in his case and 57 in mine as a DD, we found that only one PLD would cover him when he went ballz to the wallz damage. I really wish I could remember the name of that mithra PLD that would cover an Elvaan DRK/NIN doing a Rampage, after absorbing STR and DEX but I really can't remember who that was...If you partied with Shaunessy and Darkenemy as a Mithra PLD please speak up because you did an awsome job.

DRK has a subpar grade in axe skill, so they'd be whiffing on those rampages more often then their Guillotines, though Guillotine is later. Last Resort is not 5 minutes, it's 3. Souleater is not 6, it's 5. Cover is 3. Cover, even with AF1 enhancement, only lasts roughly 20 seconds, so if the mob isn't going to die soon after, the DRK is. A DRK stacking all of their buffs for one big WS is not a very good one, or your party is taking so long to kill it doesn't matter, which is no better.

DRK dont want to do /nin till on weapons in sky as they make to much hate and from exp is een a drk sata for alot on a mnk then mnk ws then blm mb what a pld can just keep up but a ramage be stupid as hate be on 3 people not 2

SATA... on... a MNK? Did I read that right? That's, like... trying to MPK the guy.

And on the topic of DRK/NIN before merit parties... Bad idea. Sure, they can make the biggest numbers you've ever seen at that level, but their DoT will be horrible. And DoT is what makes mobs die, not a once every 5 minutes super attack. At 70+, DRK has a lot more gear available to make the combo work, not at 57.

I prefer Mighty Strikes with a Great Axe. Double Attack + double crits = digital sex. Especially on TW / EP mobs, where your crits are gonna do 300 or so.

I always wait for at least 100% tp before popping it though; as Cythe said, you can often make it to 100% again and get another nice WS in before she wears off. If it's a VT or higher mob, I focus on acc gear... T or less, I max out on str for higher crit capacity.

Crap i hate it when i leave out the important details, i forgot to mention im taking war from 5-37 but i know at least some of the stuff to do when i get double att.

The focus of my ? was directed at low lvs to 37, still what you guys had to say still overlapped a bit so i guess can i still apply it to dunes esp, or quifim, crawlers nest i will have the ja's i need and double attack.

Sorry about that^^;

Oh, in that case...

300% Mighty Strikes Sturmwind. Do it as often as you can.

rather have a mnked SATAed then a taru mage

That comes at 21 for war and before then?

Before then, hell even when you get Sturmwind, MS earns it's nickname of Mighty Whiffs. In the early levels pre-Sturm, use MS when your party looks rough - mages low on mp, link that cant be contained / zoned, etc.

Hell if you're just bored and want to use it, you may even want to wait to 100%, pop a Shield Break to lower the mob's eva, then MS and whack on it to rebuild TP. You won't get 100% again before it wears off (no Double Attack to help), but you'll get more use out if it with the eva down.

Honestly I usually only pop my 2hr when I'm doing a 300% weapon skill or need to plant a lot of hate early in a fight. Mighty Strikes is fairly... whats the word... useless in regular xp situations - it won't save the day nearly as much as whm or pld 2hr.

Ultimately: if you need something dead quick, pop it. Every little bit helps.
