As the title says, his great-grandma passed away last night. He is out of town for work for the week (like 6 hours away) and the last time I talked to him was Wednesday. We both have cell phones but only 1 charger & his cell phone went dead and he's unable to charge it cause he left the charger here. So I can't call him and he would be calling me long distance on a payphone or someone else's cell, so I probably wont see him until he gets back home late late tonight or tomorrow. I told him Tuesday that his great-grandma was in the hospital, and he got real upset of course. Since then I found out she wasn't doing good & probably wasn't going to make it. Then just like an hour ago his brother came and told me she passed away...

My problem is telling him - I don't know how to do it. I will be the first person to talk to him when he gets back in town cause we live together and all, and I just don't know how to be the bearer of bad news. I know I have to tell him, I'm just saying....How?? He is my heart and my other half - when he hurts, I hurt - I don't want him to hurt. I have been trying to think of how to tell him, but the words just aren't there. The thought of him in pain just makes me cry.

This is the SECOND great-grandma that has passed away while he was out of town!! The last time he couldn't even attend the funeral because there was no way for him to travel home without all of his co-workers coming back too. He didn't get to spend anytime with either of his great-grandmas in their final days.

Okay, well...I just wanted to see if I could get any support or feedback before he comes home (tonight or tomorrow). Thanks for reading... :irked:

There's no easy way to explain death. It's a part of life, and we all will have to deal with it at one point or another. Just tell him what happened, and that you wish you could've called him home. Nothing in this is your fault, and he should understand that.

I wish you the best of luck in these bad times.

Thank you Alyada. Well, it wasn't as big of a deal to tell him as I made it out to be. He was upset, but we both knew there was nothing we could do. Looks like we have a funeral Monday-Tuesday though. It really sucks cause she was the sweetest person ever!!

Thanks again, hun.
