My first day in the dunes was interesting. My first two parties splintered early on. No biggie. Shouldn't be too hard for a lvl. 11 black mage to find a new group to be with, and it wasn't.
The leader in the third group was a thief with no armor. He wasn't "wasting money" on it because it was his subjob. So he's out there with beginner material through and through. Even only a month in I know better than that. A galka warrior was how we survived the first fights, sacrificing himself again and again until he'd had enough and left.
Our fearless leader also had no interest in white mages joining the fold. Red mages would suffice. Fair enough except he'd always pull back things that were out of our league and both myself and the red mage would get drained dry and have to rest again and again before the monsters would finally drop. At one point he saw me resting and started joking I wasn't pulling my weight.
It's true I stuggled with some beasties, but all the whacking he and the warriors did wasn't getting us very far. I'd rest up and the monsters would still be where they were before I sat down. I was nice enough I didn't bail on them in the middle of something and watch them all die. I liked the other members, just not the leader.
By the end myself and the white mage he eventually agreed to were the only people doing any damage. Isn't it sad when the white mage (lvl. 12) is your second best killer? The leader kept dropping because I think the white mage gave up on him. There were many private messages about the matter.
I saw the leadership and determination with the galka warrior and total shit from the thief. The best and the worst parties have to offer. And, yes, I had some fun. But if I could have nuked the bossman, his guts would have been strewn all across the beach.
