multiple 75 jobs and merrits

I'm not to this point yet but will be. When you have 2 jobs at 75 on one character can you go merriting on one job like say rdm and use those merrit points towards say blm which is also 75?

I know xp is different but I'm not sure on the merrit system. I'm hoping so then I might actually start merriting someday lol.
 
Yes.

All merrits except for job-specific ones affect all jobs. So if you're a mage and plan on lvling PLD, you might not want to merrit Enmity Reduction.
 
No your not understanding my question.

Unused merrits from say lvling rdm you have 3, can you switch to another job that is 75 and use those 3 merrits towards that job.
Like I merrit on rdm, and use points for blm potency.

I'm not sure if its possible but its worth asking

Yes, you can. I earned merit points on my white mage, which I then changed to my monk and spent the merits on monk-related items. The total merit exp is pooled among all jobs at 75, so it doesn't matter which you merit with.
 
sweets thanks baja that's what I was hoping.

I like soloing and trioing and when nin and rdm hit 75 its going to be fun earning merrits for what ever job I want but still keep my base set up.

I have a question, I'm kind of new at the idea of merits, though I don't have a job at 75, and probably won't get one there anytime soon. But anyhows, Is there any set number to the amount of merits you can attain? I read somewhere that you can only get like 10 merits or whatever, is that right?

You can have 10 unspent merits at any time, and there are limits to the amount of spent merits you can have, per category. It'd take around 2 milion exp to reach that cap though, so you'd have to exp for a very long time to reach it.

It would also depend on where you go with merits. The more you increase one individual item, the more EXP it would take compared to increasing multiple things.
 
Lol 2mil would be 75*2 and then some.

With the 10k/hr parties that's only like 200 hrs of xping :p
5k/hr would be around 400hrs

I just have a hard time keeping my death buff up and not deleveling. I'm suicidal and will take a r1 without blinking just to get back up and try and finish what I started.

I'd recommend before switching to merits, that you cap your exp buffer then. I did that on my white mage, and whenever I would die and get raised, it would only take a couple mobs before I was back on limit points again.

lol thats why i only have 1 merrit, when you can lose 10k easy in 1 bcnm its hard to keep up. I also have a lot of other things i work on with my multiple characters. think the most i lost in 1 day was ~20k in xp and that was when i was doing endgame type stuff.

whm is a lot easier to keep the xp buff up on then my blm. in a standard xp setup i dont keep dying just when its time to turn the power up a notch and try and get the job done. capped xp at 75 is still a dream to me lol, i'm sure i could do it now that i'm not heavy into endgame though. my goal is by my bday to of gotten another merrit on blm lol thats 5 months from now and i dont merrit untill i've got at least 30k in xp buff. i'm 1.8k away from next thunder potency merrit ; ;

amen.. I have no time to merit, and personally, I hate exping PLD end game, everything is better tankable by a NIN there anyway.
 
yeah, once i got buffers on a few jobs, never merit them really.. pretty much always merit MNK and NIN, rarely RDM.
 
BST: The ultimate farming/merit job.

It's slow as feck (2-2.5k exp per hour) but I usually go home with a brand new shiney merit every day or two and half a million gil in drops. Just hard to decide whether to pimp out my bst or merit my blm since my bst keeps me going and my blm is mainly for the LS..

how is 2-2.5k/hour an ultimate merit job?? lol most cannon parties can do 8-13k/hour, it'd take you 4-7 times as long to do that at the rate you gave.

anyways it is nice to get that gil in drops though:)
