Hay guys, I'm not a technical person but some of you lot are. Kam has a habit of talking technical to me and I end up not listening to him because I don't understand all that computer stuff but here is link to the computer him and his friend are making for me.

I just think it looks pretty.

Please help me understand what will be good about this for playing.

Thanksee Kea xx

Wow... Not too shabby at all.

The things that will really help XI shine is the memory. FFXi is a memory slut and loves it. The video card is super overkill for XI but expect to run things like dynamis and besieged a hell of a lot better.

Water cooled as well so your heatbox of an intel chip will stay at a good temp under loads. If it comes with a dual boot with Vista and XP - dont use VISTA for the time being its a piece of shit. I deal with it on a regular basis at work and it causes me nothing but headaches. Give vista time to get patched and for the rest of the world to catch up with it before bothering.

That case is fucking hot too....how much is this beast in USD roughly Kea?

Well I just learnd that there is a team of people behind the making of kos-mos they are making it frmo scratch so I will find out how much it will be costing but I don't think it will be cheap.

That does look pretty. But Intel... heathen!

You'll be happily impressed with it I think, performance-wise. You don't play RTS games do you? Supreme Commander damn near requires 4gb of local RAM.

Looking at stuff like this makes me want to upgrade my PC. I'm thinking of Going AMD when I do upgrades. I need a new mobo GPU and CPU ; ;

I only play Final Fantasy on computer but I also play xenosaga on my ps2, its where kos-mos came from as well as anime. i love kos-mos taht why he designing this computer for me

oh you cant buy kos-mos, they are making her just for me but i will find out how much she costs

actually that chassis isn't custom build you can buy the same chassis at Newegg.com

All he did is paint those words on the side using those sane method that used on car

Geforce 8800 GTX look good in it, but isn't x2 Geforce 8800 GTX SLI :P

RAID1: Dual Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache Hard Disk Drives

Waste of money, no need for 10k RPM, traditional 7.2k RPM work fine

Dual boot; Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
if that HD is x2 150GB, then that mean 1 HD per 1 window platform?
Vista sucks atm, wait for a year til all bugs are fixed

900W power is overkill if you don't put SLI on it, 600W-700W should be enough

Overall is good computer if you want to spend $X,XXX on it

then again techology advance very quickly, so may end up needing an upgrade sooner or later :P

Go for it Kea, Is an awsome computer :) and cool kos-mos custom design on it

I'm a fan of Kos-Mos myself ^^

Then trust me Kea this thing is going to slaughter XI. Should try getting into some higher end games to really make that beast work.

The 8800 GTX fails to display the menu tabs in FFXI correctly. Even up to now there is no driver to correct that. I read about it here and also a friend of mine had the same problem. Google it and it will hurt you're soul.

There is this patch some dude made by himself, you can use to make the tabs readable. It's not exactly perfect, but you will use that patch and no other. (It's been awhile and still no solution to that problem)

Aside from the small glitch with FFXI you will experience, you're new PC will make anyone who comes near it quite happy.

lol Vandoura. I was hoping you would try to scratch her with the Alienware.

no, she will scratch mine D: my alienware is 1 year 2 months old.. and is going out-dated lol

but i do planning on Getting another Alienware once i got enough money
or custom build my own within next year or 2

Gonna try to build/buy

Main Part:
Dual Geforce 8800 GTX or Maybe Dual Geforce 8900 GTX (if it do released)
4+ GB Ram
x2 500GB HD
Liquid cooling GPU and CPU
physX card
X-fi sound card
1kw-15kw

if i get Alienware, i will get ALX and build it til is reach $8k lol

i will not get WIndow vista for another years, because there is still bugs, and crashes, i'll wait it out

Oh btw, do you know Dell Brought Alienware? :D just fyi for you lol
even tho Dell own Alienware, Alienware computer is independent from dell, nothing change, but same boss i think?

Wtf 4GB of ram?, you sure is isn't memory leak? lol because that is crazy...

F.E.A.R. only need 1GB... but x4 the amount?

You're machine isn't bad at all Vandoura. Better than most of us. You can replace the GPU and also make it dual boot OS's aswell if you wanted to. You already have liquid cooling on a 2.4GHZ dual core. The beauty of liquid is silence. Why would you want to change the sound card ?

no, i'm not upgrading this computer lol. i'm planning to buy/build another computer, and if i do build/buy another computer, thats the stuff i'm thinking i'm gonna get

you can always buy the cases they use, it just doesnt say alienware, but you can paint it to say whatever you like ;) lol

When you get Kos-Mos, lemme know. I'll steal her, make her SLI, and change the graphix to AGP instead of PCI, then slather it all with a nice layer of AGP.

Everyone is right, stay away from Vista. I hate hate hate hate hate hate it so far.

Overall I forsee FF refusing to even boot up on Kos-Mos because it will be too embarassed to render itself on her. It'll most likley flee right back into your old PC, or PS2 and shake in the fetal position as Kos-Mos laughs at it. Surely you have an equally sexy monitor to go with all your new hardware, no?

Edit: Oh yeah, don't be afraid of your graphix cards. Geforces are kinda big, but every so often you gotta blow those bastards out, they pick up dust like a damn Hoover. I blew both of mine out the other day and my living room looked like Egypt when I was finished.

You can dual-boot on a single partition and physical disk.

FEAR ain't shit compared to SC. I did a skirmish last night with 500 unit cap, 4 players including myself. You run dual monitors that each are displaying 2000 models realtime, all having effects (smoke from tailpipe etc), each covered by dynamic realtime lighting & shadows, yeah it's a resource hog. I'm not even touching the physics either. Far as I can see, SC is currently the biggest hog of a game out there memory-wise.

X-fi sound card
Do NOT buy an X-Fi. I have one, and along with at least 20,000 other X-Fi users I am experiencing erratic popping and crackling. In games, during music, even in Windows when I'm not doing anything.

This is a known issue that Creative is blaming on PCI Interrupts, but even following all of their suggested steps, 90% of users still experience the problem. I can reduce it so it's almost unnoticeable, but when you have the volume cranked up in a movie / game / music it will drive you nuts.
