MW2

Yeah the ACR is sexy. But I'm never usin anything other than the famas now. Ever since I started usin it i've climbed from 1.41 to 1.51 (have about 10,000 kills) so it takes a bit to raise it. And still climbing, don't really know how my ratio got that low. I started writing down my ratio each game, and it rarely goes under 2. Paying a lot of attention to my ratio has definitely up'd my game.

also, to edit a bit....not all m16 were able to use full auto. they can be ALTERED to make them full auto. but, every semi auto rifle can be. so, that is a tricky statement.

Yeah, I figured you'd miss the point behind me sayin', "I guess the first thing to note would be that all M16 rifles were and are built with the -capability- to fire at full auto whether the option is available after assembly or not." I figured the word "capability" might cause some confusion.

What that means, put more bluntly, is that Colt makes every single M16 with the mind frame that it will be shot full auto even if the gun at hand doesn't give the selection of it.

Its kind of hard for me to take any criticism/opinions from you on this matter, considerin' your original stance was, "the m16 real world counter-part is single fire or 3 round burst. does NOT have full auto functionality."

Anyway, the origins of all of this began with the rate of fire stat given in the game. I'm pretty damn sure I've given valid enough reason as to why I would expect them to go with a full auto rate.

To get back on topic here with the rest of the world:

I wish I could put down the TAR and use the FAMAS more... I have one extra class spot, Prestige 1, and I will not prestige again. Every single slot except for two have a TAR. The other two are my CTF runner and Snipe builds so I can't really swap them out for a FAMAS either.

I did make a new TAR build to mess around with yesterday. I was thinkin', "What's the gayest thing I could possibly do" as I was pretty bored by doin' the same old same. I loaded up a TAR with a Noob Tube choosing a Thumper as a secondary and Claymore as my equipment. I perked with Scavenger, Danger Close, and Commando. It was one of the few times I was playin' with randoms so I didn't have a care in the world. To put it short, that shit'll make people cry.

on the same token, i cant take the same criticism from you. the m16 in the game is the a2. its real world counterpart is not full auto.
its already bad enough that there was so much "overpowreed" arguments on the m16 in cod4. to make it a full auto weapon wouldnt help such whining go away. i would have a hard time swallowing them making an m16 anything but single shot or burst. if anything, they should allow fire rate selection. in this case, the m16 should only be eligible to be single or burst mode. if they want a full auto m16, they can use the m4. after all, that is the same weapon in essence.
ive come to the conclusion that the fire rate that they give the M16 in game is the rate that it fires the burst. the burst that they give it is pretty quick. if they want to get real picky, its too fast for what it should really be

but yes, the m16 comes in a full auto version. it is the m16A3. formerly known as the ar-15. name changed to try to gain government contract.

That should be enough of this, no?

i stand corrected. but either way. a4 still isnt full auto for military grade.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/weapons/a/m16rifles.htm

"...The M16A4 Rifle is a standard M16A2 Rifle with a flat top upper receiver and detachable carrying handle"

http://www.militaryfactory.com/smallarms/detail.asp?smallarms_id=230

"....Firing selections are limited to semi and burst capabilities with a standard safety as well."

with that being said, the way they implemented it is perfect. now that you corrected my misunderstanding. now that i know its an A4 in game, it solved my question of "why the reciever changed so much just by adding a red dot if its an a2".

Depends on the grade of the branch of the military you're in. However, it bein' preferred or not doesn't make a matter. I wouldn't use it is I was a Seal, there are better options.

I agree, I like they way the have it implemented. I really am not one to complain about the M16 and FAMAS and I do not even use them. I think they are very suitable weapons for the game. However, there are a lot of people who wish the M16 was in full auto form (at least on the forums and stuff). I don't think they know what they are asking for. I feel that if IW was to make the M16 full auto it would take it out of the running at even being effective (it would totally kill the range on it at the very least). The strongest point behind the M16 is you get 3 for the price of 1, especially if you're shooting a straight line with little to no sway to the right or left. I'd imagine shooting the M16 full auto, given the recoil based on burst, would be about like tryin' to shoot a target while sittin' on top of a functioning Jack Hammer.

regardless of branch. government does not use the m16 full auto. the army uses the m4 as its full auto. marines will never use any m16 on full auto. they are possibly going to pick up the m4 as well for full auto.

You can stop bull shitting with Scavenger if you are going to have a tube setup. One man army is by far the top of my list of broken items and makes Scavenger irrelevant in this area... Its funny IW chose to fix the 87's first lol.

Anyways..

Whatever gun, with a tube. Use claymores..

One man army.

Whatever second perk you wish.. Uav jammer, Danger close, That kill streak thing..

Whatever third perk you want here... Doesnt matter.

By the time you get One man army pro its just stupid. Claymore one exit, one man army, claymore another exit, oneman army, shoot two tubes, one man army.. Repeat. Its so broken in hard core. It will take you about 2 seconds to reload your ammo instead of finding one of those silly blue baggies.

my old boss used this tactic all the time. its a tad rediculous.

im happy to not hear all the whining and crying people bitching about the m16 being overpowered. they implemented it much closer to its real stats this time. as for the recoil, the recoil in game is over exaggerated. it actually has very little recoil. however, if they didnt implement adjusted recoil, it would just be crazy.

the famas, i used that after i prestiged. did well with it, but i was always on the understanding that it was a full auto type of weapon. thats usually what it was in all other vid games it was in

The way I've heard it most Marines already use the M4. Their was an article in USA Today a few months back about them bitchin' about how often they malfunction. It seemed that the M4 was the weapon of choice in the Sandbox right now based on the flow of the article.

Also, the Seals, back when Colt introduced the M16A2, opted for the M16A3 version (full auto). Whether they use/d the feature or not, who knows, I don't care, I'm just sayin' that certain branches of the military do/can carry the weapon with the feature. Obviously now though they'd have the M16A4 instead of the A3, I'd imagine, if they kept with the M16 over another weapon, like the M4. However, keeping with the M16 I wouldn't think would be very smart since the birth of the M4. Isn't the M4 more suitable for most scopes and attachments and the M16 only a few?

I was talkin' about game recoil btw. I have no idea how it is in real life.

Osy, I didn't think of that... Thanks.

heres the thing. the A3 is not really a real model. its the ar15 renamed to appeal to the government/military to get them to buy it. it didnt really get accepted. but, since they already renamed it, gives the a4 its name.

when i was in the marines, the widely, and only used rifle used by the marines was the m16a2. now granted, you have to remember what the army has, the marines get it quite a few years later. but, the next rifle that the usmc was to get is the a4. soon after that point, was the time i got out of the military. i saw a few people get the ability to use them over the a2
i didnt bother to read what the date on the article i read about the m4, was. but, i would imagine they are going to use it for close counter urban environments. for the m4, i always thought that it was a better option in SOME instances over the m16. the m4, you have full auto and single fire. and for marines, they push the "one shot, one kill" methodology in your shooting. but, they lose the ability for longer range accuracy.
but, in todays standards of urban envrionments, its not really a huge issue.

ya, i understood about the recoil. but i was just saying they made the recoil a bit too much in game.
to give you an idea of the recoil for an m16, its just a bit over the recoil of a .22

i dont really understand, nor will i ever understand how the m16 wouldnt be working well. maybe its the barrel length. the m16 and the m4 share all of the same parts minus barrel length and inner workings of the trigger mech.
what they need to do is go to one of the systems that HK was making that could be fired after being buried and after being take directly out of water. thats what they really need

Ayup, but you see, if I didn't use the proper name it might have caused another big debate. I'm debated out for the day.

I have gotten to a 24 kill streak three times now, and died before the nuke. Even went 118-38 one game, died at a 24 streak. God does not want me to have a nuke.

Try Hardline man, then again you might start toppin' out at 23. Either way, 118-38 is better than droppin' a Nuke in my book.

So, has anyone else noticed whether or not the hit detection is a lot better now after the update? A few friends of mine have commented that it seemed better and I've noticed it myself. I still get the occasional "WTF?!" game, but its only like once or twice a night.

Uh didn't notice any change lol

The hit detection in the game is still broken. I have not noticed a single improvement. I think whatever improvement your friends noticed was based on host being in your party/team. There is a serious host advantage in MW2 that was not relevant in CoD4. I just dont fucking understand why the 1887s were the first thing IW decided to address.. The game has at the least 4-5 more very obvious problems that needed to be delt with pronto but what ever. If you were thinking IW was on top of the food chain before this game dropped then you were a fool.

Been drinking all night so excuse my dragging.

I always get the bad hit detection when I am the host. If I'm hosting I might as well be a one bar. No idea why either, my net is pretty stout. Right now its runnin' at 30.46 down and 1.93 up, should not be a problem. Reason I know its my host is I usually quit these games and I'll hear my party say somethin' about it, it's a runnin' gag by now. My experience post patch has been more pleasant though and I'm not the only person on my team to notice something.

You know me better than that. Look at how long it took them to even acknowledge there was a problem with matchmaking after the Javy patch. Also since the latest patch games of Global Thermonuclear War have been poppin' up. Not quite sure how to do it myself but give it a day or two and it'll prolly be everywhere.

Thats my bad Strid. That was aimed at no one in perticular here. Just stating the obvious about IW that some seem to ignore. They just really are not that great of a dev.

Strid my host experience is a complete different monster from what you describe. When i am host i dont need to actually even hit the enemy with my line of fire. I can aim slightly off or even just wave my line of fire across them and get a kill.

That's how it is for my buddies man. I don't get it. Chances are if I'm laggin' balls I'm the damn host.
