My "New BRD JA" Findings.

I tested Min4, March2, and ballad2 on myself and another player, both of us noticed no benefit what so ever other than the song being non AoE, even if you CALL that a benefit.

Useless JA? Can you bards think of any uses for this?
 
you expected something other than what it said it was? use your own mind and figure out what the benefit is. Use a few damned braincells and figure out the use that everyone else already figured out for being able to make certain songs single target.
 
Isn't it supposed to reduce the song to single target so that you don't give a buff to someone that didn't want it? That's what i got out of it.

lets go with the most common use for it:

think of a standard pt with at least 3 melee and a tank.
lets say the tank is a pld, and your pt lacks a red mage.
pop melee songs on the melee, and then stick a ballad on the pld


there are tons of other uses.
this is a JA for those picky people who prefer a different song than what the group wants.
your ability to please everyone as a brd has just increased by Pi.

Are you a fucking idiot? Landing ballad on a PLD in normal XP parties is not a problem if they stand in the right place like they should. BRD job is about positioning yourself and singing the song. The same applies when a silly RNG likes to stand near the mages.

lets take into consideration that not everyone has the luxury to stand where every they want at all times also.
y halo thar fafhog. y halo thar kirin pt burn.
y halo thar gimp melee job that requires more acc over 2x atk or march
y halo thar fights that have tanks on both sides of the mob and people constantly SATAing hate back and forth, who dont want ballad just because their pld does.

if you really cant find a creative use for this ability then you are the definition of terribad.
and thats no good :|

You're not seeing the long term benefit of that ability. Now when you have cannons and you're pulling as BRD, you can single target the healer with ballad and not worry about running all over creation. Just make things easier. Don't be so close minded.

I never have a problem mixing songs at fafhogg. Nor do I understand what Kirin tp burn has to do with anything, since you just cast two songs with SV+troub+nightingale. And im sure that giving a gimp melee acc songs will still make him gimp, because now he is lacking, march and/or min. And why would you XP with two tanks and two thfs?

It sounds like to me that you just don't understand the fundamentals to bard... Which is why this JA has LITTLE(1 or 2) to no uses.

The reason I'm upset is because I've been waiting for a JA for years with a cool down effect 5mins or lower and this is what I get, ha.
 
They just added it to make the job of a bard less reliable on positioning and people moving. Also to benefit melee jobs that require different spells other than the regular 2. A NIN tank may want March while the rest of the party be reliant on Madrigal and Minuet. There are all sorts of instances where perfect positioning isn't possible for everyone in the party.

I never expected a buff of any sort. Just something to make the life of a bard a little easier. Which it probably won't now cause melee members will just get more whiney.

There's really only one thing you can say to this.

Cry more. BRDs have all they need. If you're so pissed off that they're given "useless" things, then go play a different job.

im not a brd main, and i dont intend to be soon.
however, from a melee stand point i can very much vouch for having thought of:
" oh man if only that brd can pop ( just ) me a ______ song right now that would rock "

well now they can , and it makes me mr.happypants.

as for the 2 tanks, that wasnt meant to be an xp pt, that was meant to be a hnm/god fight

each person gears their jobs differently, and with that comes songs that really make their equip build shine. not everyone is the same, and not in all situations do you have luxuries to have people stand exactly where you want them.

I said I DONT mix songs at fafhogg because the alliance knows where to stand. In a HNM/god fight the same shit applies. Never have problems mixing songs. The only situation on HNM I can't think of is when a NIN/WAR and a PLD are together, but that is very rare, and I mean VERY rare, since most NINs I know sub DRK or RDM.
 
you speak as if the nin/drk cant survive on refresh from a rdm alone(aka they actually use thier nin tools). The nin would benefit from 2x march while the pld could have ballad/march.
 
Krono, not everyone is the super special awesome perfect Brd you appear to be. SE didn't add this knowing that you can't use it because you never fuck up.
 
HEY! How about casting spells like Prelude?!

It can be useful for that, RNGs dont have to stand so far away from everyone to get it, and it can be targeted on them without giving any other members of the party /ra bonuses...

Prelude is shit. any decently geared rng will get more benefit from minuetx2. Rng is the most accurate job in the game. suggesting that they need a prelude is quite ridiculous and any rng that isnt up to the standard of eating meat and still having high racc can just pop a sushi instead of meat and take the same 2x minuet that the other DD are taking. This is of course ignoring the fact that the rng can see more benefit from adding on more racc gear to get the same effect as the prelude and then just grab the minuets for more atk than they just lost.
