Why the hell do Items have to be so hard for me to get? I mean, everyone has their days when nothing ever drops, or goes right. Why does mine have to be my entire FFXI career?
I recently got 50 on my drk, so it's Genkai time. I convinced my brother to help me get my items, knowing that the hardest part would probably the low drop rate on the paper. Little did I know that the game had it in for me. Zero items for the quest. So we set out to the Crawler's Nest to get me my mold. 6 hours. 6 unbelievable hours with 8 deaths. No drop.
Why is it that I have to have a THF in the party to get any drops? I know thf deserve an extra boost on getting items, but do items have to have that shitty of a drop rate? The end most definetly does not justify the means.
 
The end => Being able to level the rest of the 2/3 of the way to the cap

The means? why are you complaining? if it'll let you level past the 1/3 mark what's wrong with a little effort?

Especially considering the other Genkai are all cake.
 
I'm complaining because
A) I do not have the man power by myself to kill the stuff on my own,
B) Its not just Genkai items that never drop for me, just too lazy to retype all my camping sprees that end in me getting annoyed
C) If I have to drag people out for 6 hours when they could be soing something else, then die while helping me with no profit to them, I'm going to get a little pissed for wasting their time.
Sorry if I seem snappy or extremely defensive, but that just annoys me to no end.

1. That's the point.. when the level cap was 55-60 and not many people were even that level, people formed ALLIANCES and entire LINKSHELLS to get these items. FFXI is about working together.. *ahem

2. Bad luck, GO! But seriously, SE doesn't want us to be uber. Quite the opposite. SE wants us to suffer for our gear. If you want everything handed to you for time onry with barely any effort, This Isn't The Game For You™.

3. If they came out, and died, and it wasn't you that caused their death, then it wasn't your fault their time was "wasted".
 
I'm sorry about your bad luck with getting your items. Whenever I had to kill exorays in the nest(escorts usually), I'd always shout if I got an exoray mold just in case anyone needed it.
 
Aye.. Believe me, I've had to work for all of the decent stuff I have. I know how hard thigns are to get.

I can't help but feel responsible when someone else in the party causes all of us to die. And yes, I do feel like its my fault for wasting their time, I dunno, I must have some problems or something. Oh well.

Sounds like you need 5 THFs plus yourself for a pty to get any drops for yourself with that luck XD.

Ahem, sorry to hear your luck isn't the greatest, I've had some pretty bad luck sometimes through the game too, but hopefully one day that may change or you may get something, or you can lvl thf yourself for better drop rates :D
 
FFXI {Incredibly Tough}. You have to work at it, and sometimes that work doesn't work, no matter what you do.

If you want an easy life, go play World of Warcraft. Otherwise, step up to the challenge and give the paper another go.
 
Just gotta keep at it many of us have horror stories about G1 belive us though the rest of th elimit breaks except maybe the last one are easy ^^

Six hours? It was not unheard of some players taking up to two weeks of farming exorays(ffs) three to five hours a night to finally get their mold.

My advice... Camp CN like Baj said, most Ppl doing EFH get this drop for some god damn stupid reason, just go on a sunday and watch 5987-3798-359783-97-467839 ppl tryin to do it all at one time, hell you might even see me and I would more then gladdy hit ya up with 1 if it drops.
 
Thanks for the reassurance everyone. Before all of this, I was seriously debating quitting. Hah, I think everyone knows that it's pretty much impossible to quit this game. Its like freaking crack.
Anyways, I'm planning on giving it another go.
Oh, by the way. I tried WoW when my friends bought it (they switched from FFXI after my brothers and I got them hooked). I wasn't really too impressed. Oh well, to each his own I suppose.

And woah nelly, if you want some horror stories of no drops... =P
 
Mish is the reigning queen of bad drops. =P But trust me, if you have bad luck at this stage, it's never going to improve except on like, one really awesome day, but what you get will be taken away the next day. From my experience, anyway.

Also, I couldn't get into WoW either. It was kind of neat, but the character models are just WAY too simple for my standards. Especially with FFXI's quite detailed armour, despite 80% of it being recolours.
 
If it will help, I have crap luck on drops too, reguardless of luck on the mold.

I have killed Poisonhand Baghnacks about 25 times now and only got 1 Jujitsu gi. And he only pops once an hour at best, sometimes up to 3 hours.
