I like movies.

If anyone has seen a movie that is currently playing and has a comment about the movie, post it here. If their is a different thread about the same thing, oh well here is a new one.

I just saw "Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" and I freakin' loved it. Wes Anderson has awesome style. It's even weirder than Rushmore and Tenabaums, which weirdos like me should enjoy. William Dafoe (who I usually can't stand, i.e. Boondock Saints) was HILARIOUS although the movie wasn't as funny as I initially thought it would be. I actually almost cried (tell anyone and I'll punch you in the face) at the end and I am definatelly adding this one to my collection when it comes out. Movie is slow going though.

Sidenote: Throughout the whole movie a guy is playing old Bowie songs in Portugese (I think) on an acoustic guitar. The movie was worth it just for that seeing that. Old Bowie rocks my socks. Iggy and Devo also make appearences in the soundtrack. The Iggy scene is the best scene ever.

I want to see Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou soooo bad. I love all of Wes Anderson's movies...even the early ones like Bottle Rockets. <3 And I <3 Bill Murray. GARRRRRRR...I will have to see it soon.

Over Christmas break with my family we saw LEMONY SNICKETS SERIES OF UNUSUAL EVENTS - which, though is sort of a kids movie - I liked it. Being an actress, I am a fan of Meryl Streep and Jim Carrey and Dustin Hoffman, etc. Their acting style was larger than life (hence, kids movie) which might not be something EVERYONE would enjoy....but yeah. Jim Carrey's character is far more evil than most villians in kids movies - which makes it good, and it has some adult jokes. And it LOOKS awesome. Very dark.

I also recently saw FINDING NEVERLAND which was also good. Very sad. I mean, the whole movie is far more depressing than uplifting - which isn't shown in the previews...but it was still a good story - and the acting was EXCEPTIONAL. Johhney Depp is always good, but Kate Winslet was even good in it (I don't usually like her - but ever since ETERNAL SUNSHINE she has been great...maybe she finally took some classes) and the little lead boy in it - is CRAZY good. Better acting job than most adults I have seen. (He is going to be Charlie in the Tim Burton Willy Wonka coming out in July) So - yeah. Sad, but good story and great acting. Definitely worth seeing.

We are renting ANCHORMAN tonight :) I am excited about that one.

I like this thread. <3

I was dragged to Bridget Jones Diary 2... Wasn't a great movie. But I did get to spend time with a girl i like, so it was sall good.

The Life Aquatic is one of the best films I've ever seen. Darkly funny, poignant, revealing-all the good stuff. The delightfully dismal tale of reconciliation. The other people thought I was nuts for singing along with the music at the climax of the movie (Staralfur by Sigur Ros). Well, I am crazy. Who the hell else sings in Icelandic at a movie theater in Texas?
Anyway, great film. Not for everyone, though. If you like shit, you won't like this movie.

Anchor man rocks! My roomate and I rented it, watched the whole DVD, all the bonuses are worth it! My friends sister has this "Anchor man 2, the adventures continue" DVD too, haven't seen it but it's probably great.

Saw Unfortunate Events, liked it, not as good as the books, and they took tons of liberties, but it's a movie.

I'm looking forword to The Machinest.

Has anyone seen SPANGLISH yet? I am interested in hearing what it is like...

I love Adam Sandler... I think this will be my next movie.

I do too - and I love that he is taking on serious roles as well as the comedies that he is so fabulous at. <3 It looks really good, I hope it doesn't dissapoint

(QUOTE TREE) Yea, Punch Drunk Love is one of my favorites... I was on a first date when I saw it and the girl hated it so I asked to be dropped off at the closest bar. I own it now and watch it frequently ^^

Spanglish was alright. Just proof that Adam Sandler IS a good actor, just just a goofball. It was kind of a downer, but I really liked it, and the wife cried, (another sign of a good movie).

Also rented Napoleon Dynamite, which turns out would have been one of my favorite movies of last year.

Napoleon Dynamite - I thought it was entertaining and really funny, overrated unless you put those crazy's that are all over it in the cult classics category. Random humor in its essence, fun characters.

Collateral - Wow, just an amazing film. Jamie Foxx did a good job withit not superb (that title goes to Cruise) but good none the less. Lots of good action and dialogue. Cool cinematography. Highly Reccomend it.

I really want to see life Aquatic >.<.

I am going to see LIFE AQUATIC tomorrow night! Yay!!!! <3

BTW - is anyone else excited that Michael Keaton is starring in WHITE NOISE? I won't see the movie (/em is a WOOSIE when it comes to those types of movies) but I am glad to see that he is making a comeback. I always liked Michael Keaton.

Going to see White Noise next week.
My wife always gets courageous going into a scary movie, but then she complains to me about how horribly scary it was and that she has nightmares.

We just saw LIFE AQUATIC <3

I liked it, dragged a bit in some parts - and if you don't like dry humor, than it isn't for you...but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bill Murray was GREAT, I <3 Angelica Huston, and William Dafoe (whom I normally can't stand) was my fav. character - was my fav. character...absolutely hilarious.

Not my fav. Wes Anderson (still a Royal Tenenbaums girl all the way) but definitely worth seeing at the theatre. <3

We just rented NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE last night. I honestly did not think I would like it at all....the commercials served it no justice - after seeing the commercials, I was like "Um...a movie with an annoying lead character? Thanks, but NO" Then we kept hearing all these rave reviews and finally succumbed to the temptation...

Anyway, I loved it. :) The characters where unique and freaking funny. This past year has had a lot of small budget quirky movies that are outstanding (Napolean Dynamite, Garden State, Eternal Sunshine, etc.) I hope this is a movie trend that is here to stay. <3 It has been a LONG LONG time since I have seen so many good movies in a row....or maybe I am just getting better at picking and choosing...meh, either way - YAY!
