My sig

This the first time i really ever messed around in Photoshop to make a Sig, just want to know what you people think or any advice I can get for creating more sigs in the future.

What's the sword?
 
Well ok, graphically, it's cool-looking. However, I am personally biased against sigging yourself wearing some equipment you don't have. Particularly if it's something like Excalibur (that not only do you not have, not only are you personally likely never to get, but that quite possibly nobody at all on the entire server will ever have), it's just a bit ... pretentious.

One single sword, that isn't made the primary focus of the sig, is not as bad as the level 50 character sigging themself in both full AF2 and full abjuration gear mind you (that they can't even equip for another 20-odd levels, never mind difficulties in obtaining it). But it's still a little pretentious when that sword is a fully upgraded relic weapon. :P

Like I acknowledged, it's still a cool-looking weapon. And it's a good pose. So from a purely graphical standpoint, yeah, it's a good sig. From a standpoint of symbolizing your character, however ...
 
Well lets see. The images seemed to be renderd well. Though there is no blending really...I am not saying you need it, but usually it helps to have at least a little. The text in the top left is unreadable. Add a 1 inch white stroke at 75% opicity and it should be easier to read. Also this is my own personal thing btu i dont like how the images are on top of eachother. I think the background should be longer alittle and the other image moved over, but thats my personal thing there....Also I dont like how the one RDM is so dark in color. I think it would be better if it were screened in...

Thats my take on it. Really you didnt do a bad job....though really it isnt a complecated sig either :lol:

Im not going to lie you could make it better. But you will get better as you make more graphics and play with photoshop more. If it helps this sig is better then the first sig I made ^.^

One real question though...did you render the images(crop them out) yourself or did n you have someone else do it for you? If You did nit yourself thats a big thumbs up because I know people who couldent cut out images for months and they made sigs.

I actually cropped the images out useing the magnet lasso tool from photo shop, then spent 10 mins eraseing the the edges to make them look better
 
Well good job on that, you did as good of a job as I do(well I never saw te first image but it still loks goo and thats all that really counts). Though using the lasso tool while zoomed in is easier in my opinion. I never understood why pople used the magnetic lasso tool over the normal lasso tool...

Also I didnt think of this before hand but you should use a boarder on you sigs. Makes them look alittle nicer ^.^
 
i wouldnt really call it a sig its just some pictures thrown togther, yours, and most others here are pretty bad >.> butttt none of our sigs were good the first time around :P if i can find a old one that i have ill post it ;)

yea okay so maybe it isnt a "sig" to some of the better sig makers. I must admit it does look like a bunch of pictures put together but hey its still something right? Oh and elitemage, those arnt bad at all. Ill poist a few of the ones I like that I have made since I started.

I made this one by about my 3rd day of sig making.

Well I think thats enough of my work, this is all stuff from the beginning of my sig making. I have alot more, a whole site full actually, and more not on the site. Dont know if anyone considers them any good though.

I dont know why I am sharing really. Just figured I would since Elitemage did :lol:
 
yea, im too embarrased to post my first sig.... all it is is like 1000 filter effects with a picture lol i wish i didnt format my comp and lose my .psd's :( so much work all gone ; ;
 
Well i was just playing around a little and changed a few things like the darkness on the second charicter and the sword hes holding is now the Fencing degan. I also made the text a little more readable. I'm still exparamenting and getting to know Photoshop so bare with me

Hmm text is more readable but I dont liek the text you use. It seems sloppy alittle, thats a personal thing though. As for the render on the right...I like how hes not dark now but I think him floating there dosent do any justice. Maybe try lowering him so that his feet are not visable anymore but the rest of his body is. Also you might want to mess around with the visiablity of the left render. This way one is like there and dominant and the other is just like faded in and it might help. It might hurt too. Just play around and see I guess. You also might want to change the background eventually. Make one or take a differant screenshot if you want. Thats just if you want to though. Never stick with the first background, play with them. Trust me you could probally find one that makes the sig look better.

If you are looking for some help on how to do things you might find good-tutorials.com helpful (hopefully I spelt tutorials right)

I knew people like to criticize characters with gear they can't wear, so I put a disclaimer right in my sig :lol:

Hell, not only can I not wear any of the gear, but I'm also wear 2 head pieces and the middle shot is a half-and-half split down the middle. I realize I may not ever wear most of it, but like my disclaimer says I made it to look cool, not to be realistic. Though I think I will pick up a Scorpion Breastplate when I get high enough to use it just because it does look so damn awesome.... That and the stats aren't unbearable, either.
 
Yeah, I'd like it more if it was actually following board rules and regulations.
 
A bit too big ^^; if you edit it down to the appropriate size and maybe make the text a little more clearer I think it'd be great =D
