When I first got my phone in July 2007, I was psyched to see it was able to store 50 outgoing and 100 incoming texts compared to my previous piece of shit phone.

Gradually though, my phone has been "remembering" less and less text messages. Although I still get 100 outgoing texts, I can only have 19 incoming messages. I'm not locking/saving any texts, and it's not like the memory is full. So I was wondering if any one of you have a solution to this, because I really don't want to drive to lolSprint.

/sigh

This is a pretty awesome phone too...

I didn't think it would matter!
I did the online representative thing because I'm at work, and they told me to call them. I waited 90 minutes for that response. <3 Sprint.

It is a Samsung SPH-A640

Do you have any messages in your drafts or outbox? I have a Samsung phone as well, and there is a total text memory capacity for all folders (drafts, outbox, inbox, and sentbox).

why did i picture her getting text messages in prison when i saw this thread.....

I'm using 900 out of a total of 3000 bytes of space on my phone.

This is of no real help, but it might be amusing at best.

I had a Sprint phone years and years ago (First flip phone, looked like a gameboy screen haha). I was in an 18 month contract, and about 14 months into it my phone went into "roaming" mode, basically locking it and not allowing me to make/receive calls. I took it to their store, and after an altercation with the kindly Arabic fellow behind the counter named "George", I had a chance to speak in private with the store manager...

I didn't take very kindly to him telling me I needed to buy a new phone to continue my service (also locking me into another year contract), and though I don't remember my exact words, my final adieu as I slammed the phone down on the counter was "You can stick this phone up your ass".

My temper is going to lead to me either being arrested or me getting my ass kicked some day, but as of right now I'm 3/3 for making scenes in public places and surviving to tell about it.

Initially, they sold me a phone with a broken battery and made me purchase a new one.

This is the exact reason I hate Sprint. I go to their support on their website, and I gave him the model number. He tried to fix it by telling me to take the Stylus out. Now, I'm not very electronic savvy, so I was thinking about the DS stylus. My phone is just a general phone; I got it cause it looked pretty sweet.

So I got put on "hold" for 30 minutes waiting for a technician to help me. I reset the text "call", and then place another, in which they promptly tell me to call them. I tell them I can't, I'm at work, and they say "Well, that's what you have to do, here's the number."

I call up Sprint when I get done with my chores at home, and they tell me they cannot help me, that I must go to the Sprint store. If they make me get a new phone, I'm cancelling my contract and getting AT&T. I hate Sprint.

Sometimes when you complain, they give you stuffs for free.

I've decided that that's the only way to get anything in life. I had another run-in at Best Buy once, trying to return a router that I got talked into buying. After taking it back because it was shit, they wanted to charge me a 20% "Restocking fee". I freaked, and ended up getting it waived.

Sometimes you just have to be an asshole I guess lol.

Reminds me of when AT&T failed to cancel my service and sent me bills months later telling me I had a past due amount. When I called in, they told me they had no record of me requesting to cancel my service, even though I told the woman the exact day I did, meaning the woman documented nothing in their note systems. Said a "manager" would call me back to discuss the issue and see if the cancellation could be backdated to when it should be, but I never received a call. Oh well I guess.

*edit* forgot to mention it was their DSL service. Nothing like paying $39 a month for dial-up. Canceled immediately after the first month. Paid the bill, told the woman to cancel the service, I was going with Cox. Incompetent workers screw people over, I'll tell ya now. AT&T is a reputable company, so I won't say they are trained to not take notes on a cancellation subject. That would end up in a lawsuit from someone at some point if that happened.

Ok well i used to work for the warranty department for At&T like 1.5 years back and i think i can give you some pretty good advice. The first... if you are going to change companies dont go to AT&T... Beyond that your phone is under 1 year old and therefore you should be able to replace it under the conditions of your warranty. They are going to have you do a bunch of stupid things that prolly wont work like reseting the phone but make sure you call them before the 1 year is up because with my company your boned at 1year and a day.

What i would tell them is that you think that you have a memory leak problem. It is not a common problem but it does happen from time to time. Make sure all of your numbers are perma saved so if sprint uses sim cards save it to that and then remove the battery from the phone while it is still on. This may cause you to loose things that are not saved to a perma device like past texts and phone numbers but it also resets all the settings in the phone to factory default so it is a good test to see if it was something you did.

If that doesnt work and you have not fucked it over or gotten it wet there is no reason that they should not be willing to replace it for ya. And if after arguing for a while about it they still say that they wont replace it because its not a "known issue" then wait a week call them back and tell them that the screen is blank and the phone is on. They will try to confirm that its not cracked or anything and then they will tell you another phone is being shipped to you... atleast thats how AT&T did it.
