This is my last attempt to try to inform those people who seek for party around lower levels to have some sort etiquette about PT invites.

1. Please... do not go afk every 5min~15min or every 30min. Real life issues must be done first but really going afk every so often means you are having issues in RL. Please don't seek or at least disband the PT since you are wasting other people's time aswell and not just yours.

2. Afk time. Recently, the brb resulted as "I will be back in 15~30min" every single time. Again this is also goes along the line of point 1. If you cannot find a time to be unoccupied for at least 2hours, you should not be seeking. Dinner or lunch is out of question, you should not seek if these real life issues are near them. (Its ok after 2hours go dinner > continue afterwards but no good when you join, 30min PT and go dinner)

3. Try to hurry back when you have actually accepted the PT invite. It is real pain to wait 30min for another member who accepted the invite and never say the ETA. If the quest, farming you are doing takes long, do not accept the invite. If you somehow are delaying, tell the leader that you will be there in the next approximate ETA.

4. Try to listen to those who are experienced. When we give direction to someone, follow the steps. DO NOT start wandering around on places you don't know. If you are lost or cannot see the place where the other people are indicating PLEASE ASK! Last night I had a real pain trying to explain the members how to get to the basement in Garliage. Yes its an easy place to go... but people thought that falling down the hole would cause death or something...

5. By all means around 40s - 50s use food... Specially the pld. My last pld we got didn't used food, ended up with only being able to chain 1 and mp was out. The pld before ate food, and we got chain 4 np. And he was 1 level lower than our replacement pld... and no, both were same race (hume).

6. If you have the ability to croud control, aka sleep and such please keep an eye of your surroundings... last night the whm who sat too near the stairs got a bat agro like 3~4 times. I was the first person to realise this add. Good thing one of the warriors were quick enough to voke. (rangers doesn't really have any way to get hate around my level) This is why I am strongly against the meleeing mages. But lets not get into that now.

7. Skill chains. Its so surprising my rdm days both JP and NA recognised about the existance of skill chain and how important they were. But nowadays, they don't even ask for skill chain order, nor they don't have the macro of TP report. Really really sad... I did managed to make one yesterday. The Galka warrior (who the name escapes me) did real well.

8. Pulling. For the love of god, if there are more than 1 rival pt HELP WITH PULLING! Rangers aren't the best on pulling. Synical has mentioned this nicely on another post. But jeez, these days NO ONE PULLS! I am used to pulling with my mnk, I know more or less the agro range of sound agro mobs. The sight agro mobs are much easier to pull, I never made a link yesterday. But I was tired of pulling, scannig pulling and other members just stood there waiting for the mob... its much more effective to have multiple pullers and just bring back the first mob they find.

9. Spell you should and not use... Now this is the territory where I really don't want to touch since I feel like telling off how to play a character. But a whm starting with flash at the begining of the battle is... well... not productive. Obviously the target went to whm first -_-; Skilling up in exp party should be minimised... other jobs cannot even skill up in a party. Will lose effectiveness. You should respect them aswell.

10. Slow vokers... Some pld just doesn't fire their voke till all my shadows were absorbed. And no it was beetles, they don't have double attack nor have fast attacks... Use <bt> macro in order to voke the incomming mobs without the need of targetting.

11. Debuffs. Too many times I have been in a pt without a rdm which is ok. The whm or blm should at least land slow on the mob. htis reduces their damage and also leads to less mp used per fight. I have seen a grand total of 2 whm actually debuffing. The spells doesn't cost much mp for starters and take it as you need to cure less with debuff on.

12. Forgot to mention at the first 2 posts. Give an estimate time that you can play. And don't just go "I gotta go" stuff. This really piss people off. At the least find a replacement if you really need to go often.

The people who say you take the game seriously. Well if your PRECIOUS time is WASTED by some "PEOPLE" of course you take it seriously. You want to enjoy yet you can't enjoy because of the following reasons and ONLY time passes by without getting any productive outcome. For your reference, my last PT lasted 3.7 hours. And 1.5hours of that were afks, replacement and such. Which was ridiculous. I am sorry to say, at the current state I am one step from putting my "JP ONLY NA Friend ONLY" comment on my search comment. As much as I hate putting this which I think its a racial insult of a sort, I am tired of my time really wasted by some selection of people. During my last selection of parties with blm and ranger, the player skill average base has gone DOWN by a huge factor. Which is sad.

#6 is a must for anyone who can cast sleep, I myself am very paranoid and always watching for potential adds.

Blind invites kinda piss me off too, in some cases I'd get an invite before I even get to finish my search comment.

Decidence makes a good point though. ^^

I may be "only" a WHM but the #7 is sooo true!

Once the THF had his SATA, it was like the day of the delivrance for every DD! "
Why do we have to do a SC, the THF can do his lil'thingy schtuff that kills every mob!" :?

as above

Hehe i seen that way too many times. The problem is that the RDM always have the habit of leaving 1st. It's s trend, it was trend when i started FFXI 10months and and it hasn't change. I make my own PTies and it takes me 1-2HR just to find a RDM and when we finally got a PT, went to battle location kill a few mobs then the RDM says I'm sleepy, I have stuffs to do and so on and mind you JP parties never leave a PT half way they stick together till they all have to go.
So to all thoise RDM's out there, i urge you pick up the pace and stop seeking if you cannot stay IN a party for at least 3-4HR minimum.

Speaking up for the RDM argument... but some times "my toes are cold!"

j/k all very good points (minus the melee rdm). 2 Pullers are great when you are coordinated and there are a lot of other campers.

About the #10 ... It's particulary true in a SATA setup ... SATA buddies have not to be experienced tanks but it really hurt the "main" tank (me) to see a puller beaten nearly to death because de SATA buddie "forget" to voke.

And one more thing, THF ... please do your SATA thing quickly ... a lot a SATA buddies are not completely equiped to tank IT++ (which is normal, they are here to deal damages) and their HP drop down pretty quickly. As a PLD I surely use your "SATA" time to cure the backup tank ... but when I have the time to throw more than 2 cures, something is wrong.

Ill say as a 70 RDM i stick with my parties till the end. BUT being a rdm this level is so mind numbing it isnt even funny. So after 4-5 hours of exp i like to ask for a 15 min break to go poke my eyes out with a hot poker.

i agree with most of what you have said in the first post there.

but i have to disagree with number 8. when there are multiple pullers out there i have seen on numerous occasions both come back with a mob at the same time. it may not happen to often but it does happen. and that is a bad thing.

the biggest thing here is ettiquette (sp?) all these guidlines for partying could be thrown in the trash if we all had ettiquette. treating others nicely and at least trying there ideas or advise would save a lot of time and would make things easier for all. many people have different ideas about what is best. at least try there ideas out. it may work in the situation your in at the time.

the whole point behind a party is proper communication
so every member benefits as much as possible
even in a multi-language party, a simple macro slot
can easily notify any pullers of a possible monster to pull
and an "ok" from the mages or an indication of which puller should
poke the monster
simple communication solves any problems of
multiple mobs coming back to eat the party's brains

I just want to say lmao about that comment about Rdm's leaving first. I'm a rdm of course and I'm the one that usually puts my party together and keep the party going at all means. If anyone of you have been in a party with me you would know that I know my job as both a rdm and a party leader.

I've been told quiet a few times that I'm good at my job. I'm not trying to be self centered, but as a rdm I tend to ask the party if they mind me using sword only if I'm not main healer. If they say for me just to sit in the back with the other mages then so be it. I would say 75% of the time they 'test' me out with a mob or two to see if I can actually keep up with enfeebs, refresh, dispel and helping out with cures when need be, MB's (while i'm meleeing at the same time). I (not pusing my own buttons) pass everytime.

As for everything else that was stated:

#1: Very good point I was in a party getting my (well trying) paper for Genkai and the thf decided he wanted to run to wal-mart and stay logged in while we fight. That right there really pissed me off but I really wanted my paper lol. Just glad we had high lvl help, even though I didn't get it.

#2: Same as above

#3: Good point but hey sometimes I even forget things and have to run back to town. I.E. food, next lvl spells. I know I should have all that stuff while I'm seeking but I'm also moving things around trying to sell crap in the AH and need the extra space to get it to the AH real quick, get invite and the above items slips my mind. Damn only human but I still don't take long to get to the party.

#4: Umm...thats still needs to be proven to me that some 'experienced' players know more then i in the game. I've met far too many boneheads that thought they knew what they were talking about and ended up being wrong.

#5: My suggestion about the food thing: (something I usually do) BRING FOOD I'm talking buying food for the other people too and sell it to them when you find out that they don't have any. If you find out they have food then put it back in the AH.

#6: Thats just being dumb!

#7: I suggest getting a skillchain map printed and put somewhere near where you always play, and come up with skillchains while your putting the party together.

#8: Sometimes that causes problems with double pulls but if need be then by all means.

#9: If you want to skill up something start a 'Skill-Up' party and not an EXP party.

#10: If the pld or war can't hold hate that much then its time for a new tank. Plain and simple.

#11: Very good point. Rdm in my party when lvling my blm didn't even realise the importance of debuffs. Kind of a shame too.

#12: Ummm..sometimes I don't even have 4 hours to play for exp. I know a bunch of military people like myself that only really have like 2 or maybe 3 hours to play at a time all week. Also, how do you know how long a person has already been playing for? Shit who died and made you rule maker, just because you have no life and can play for hours on end doesn't mean other people can.

Oh and by all means put the JP only bullshit in your search. Seriously its just a fucking game get over yourself. I mean don't get me wrong some of your points were good and understandable but seriously get over youself!!

Drecan i do not believe shia intended her post to be the basis of pros and cons of her arguments. all of her points are more than valid, and everything i expect from people i group with. Some are points that need to be learned as you become a more skilled player, but MOST are simply respect issues. And i meet too many na players that lack any, both for themselves and others. as for the skills you pick up as you play, some will understand the strategy, some will not. i think though that many new players could do well to read shias suggestions. it may present to them a slightly clearer picture of how it can be better to work well as a team rather than being stubborn and refusing to learn new or better ways.

All this talk about bad RDMs lol. Most of my ls agrees most RDm's in the game suck... but 95% of the time the only RDM I party with is me so I don't know if that's true... O.o... I hope I don't suck O.o /paranoia

All really good points Shia (Though I like to melee ><)

I won't go into rdm meleeing nor whm meleeing as long as they can keep up with their role and they know what you are hitting. More often they are usually doing the right things while meleeing which is perfectly acceptable. But you know sometimes when some crap happens like link, is a good example. When ever this happens usually the mages or at the least imho rdm has to be the first to realise and quickly get to action (aka sleep it asap). Followed by his emergency buffs which are usually stoneskin, phalanx and blink. You never know how long the sleep will last, there is no telling if its quater / half or full landed. And you know how hard they hit. Sometimes the mob takes alot of time to kill, rdm had to sleep multiple times and usually the mobs doesn't like to be slept. /shrug, maybe its only me but really rdm who meleed and seemed doing good always failed on sleeping department, and I as a blm usually had to do the job, although at higher level its really hard to land it unless I am using elemental seal. But enough of this, I am not going to bring a dead horse topic again. If I have issues with rdm meleeing I will say it in the PT and not here.

And yes my points were clearly had one goal. Respect the others. They are playing like yourself in their free time. And those people who said I had no life well meh... take it that way if you wish. But more than anything is lack of cooperation and lack of respect, most things I mentioned are wasting someone's pretious time for your afking.

I have a parser program myself (FFrep, FFrepo) and it shows how much time I spent in party, how much idle time in the party, and also exp per hour. When I see the FFrep and I see a 1.5 idle time in total with 1500 exp per hour... what do you think I feel.

Also I was doing the wrong thing aswell which I should appoligise. Instead of comming here and throw the flame, I should simply disband the party instead of staying. By staying I gave the party a chance and me to cope with the situation. Leaving the party is really hard for me, perhaps its the JP culture that is kicking in. JP members rarely disbands, or leaves PT. It shows the lack of respect to the leader. This is our view and may not apply for other people.

I'm guilty of this lately, but it's a very valid reason, and I warn people when they invite me, I.E.

"I'm going to need to go AFK for a minute or 2 every 30 minutes or so, if that's ok".

My reasoning?

My diet. I have to pee constantly >_<, and as much as I enjoy partying, I'd much rather run to the bathroom really quickly, than ruin my chair.

lol I'm guilty of that too sometimes having to stay hydrated for pt for the navy.

Seriously, whoever came up with this 64oz of water a day thing needs to be shot. I can hardly drink 32oz, and by the time I've done that, I have to pee 99 times that day. >_<
