So, I go to the midnight release to pick up my Wii. I get home and after screwing around the menu's for a little bit I decide I want to play Zelda 1st. I pop in Zelda and get an error. The error says to eject the disk and shut off my Wii and look in the manuals for troubleshooting. EVERY SINGLE GAME I HAVE DOES THE EXACT SAME THING. Now i'm fucking pissed. I just spent $500 on everything, and I want to play. So I figure I will call Nintendo in the morning. When I call Nintendo I find that their customer service operators are all busy and they have been all morning. This is the last system I buy at launch >.>

I'm sorry to hear that, I haven't had any issues with mine.

very sorry to hear that Kesh =( have you tried updating the software?

Yeah, the exact same thing happened. Just called gamestop, once they get another shipment in they are going to let me trade mine for another. The wait is going to suck now that I actually have Zelda sitting in my dorm.

I actually had the same problem for a sec, you know what I did? I flipped the disc around and it read lol. for some reason they made this thing so odd looking that I thought I was putting the disc in the right way the whole time. Try it and see.

Yeah, you have to put the label facing to the right if your Wii is vertical, could that have been your problem?

No, thats not the problem. I checked and made sure it was facing the right way before I put it in, it shows the direction in the manual.

Did you try putting it in both ways just for the heck of it? Might as well try.

I had a problem with Disc reading of Wii Sports. My other games worked fine though. To load my Wii Sports though I inserted my other games and then threw in my Wii Sports to load. I had Trauma Center, Zelda, and Monkey Ball to test the swapping. My console is horizontal and not in vertical position. I'll try to post more info if I can find any solution when I have time...too much and can't even enjoy playing any of the games >< tonight.

If it's like the Gamecube problem it might be the laser that needs adjustment in the intensity of power flowing through it. I have yet to try 2 GC games I had problems reading in the GC console.

Unlike when my Nintendo DS broke in half? lol. That was another launch. At least it's better than the defective PS3s that come alive and destroy all your other video game systems...

I hope ya'll got the 1-year replacement plan on your Wii. New system, new problems. ^_^ Just FYI.

Nintendo is pretty good with their warranty. They pay for shipping and everything when I had to get my Gamecube fixed. I believe hardware has 12 month warranty you can extend it to 15 months by registering your Wii console system on the Nintendo website.
