Anyone know anything about mice?

I love my little Darlings Pandemonium and Kelpie but Kelpie has a problem...

She is extremely overweight, and I mean extremely. She looks like she ate about three or four of Panda whole. If she gets any bigger her cute not-so-little ass is going to have a bitch of a time fitting into her coconut house. I'm at a loss as to what to do, they have a huge excercise wheel which she sleeps in and I've cut back on the treats.

I can't really feed her less because Panda is in there too...any suggestions? This can't be healthy

No carbs for little Kelpie. Thats my suggestion.

Do you want her to get thin for health reasons, because that mouse sounds so cute my head wants to explode. Sleeping on the exercise wheel... coconut house... fat mouse named Kelpie... I can't take it, it's too much.

My other suggestion is to make a Kelpie calendar. You're a Graphic Artist right? I've made a couple of calendars in my workings and have some homemade templates, I think. The calendar is a must. It will destroy the kitten and puppy calendars.

You should also get a Kelpie tattoo that has a comic bubble coming from his mouth that says "Locals Only!" or something. That would be pretty rad.

(Excuse my lameness. I sprained my ankle real bad on Saturday and I am on crutches and TONS of painkillers. I will shutup now)

Definatley health reasons....

You guys have no idea how big this mouse is right now...she's like dwarfing hamsters...

Everytime someone see's her you get a "HOLY SHIT!"...I'll get a picture of the both of them when I get home just to drive my point home.

It's insane...

Your standard rodent mix...

Sunflower Seeds and all that junk that comes in the bag with the little mouse on it.

I had some mouse cookies on a rope in there but I took them out a while ago. I think it's just a matter of the volume of food that she's eating, but it's not like I could let them go w/o food!! I would feel so bad

You should stop giving her food until she does something. Kind of a like a reward system of sorts. For example, if she (im assuming its a girl, correct me if im wrong) walks around a little, you give her something to eat.

The problem with that is that there are 2 mice in the tank. One normal one (pandemonium, very active and destructive) and kelpie...my little tank.

If I take the food away due to Kelpie packin it in, I also deprive Panda of the food she needs to keep up the energy to absolutely destroy everything in the tank.

Why not keep her somewhere else till she loses weitgh? like a shoe box or something. That way the other mouse is not as affected.

Because they looooooooves eachother. They sleep together, clean eachother, nuzzle etc....I would just feel terrible seperating them like that....I think i'm screwed! I wonder if there is any low fat food or something I could give her. :?:

It would only take a mouse about an hour to get out of a shoebox... it's trickier than you'd think to find alternative rodent housing.

But seriously guys... whatever you're picturing when you hear "fat mouse", triple it and that's what Kelpie looks like. I've never before seen ROLLS of fat on a rodent.

I'll put them in a box when I get home and take a picture...you have no idea....

I too wanna see pics!!!
that must be one bigass mouse if she cant fit into the coconut house!

hmmm cant u separate them during feeding?
I know they dont really have set feeding times, and alwayz have food available to them, but maybe figuring out when they prefer eating and separating them might work........then when they're done u can put them back together.......

or maybe separate their tank.........like make "rooms" for them........and a small hole for panda to get to kelpie, but kelpie wont be able to fit to get into pandas room.....hehe dunno how durable that would be tho.......ie panda or kelpie may chew to make the hole big enuf for the both of em......

Here's a dumb question Sabia. Are both mice female? I mean, you keep saying Kelpie is a she, but you've never mentioned Panda's sex. Afterall, if Panda is male...Kelpie could easily be preggers.

That happened to me actually, I had 5 "male" gerbils, but as they grew up, I realized that Yomi was female. And there was lots of mating...-_-

Here's some advice from my friend the rodent expert.

"As odd as it may seem, hermaphrodism is somewhat common among rats and mice... but other than a pregnant mouse, the only other advice I'd give would be to get Kelpie in for a vet check up. The wieght could be a signal of something worse going on"

Panda's a girl...Kelpie has had this weight problem for a very long time now...it's just sorta getting worse. She had it with the previous mouse too, and I make sure to do the girly check on panda as often as she bares her little cute tush to me.

Fuuuuuck, I hope she's not sick...I dunno I'll post a pic when I get home and tell me what you think :?

O.o one question.. why'd you name once of your mice after a big fat galka Monk on our server? :P ^^

Awwwww....

I named Pandemonium after a summon...Cursed galka's, always sitting on me and now stealing the names of my mice!!!

Can you separate them just while you feed them? I don't know if mice just nibble on stuff all through the day or if you can feed them a couple of 'meals' a day, but if you can, I'd first try giving them their food separately. Hope she's ok.
